They have this new Afterwards program which I personally dislike on C-span. The reason being that it's antagonistic by placing two individuals with conflicting views to discuss a book. So you just have two people arguing in a circle for an hour. SO most of the time its pretty crappy.
But tonight they have Bill Press vs. Roy Moore. He's the judge who got in a judicial battle over the ten commandments in the courthouse. Now, I don't know necessarily where you may fall on the issue. But the man's logic is so torturous that I literally have questions about his mental health. I mean, he is W-A-C-K-O!
Like, he says that Laws should not be made to enfore Gods rule, and the next sentence he explains that's because the constitution is Gods law therefore it's implicitly defined. And he keeps running in circles about that point. And I'm like, Huh? Bill Press asked him about Hindu's and he goes, "Well, we're not based on the Hindu Law or Muslim Law. We're based on Gods Law." Now from a historical perspective he's correct. But trust me, in context he was saying, "Muslim and Hindu tradition are inferior to Christianity." If he just said it once I would give him a pass. But he goes over and over again pointing out that Christianity is superior. I'm paraphrasing some quotes here. "It's not the muslim God, it's God's Law," "I would be personaly opposed to putting a statue of the Buddah in the courthouse," "This is a christian nation who're purpose is to advance the christian faith."
Look, he may have a point about the ten commandments (I don't agree with him necessarily) but he is a loon

Actually, he doesn't even have a point about the 10 commandments.
ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' not a law
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' not a law
THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' not a law
FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' not a law
FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' not a law
SIX: 'You shall not murder.' Law
SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' not a law
EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' Law
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' 50/50, only illegal if it's under oath
TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbour's house; you shall not covet your neighbour's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour's.' not a law
So, really, only 2 and a half laws can even be claimed to have a basis in the 10 commandments, and they're not exactly exclusive to any one culture.

PLus its not really his god's rules. They are my god's rules. My religion being Judaism. I think I should contact the RIAA for Christians stealing all the Jewish Commandments. There must be a copyright law about that somewhere.

Judaism stole fron summerians, zoroastrianism and countless others, Christians stole from judaism, muslims stole from christianity and judaism, baha'i stole mainly from judaism, christianity, and islam but also zoroastrianism, hinduism and basically every other religion, and many others stole from countless more. It's the nature of religion, and half the time they're worshiping the same god anyway.

This is the problem with the vast majority of political discourse in America today. Who speaks most often for the right? Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, and their ilk. Who do you hear from on the left? Michael Moore. All of these people do their sides a disservice by being idiots.

The question I have to ask is : How did this guy become a judge in the first place?

I don't know how long you've lived in Berkeley, but they do things just a little bit different in Alabama.
George McGovern, for instance.

Yeah, well, the Jews decided to kill our savior. So we're pretty much even.

Most scholars seem to think the romans did much more than the jews ever did, it just wasn't smart to blame the romans when writing texts because of persecution. Someone claiming to be a savior (which there were many), a person who will free the jews and become their king according to the belief, was an enemy of the state. Pilate was brutal and would have had no qualms about carrying out an execution.
Besides, gods chosen people rejecting his son also serves as a moral message.

Jesus H. Christ, I hope you're not serious.
BTW, which religion did your savior attest to following during his lifetime?

You've evidently never thanked them for it. What kind of savior would he have turned out to be if he died of old age, gonhorrea, or was trampled to death by a mule?
myke.
