EA DELIVERS CRUSHING VEHICULAR PAYBACK IN BURNOUT REVENGE

Players Rip Through Traffic and Settle the Score
In the Sequel to 2004's Racing Game of the Year

Chertsey, Surrey, UK - April 4, 2005 - According to the 2004 Urban
Mobility Report by the Texas Transportation Institute, U.S. commuters
endured 3.5 billion hours of traffic delays in 2002, at a cost of more
than $63.2 billion. It's hell on the highway and Electronic Arts
(NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced plans to let gamers live out their
wildest commuter fantasies this September with Burnout Revenge(tm).

Burnout Revenge lets gamers rip through rush hour traffic and lay waste
to scores of rubbernecking roadhogs in an over-the-top scene of
vehicular mayhem. The game is currently in development by Criterion
Games for the PlayStation(r)2 computer entertainment system and Xbox(r)
video game system from Microsoft.

Burnout Revenge is the sequel to 2004's award-winning Burnout 3:
Takedown, which has garnered dozens of awards, including "Game of the
Year" by Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, "Multiplatform Game of the
Year" by Electronic Gaming Monthly and "Best Xbox Game of 2004" by
GameSpot.

In addition to tricked out new race, crash and road rage modes, Burnout
Revenge takes the series' blistering speed and spectacular destruction
to dizzying new heights with an all-new Revenge mode, challenging gamers
to battle the clock and unleash their frustrations on rush hour traffic.

EA will debut Burnout Revenge at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)
in Los Angeles on May 18, 19 and 20, 2005.

I really hope this series dosent get too watered down from the annual release schedual EA likes to lockgames into. Rush Hour? sounds interesting we'll see what happens.

I probably would'a prefered a version for the PSP though.

No GameCube. It's dismaying how fast the well is drying up for that system while the other two get new titles added. There was a little interview piece on IGN with one of the longtime NOA execs asking about the gaping holes in their release schedule where netire months are coming with nothing worth mentioning due to arrive. In typical coprorate doublespeak he did everything but address the actual question.

I thought being under EA might at least lead to a few more GC releases than otherwise but publishers seem to dropping it regardless. Under these circumstances backward compatibility may have limited value.

Burnout 3 is probaly the funnest racing game I have ever played. Hope the next one takes it to another level.

I'm just gald its current gen, not next gen. There's no way I'll be able to buy any next gen systems for at least two years after they come out (I'll still buy games on the cheap for them though, so when I get the systems, I'll probably have like 20 games for each :) ), so any new games announced for current systems makes me happy, let alone a sequal to one of my favorite games! YAY!

way to outsmart the system...:applause:

it's an awesome game. i'm sure the original will continue to have a presence on XBL even when the new one is released. does an E3 debut mean that a release is soon to follow, or will they just have some playable form available with completed version still in the work for month afterwards?

I bought Burnout 1 for $6... I raced twice, went to bed and started Riddick.

I'm on board as long as they turn down the goddamn rubberband AI. Crash mode was pretty great, though.

Well you can always think of it this way: the game was acclame's before it was EA's.

Now this is just damned stupid. If you like the game, buy it or rent it or even play it at a friend's house.

Sounds fun. I'll probably rent it to death like I did Burnout 3 with those awesome free Hollywood Video coupons that are on the back of Bugle bags. Then I'll pick this Burnout 3 and 4 when they are either ultra cheap used, or ultra cheap new or after a GGC. :D

I'm not really excited about this game. I think I was like 1 out of 5 people in the world that didn't think Burnout 3 was "so awesome" like everyone else did.

I got the latest issue of OPM in the mail yesterday, and the first thing I looked at was the Burnout article. Looks great so far. :D I might actually pay the full $50 when this is released.

It's 400,000 and EA doesn't switch their games to GH status right when it qualifies, they like to wait on it.

There's a new video up at Fileshack (http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=6926) for Burnout Revenge.

From the video looks like hitting traffic isn't instantly a crash, you can actually land jumps, and you can use the crashbreaker after crashing in races, although the last one isn't very clear.

It was posted in the PSP forum. Plus, this is an old thread and the game was just announced the other day.

It's up over at Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/driving/burnoutrevenge/media.html) as well, which I don't believe requires registration to view it. I just posted the Fileshack link because I read about it at Shacknews (http://www.shacknews.com) first.
