It seems pretty clear that someone is continually posting the BuyRite deals for personal profit--lots of One Posters.
I assume our BB is somewhat similar to FuseTalk. So, CheapyD, can we ban the IP address that this guy is using for the BuyRite spam/ads. Or can we MAC check his computer(S) and ban those machines? I think both are possible with Fuse. Don't know about this platform.

Buyrite is located in North Carolina.
These posters are not.

in the past 3 days there have been 3 or 4 posts from a website called buyrite games.
they are notorious for ripping people off. read www.boycottbuyritegames.com
banky suggested a filter where any variant of buy rite games, or their web address would be replaced with the website i posted above. in the same vein as the fuck filter

According to a search I just did for "buyrite" it's only been mentioned 26 times total as far back as the search function goes. That's not an epidemic and it hardly warrants setting up a filter for.

Also how many of the searches has been the last 2 or 3 days... in all the time I have been here I can only remember one buy rite thread and that was around xmas time...If I remember correctly.
I wouldnt be against a buyrite filter but my opinion is a bit biased. Personally I remember then having a couple REALLY good deals but when I ordered...it was just cancelled 2 weeks later and I did have to follow up with them to get a refund. They truely are shady.
I read a GREAT thread about a guy getting arrested for attacked an employee there after he was ripped off from some really expensice Neo Geo games. He actually flew out there and went into the place with a bat. Its a great thread to read.
I dare someone to find it...
It would be funny it buyrite was filtered to be buywrong lol

Even though it may be biased, I think a filter would do good. Or alteast use it to add on a message with the Boycott link. Its a horrible place.

A search on that brings up 22 hits and a lot of them are the same hits from the "buyrite" search. I really don't feel like counting which ones are and aren't, so we can just say it's somewhere between 22 and 48 messages that contain some variation. Many of them are bitching about the place too, so I'd guess it's under 10 that are actually advertising for it. So less than 10/127292 posts might be buyrite spamming.

Hey defender, how did you manage to get a refund from them? I'm still in the process of it after calling like multiple times
buyrite needs to be shaq-fu'd for this site. :-P

i agree, all buyrite thrreads are the same, people say the same things and the boycott link gets posted in every thread, a filter on them would make it a non-issue
im not over reacting like the topic poster who would have u believe an epidemic of spam is comming from them, however they have terrible business practices and should never be dealt with

Also agreeing with WSB, new members who haven't been around as long are more likely to get suckered in if they keep having deals posted. It's preventative maintenance.

Kick Buy Rite out on their butts.
Every single time the site is mentioned a swarm of people come out pointing out it sucks. I don't see why time should be wasted putting in a filter when the posters here are so vociferous on the site's flaws whenever it comes up. Moreover, if you're a neophyte to online ordering and you don't research the store you're looking to buy from a bit, I think any off-ripping will serve as a good lesson. Maybe that's a little harsh, but the boycott buyrite site is the second site to come up on a google search for "buyritegames," so it's not like it's a big secret they suck. IMO these boards need a more laissez faire approach. If it's something we the posters can (and already do in this case) handle, there's no need to bother the admins.

Yeah, I see your point, very productive. If you want to help newbies why not compile a retailer ratings thread for the deals forum? Make it in a format of
Store name
Web Address
Pros:
Cons:
Then ask a mod to make it sticky and keep it updated, say, monthly, or as concerns arise (stuff like dropping free shipping, adding tax, whatever.)

I ordered some stuff from them it took a three weeks to get here and only half of it showed up. I talked to them on the phone and they told me to never order from them again.
Nice website but this place is a rip off.

think of it this way. If you filter buy rite, a Cag here might post assking if the site is reliable...only to see its considered spam he orders and then gets screwed. I feel it is better for everyone to not filter it because this way if someone does even consider ording then they will be told the truth. That is how i feel. I think its safer to not filter it.

I tried to order some Dreamcast games from them years ago, and they never e-mailed me when I contacted them. To me, that was a bad sign. If you can't even reply to your customers or potential customers, why should you take a chance and buy from them?

I placed an order through buyrite back in 2001 for Bleem and Gran Turismo 2. I recieved the order rather quickly, but when I opened the FedEx box, there was nothing but packing popcorn in it.
I had a really tough time contacting them about the problem, ended up having to send back the empty box, and after chargeback threats, and various other tactics I got my copy of bleem and Gran Turismo..
The Bleem was clearly a CDR, and didnt contain any packaging, just a white slip case.
Also, even further back, I ordered DBZ legends when the import came out. I recieved order rather quickly again, but this time when I tried to trade it in a few years later, the guy at "Pandora's" told me that it was a fake.. I didnt even notice but the PSX logo was backwards.. LOL
Anyway thats my experiance with them.
I have gone to one of their stores first hand, LONG time ago when they had a shop set up in a flea market in MD.
