I stopped watching after they cut most of the Screen Savers crew.
I think I made a good choice.

I've never seen any shows on the channel. We only get "basic cable" here at the dorms... ;)

The one from Filter? But yeah, G4 is getting even worse. The only time that I will probably ever watch it again would be for E3 coverage.

You have a computer where you can see zillions of naked girls... yet, you watch some geek show to see some chick.

Yeah, I remember watching The Screen Savers when my old cable company would give free 'previews' of stations for a couple days, thinking "Damn, this show is awesome! I wish I got this station!" So, years went by, finally upgraded to Dish a few months ago, right as the Alex era of TSS was coming to an end. That brought them into their new incarnation, and it was a really different show, but I still liked it. I liked the older one that I saw better, but this was okay for now. But, of course, the whole focus of the show changed over time, to the point that they just went and changed the name. Now, I watch it once in a while, if I'm bored and nothing else is on. They're really stopping to the lowest common denominator now. I saw an episode where they advertised suicidegirls and then did a completely stupid segment on installing a camera in a DDR machine. "whoa dood, u kan see up teh chicks dress! omg its a fat dood, i so did not see that coming, itz so hilarious!!" But, hey, whatever pays the bills, I suppose.
I feel dirty even aknowledging that car show they've been advertising. It's like that old Penny Arcade cartoon, where they talked about how the people that used to be the 'popular' kids in high-school, who used to beat them up were now the ones that games were being marketed to.
Of course, being that I'm very interested in games, I do check out the shows they have quite a bit, simply because they're about one of my primary hobbies, no matter how crappily produced they are. That's just the way it goes. I still think it's pretty neat to turn on the TV and see stuff about games there, considering not 5 years ago, me and my buddies used to crowd around the newest issue of EGM just to check out tiny screenshots and 2-sentence-long writeups of upcoming games. I'm only sad that I seemed to have just missed the boat on the good programming.

The interest is greater when the woman makes a convincing act of sharing an interest in video games. It adds the element of fantasy fulfillment.

the screen savers does not exist anymore either. It is know Attack of the show yea that is orginal. and it is not the screen savers, I am not even sure who this show is aimed at. they way it is looking g4 is turning i nto spike tv for mainstream video game audience.

I used to watch Filter and Icons occasionally, but Cox Cable made my choice for me... They moved G4 to the new "Sports and Technology Tier" on their digital cable, and since I don't want to pay extra for a bunch of sports channels I'll never watch, I don't have G4 anymore. No big loss.

But how difficult is it to find men interested in computers, playing tennis, etc.? Try some area you find fascinating but most men find stultifying and see if it doesn't do something for you when a straight man shows an interest in the subject.
Before she took her 'three marriages and I'm done with romance' stance my sister took a very long time coming to realize that a man who shared her hobbies and wasn't flaming was also exceedingly rare.

Yes, I agree. While women have made many strides in what are normally perceived to be a guy's hobby, it's still viewed as a guy's (or even children's) hobby. The Grrl Gamer is still the exception rather than the rule... and that also explains why a buncha guys are all over Morgan Webb - they'll take what they can get right now. Really hot looking grrl gamers are even more rare so their rarity makes them all that much more attractive.

Arena used to be fun watching for like 1-2 episodes. Then it's just the same thing over and over. Play random game, then onto CoD, then onto Socom 2. Same fucking shit over and over again. I did like that Madden Challenge show though...

I'm just glad that now the final takeover seems to have happened.
I remember the old days of actual techtv, before they 'merged' with G4, when they were still in frisco...*sniff*
I went to a best buy once during one of their tours and stood in a really long ass line to get a postcard with the two original TSS guys' signatures...*sniff*
'Cause back then it was really good. then they've switched things around so much, changed the set, changed the kinds of topics they covered, changed the cast (although some of the cast seemed to change themselves when they didn't like what they were seeing, good for them I guess, although I would have rather seen an outright riot until they kept things like they were..*sniff*).
Remember when they got caught prerecording their "Live" calls for call for help? pffft...:(
then there was the fact that they had to keep mum on many of the things they used to cover, the dark tips got...less dark...etc...
Filter I hate. With passion. It shouldn't exist. That girl is soo annoying...not to mention her outfits... and if you pay attention it's the same format, down to each camera angle change...lamest flaky-est show evar...rawr... >.>
X-Play I like, although they waned back and forth in quality reviews throughout time, and I like Morgan, she actually seems like the type to know what she's talking about, not like stupid cheerleader-ra-ra-i'm-on-filter-and-a-boothbabe-girl. And I wouldn't call Morgan unattractive at all, she looks better in person, and she's stunningly tall (well at least to me she looked that way, i'm not tall)
I like cinimatech because I can leave it on as background noise.
As for the new 'attack of the show' thing, I actually kind of like it, because now, finally, they're at least doing their *own* thing. I get the desire to make it more understandable for younger audiences, and the whole new console market focus. mostly, I'm thinking, "ahh...now the original TSS can RIP." *sigh*
Since I'm not a big fan of Sarah (she just seems the type who thinks her trendy little ipod and a copy of katamari makes her geeky) I'm okay with the fact that it seems like she's getting less talk time in attack of the show (maybe it's for all those times she goofed, like when she didn't know what Wow was (after it went retail) then proceded to insult all MMORPG players...probably like what, 70% of the viewers???). But then, there's the Kevin's, both of whom I like...esp that Kevin Pereira...mm...heeeheee....;)

OTOH I like Morgan for the delivery of Xplay's brand of sarcasm. She and Adam Sessler have a good repartee going. I'm not the sort for web shrines, which I find creepy at best, but she has just the right combination of assets for the channel. Attractive but not the stuff of centerfolds, especially since she often goes without much makeup and doesn't appear to be a big fan of exercise for its own sake. With makeup and hairstyling she can be pretty striking but it's by going without the girl gamer image is upheld. The effect is convincing. If she isn't genuinely into games she does a remarkable job of faking it. This is someone you might realistically hope to meet rather than a pure fantasy.
By comparison, 'Attack of the Show' can be painful in the ineptitude of the presentation. They may feel they're trying to come off as real by not being overly rehearsed but all too often it just seems amateurish. The only time I've watched lately that a gag came off well was when Sarah (Lane?) was doing a report on Sony's much hyped patent on a direct sensory simulation technology. She repeatedly lapsed into Sony spokesdroid mode and then fought off the insidious mind control rays. A joke on that show actually worked for once.

Every time I see that skinny bastard on THAT channel I quickly turn it. What's his name? Kevin Pererra? He's on at least 50 shows on that channel. Don't they realize that putting the same guy in so many shows isn't the best thing to do? People do enjoy a little variety in their hosts. X(
Wasn't there some talk a while back of TechTV coming back? I thought I heard something about it... after it was raped by G4 I'd be suprised if it was true.
