California does have nice weather, as long as the earthquakes don't bother you. Maryland on the other hand is up and down, 110 degree days in the summer with suffacating humidity levels, 8ft snow drifts from blizzards in the winter. it's not bad, but the humidity in the summer is pretty nasty.

I just bought a 2001 Nissan Altima at the end of February (all cash, no payments, yeah!). I've had 3 cars before this one, the first 2 didn't have A/C and the 3rd one had A/C but it didn't work. That little blue button just mocked me every summer.:evil: The first car (AMC Concord hatchback, early 80's) was a hand-me-down from my dad, the second car ('84 Ford Tempo) was $70 and the third ('87 Ford Tempo) was free. I'm not just a CAG, I'm a cheap-ass in almost all walks of life. That's how I was able to buy the latest car for cash, though.:) As long as you plan, being cheap pays off in the end and knowing is half the battle.

I think it's a bit more like they've figured out they don't have to be lady like when their fathers/boyfriends aren't around. Personally I'd rather people do some mildly idiotic things when they are 20 so they have some rationality to base their prudness on in the future.

As an example, girls like to hang around with me. I have a lot of female friends, and I don't generally become friends with guys. I always try to treat women with respect. So when I have a relatively new friend, it can be hard to try and get the door for them (or other such things) before they do. It takes them awhile to realize what I am doing, and when they do they think that I am strange. But either they like me treating them with respect, or they take it the wrong way. If it is the latter, I eventually take an opportune moment to explain that that is the way I treat all women and that it is because of the respect I have for them, not because I think that they can't seat themselves or open their own car door, etc. And they always understand and don't have a problem from there on out. But it is to my dismay that most of these women that I hang out with become used to being around me so much (and I know this from multiple girls telling me about it) that they get to the point where I will not even be with them when they are approaching the entrance to a building and when they get to the door, they just step a bit to the side as if someone were going to open the door for them. But guys just look at them strangely as they pass into the building. I think it is cool that the girls learn to want to be respected. But I think it is sad that most guys in this world don't have the human decency to treat a lady like a lady. I know that I open the door for women that I don't know as we approach a door together. I don't see what's so strange about a stranger doing so. (BTW, it is just the younger generations who have a problem with this. I have never met an old lady who isn't tickled pink when I hold the door for her on the way into a grocery store or something.)

I make it a general point to hold the door for anyone approaching the door. To prevent myself from becoming a permanent doorman, I hold it open for the 2 closest ppl and then go on my way. It takes them awhile to realize what I am doing, and when they do they think that I am strange. But either they like me treating them with respect, or they take it the wrong way. If it is the latter, I eventually take an opportune moment to explain that that is the way I treat all women and that it is because of the respect I have for them, not because I think that they can't seat themselves or open their own car door, etc. And they always understand and don't have a problem from there on out. But it is to my dismay that most of these women that I hang out with become used to being around me so much (and I know this from multiple girls telling me about it) that they get to the point where I will not even be with them when they are approaching the entrance to a building and when they get to the door, they just step a bit to the side as if someone were going to open the door for them. But guys just look at them strangely as they pass into the building. I think it is cool that the girls learn to want to be respected. But I think it is sad that most guys in this world don't have the human decency to treat a lady like a lady. I know that I open the door for women that I don't know as we approach a door together. I don't see what's so strange about a stranger doing so. (BTW, it is just the younger generations who have a problem with this. I have never met an old lady who isn't tickled pink when I hold the door for her on the way into a grocery store or something.)

I don't understand the need for girls to try and be as unlady like as possible today either. But I think that girls stopped expecting to be treted ladylike and guys stopped treating them that way. I think that is why girls have grown to not act like ladies.

I have friends that became close friends quicker because they were the 2-3 guys that didn't hit on me, just were nice and made conversation and didn't expect anything out of my friendship and didn't feel the need to treat me either like a princess or like one of the guys. Yup, I'm always holding doors for people (especially older people). Not a lot of effort and it always means more then the minor amount of time it takes to do. I'd say a big part of it is all the emtions that result from going out for years. You can't stop dating someone and then expect your next relationship to feel the same right away and chances are if it does it's a get over relationship that won't last very long.:D

I actually hate it when people say "was it worth it". I understand alot of money and time went into the relationship but saying it wasnt worth it is total bullshit. Every relationship i had is worth alot to me. I think people just say that to make themselves feel better about the loss. I spent tons of cash on one girl and didnt get any back, and i didnt care. Actually it's a slightly asian culture area/college town area near Bmore, so it's pretty diverse in race, the college-aged white people tend to come in in groups, people who look at the ps2 accessories generally touch everything (I don't know why), and I knew what time he said he was coming in. ;)

yeah it's like tomorrow (I guess technically today, now). The store credit just sits there till you claim it, you'll get phone called the heck out of for a bit, but you could always just use it to buy four: bags of twizzlers, random nintendo-themed gummy candy or tasty spiderman web fruit-rollup-type-stuff for .40 cents difference. (I'm stuck there a lot while hungry, I've bought and sampled almost all the candy we sell at some point when I can't send someone to get me food.)
