In the email they sent me they clearly charged me $15.35 total, but in the reciept that came with the game it said $15.40

Now that may not seem like a lot, but if they steal a few cents from the thousands of sales that they make - it adds up to millions.

I let is slide this time, but I'm not gonna let it happen again. You guys should double check your stuff too.

It's ok. You're one of those rich, right-wing kind of guys. I'm sure you can afford a slight over-payment to EB Games once in a while. Just use your "tax cut for the wealthy" refund (courtesy of your main man Shrub) to pay for it.

Oh man, I have to give this one only a 2/10 on the troll-o-meter. Lame, no comedic value, blunt...at least put some effort into it, Max.

People shouldn't be trolling on the deal boards (or this site for that matter), anyways.

This isn't gamefaqs people!

Eh, seems like enough of a reason for me to boycott EBgames.com.

I think it has to do with them miscalculating tax. I was charged $0.94 for tax on a $15 order but when I got my packing slip, the tax was the correct amount of $0.90.

yea, if they do this to everyone it would add up.

but he is probably just to lazy to email them and complain about the 5 cents, lol.

It probably is just tax miscalculation, as YoshiFan1 wrote. Just as a side note regarding the original post -- a few cents multiplied by thousands of orders, will not add up to millions of dollars. Probably not even hundreds.

I got it to.

I ordered some of the Monkey islands and wrote down the amount.

I was just going through the box as I didnt even have time to open the games yet and looked at my receipt ....

$1.99 for shipping I clearly did not know I was getting charged and my initial order info from them didnt state $1.99 for shipping.

I remember not to long ago someone complaining about this same thing when they ordered an XBOX.

A few cents out of everyones order can add up to millions. It is called the penny scam.

About a moth ago, EBgames randomly charged me $.09. The charge wasn't affiliated with any specific order, but they didn't charge me for wrapping paper on a previous order. I thnk EBgames account management is just a little messed up...

Oh, and Max, what are you, like 12?

Which amount was correct for your tax rate, the original checkout price, or the final charge? If the final charge was wrong, I think you should definitely bring it to their attention.

.10 x 999,999 = $99,999.90. That is assuming an awful lot of orders, and overcharging an average of 10 cents per order. My point was that they would have to do it on tens of millions of orders, not just thousands, for it to add up to millions of dollars.

wow, you guys are over doing this. EB even says on their site that the tax is an approximation, you will be charged the correct amount when you finally pickup the order in store/ charged on your credit card. It's all good

Thanks for the info.

They still need to change their methods for calculating tax though. It IS possible to always calculate the appropriate tax rate as many websites have proven so why do they have to approximate? It just doesn't seem right.

Maybe because tax varies by county. I know back in Ct it is %6 for the whole state, but it baries by county in Cali and Illinois, Wisoconsin too. It could go by where the nearest ebgames is to you. Who knows.
