My local FYE is an isolated one (next closest is 2 1/2 hours away) and it just opened. I'm wondering if they got nailed by a bunch of CC trade-ins because I just called and asked about the trade-in value of Maximum Chase, WWE Raw 2, and UFC Tapout 2 and the guy said they weren't taking any of those. I'm thinking he might not have known how to even look up the prices because I said "Maximum Chase" and I heard him type for like a minute straight, then he said "Hold on a sec..."....then came back and said "We're not taking any of those." I'll check again tomorrow. I do have a few to add though.

Well, they sell Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm for $50 so probably $22-26.
As for the second question, we've pretty much been doing that the whole time.

he's a good guy and all, but he has a lot of young children in his house and his games, cds, dvds, usually don't stay in perfect condition for long. so, i don't know how many people would have wanted it...but of course eb would take it, they'll take anything. just to give you an idea about this friend, yesterday i asked him about his mario kart pin for the metroid 2 demo, and he said he lost the case for the game with the instructions...meaning he only has the disc sitting around loose. and he wonders why i don't let him borrow my stuff.

They probably only offered 2.00 on 2004 because they already had a lot of copies. I tried to trade in a copy of haunted mansion, and they offered me $0.01. They had 5 used copies of it already, hence the $0.01.

As far as I know all copies of the Star Wars/Tetris Worlds have that 'Not for resale' tag on it. You'll probably run into some trouble when trading it in so be sure to ask if they could scan it to see if it appears in their system (and it will). The problem is...some SW/TW don't have a UPC.

I think it depends on the size of the store. I go to three different FYE stores and two (regular size stores) of them take trade ins at the register. The third one is a large store that has like 7 floors and they do all their trade ins on the 5th floor.

They can do the same thing at FYE I suppose but the 'Not for Resale' tag can hurt your chances depending on the employee doing the transaction.

They're not supposed to take multiple copies of a game but some clerks are pretty clueless so it's YMMV.

Also, open the games beforehand. Doesn't matter if they take them or not (although a lot of places figure you shoplifted them if new and refuse) but if you take a minute to open them it helps out fellow CAGers. If FYE's start getting a ton of sealed games as trade-ins, eventually they'll catch on and start closing the loopholes.

I also tried to trade in a Sega Soccer Slam for GC I bought at the TRU sale and had to deal with the biggest piece-of-shit manager I've met in retail. I still had the wrapping on it in case the value had dropped and I needed to return it to TRU. I failed to notice an extra bar code sticker on the shrinkwrap over the normal UPC barcode. When the bar code couldn't be found in their system, the employee called over Mr. Fuckface. The game didn't come up in their system and the manager told me I couldn't trade it in since it couldn't be found. Realizing the problem, I offered to take off the other sticker to try to scan the one underneath, he told me some shit that I had "bought the game under some other promotion, and so it wouldn't scan in the system and couldn't be traded." I asked why the fuck it mattered what "promotion" I had bought it under and again tried to explain why it would help if I removed the extra barcode and got the same lame response, slightly more irritated. My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief at this guy's smugness and stupidity. I looked him square in the eye and asked if I walked out of the store, took off the barcode, and walked back in and we started over if they could try to scan it. He replied "Wow! That won't do anything, you can't trade it in." If the motherfucker had been standing closer to me, I would have popped him in the fucking mouth at this point I was so pissed off by his teenager response (this guy was in his 40's with greying hair). Instead I just said "What an asshole" and traded in the other two games with the other employee. What a shitty experience.

Moral of the story? Make sure you remove anything extra on the package so you don't have to deal with fucktards like I did.

I checked with them last night on it, so until they decide to drop the price of RDR, it should work.

I think Go Go Hypergrind is done with having a high trade in value. The used copy I saw for sale said old price $43.99, new price (still for the used copy), $14.99. I guess they got smart and realized no one was going to pay $44 used for a game that can be bought for under $13 new.

I traded in the Tetris/SW combo for $26 on Sat. Disney's Party for GBA was $12. Spyro for GC was $7.50.

As for the Pro Race Driver (XB). I had mentioned earlier about the stickered UPC they have put over some versions. It's possible that some print runs were printed with the wrong UPC so that could be why they rang up at $5 or so. Unfortunately, I don't have any more copies of PRD so I can't get the UPC but if anyone does ...

On the other hand, if your copy had the wrong UPC printed on it and the alternate stickered UPC has been removed already, you're pretty much SOL.

Strawberries near Downton Crossing gives cash and are usually more picky and strict about trade ins than Record Town.

I sure was pissed when I saw the right one (You got served) fill up with games. Basically, I walked out of the mall with a reserve of GTA SA, 60$ in FYE Credit, and 40$ worth of EBGames store credit, and 2 games left over after 56$ spent on Preplayed EBGames. I'm not too happy, but I made a quick 30$, so I can't complain. Seriously though, am I the only one that this has happened too? I mean, the guy had his super reading glasses on just to check if there was one little fingerprint on the friggin CD. Sheeshe... picky bastard.

Yes.. at the FYE I went to a few weeks ago.. the guy made me wait 30 minutes and he was pretty picky too! They rejected my KOTOR because of a light scratch that was there because the disc came loose.

Did your game have the extra barcode sticker on the back of it over the normal barcode? I'm 99% sure that has something to do with it, otherwise all stores use the same computer system.

Star Wars/Tetris World, which is cheap everywhere, still has it's $26 value but the not for resale sticker makes it hard to trade in at certain stores.

And then there is Motor Trend Lotus Challenge, which is $3 new and $9 used at EB. Trades in for $27 at FYE.
