Black and Bruised on Gamecube might still have it's $27 value and that game is $10 at Eb and $13 at Gamestop.

Star Wars/Tetris World, which is cheap everywhere, still has it's $26 value but the not for resale sticker makes it hard to trade in at certain stores.

And then there is Motor Trend Lotus Challenge, which is $3 new and $9 used at EB. Trades in for $27 at FYE.

You've seen that game for $3 in-store? Doesn't seem to be on ebgames.com right now.

yes... if you use a $70 slip on a $50 game... the receipt you get for that game will also act as a $20 credit slip.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet but MX Superfly for Gamecube gets $8.50. I was hoping it would be worth more since I saw it for $25 used at another FYE (since Shadowman 2 also gets $8.50 but they sell it for only $15 used), but I only paid $5 for it so I decided to get rid of it.

I wanted to get Donkey Konga with my store credit too. I called a few Wherehouse stores to see if they had any in stock and was told that they, along with other twec stores (fye, strawberries, coconuts, etc), no longer carry new gamecube games.

Guess I'll just have to wait for the whole $31.99 backorder issue to blow over before I transfer my credit to a gift card and buy it at fye.com.

If that's the case then that really is horrible. I hope they decide to carry the DS system since that's probably what I will want to use my trade in credit on. Could they be mistaken about not carrying new Gamecube games since when I asked the cashier about Donkey Konga, he typed it into the computer at the store and said it's in the system but not in stock. If they weren't going to carry it, it's weird it would be in their system.

At FYE earlier in the week Motor Trend went for $27, Go Go Hypergrind for $26.

At Stawberries, PRD came up at $5 when the employee typed it in and Motor Trend rung up at $27.

I'll check sega soccer slam later if I see it at EB. There are two FYE stores in the same mall so it won't be a problem getting it scanned at both stores.

1. It depends on the store. Most give out store credit but some give out cash. Between the stores that give out cash, some will take 20% off the total and some will give you the full amount.

2. The cases and manuals just have to be in saleable condition. Dirt on the case and small scratches & tears are fine, just as long as it's nothing major. You do need the manual but sometimes you can get away without having one.

Stryder once again thanks for the info. I managed to get Go Go Hyper Grind (GC), Black and Bruised(GC) and Roadkill (GC) in the Gamestop buy 2 get 1 free sale this weekend. I spent like $32. I managed to get $76.50 in credit from FYE for all 3. :D I forget which was which but it was $25.50, $27, $24.

Couple of notes:
Pro Race driver is YMMV I think . I had picked this up first but when I tried trading it in it did not come up in their system. :x I ended up returning it for Black and Bruised and shelling out an extra $3. :x :lol: .

Also when buying these titles used make sure you look at the discs thoroughly. FYE seems to study these things like they just made some sort of archealogically find. :lol: Any noticeable scratches and dirt and they won't take it.

Nothing is better than seeing the look of amazement on the employees face at the value that comes up in the system for these pieces of crap games. :lol: :lol:

My copy only has one UPC, on the back of the case, at the top right. Does that mean there's nothing I can do to get it to scan? If so, then I'm stuck with this game (bought it at Gamestip used, and they don't accept returns on used games).

Just ask the person behind the register to look the game up in the system. If you lucky, it will scan at $27 but mine scanned at $5 last week.

Also, Gamestop has a 90 day warranty on used games and if that fails you can used PRD as trade in fodder at EB. It's not on the exclusions list so it should work towards one of their trade in offers.

Being new to this thread I apologize if this was already discussed. EB's return policy on used games sucks. I think it is best to stick with Gamestop. At least you can get your money back within 7 days. Ex: If you get Pro Race driver from EB and take it to FYE. If you have the version of Pro Racer driver that comes up $5 or not in their system you are screwed. At least with Gamestop you can bring it back for cash or store credit.

I avoid this, just for safety, by trading in multiple games at a time and waiting about a week minimum before trading again because the manager at FYE knows that I trade there often. :D

Yeah, no problem. I picked up Shadow Ops because I thought it might be fun but it was just too hard, on even the lowest difficulty, to even enjoy. I called up FYE to check what it was worth and I was shocked when it was $25 for trade in. That is a lot better than you could do at one of the other stores.

I asked about trading in accessories last time I was there and they said that they only took games, no accessories or systems. I didn't ask specifically but I'm curious about something like the Eye Toy because it is packaged with the game...

I don't think there was a Motor Trend Lotus Challenge on Ps2, unless you mean Pro Race Driver, in which only the XBOX version will ring up at $27 and you have to make sure it has the second UPC on it. There is a Motor Trend Lotus Challenge on Gamecube but I dunno it's value.

And yes, the trade in value at Coconuts is the same as FYE.

I find it hilarious how they inspect the back of the disc, but not the front. I've traded in probably 10 cds to them in the past few months. I tried more, but multiple employees insisted that they were too scrached up. Anyway in July I traded in a cd in the wrong case. I didn't notice until a few weeks later when I looked for it. I later went back and traded the cd I wanted to trade in originally in the other cds case. They spend 1/2 minute carefully examining the front, but in neither case looked at the cd to see if it was the right one.

I traded in Fable about 2 weeks ago and Gamestop gave me $24.00 trade in credit. I had been to at least 5 gamestops within a 10 mile radius looking for quality trade ins at FYE. I manged to find black and Bruised (again) but had to get it new $14.99. (I also found Go Go Hypergrind twice but it was so scatched up I didn't bother.) I managed to get Star War/Tetris disc for $7.99 used. Went straight to FYE.

Anyone know the best way to get guaranteed CD's that aren't scratched to hell? Basically, I got served by some manager who had OCD of CD's and only took the game that were basically new from me.... so I want to find out a way to get the stickers, scratches, and ect off the cases so they might accept it next time.

Just a reminder that Best Buy has Splinter Cell PT and Red Dead Revolver for $20 this week, which means you can get them for $15 after GGC.

If the values still hold up, they will be $25 each at FYE. So if'n you wanna save about $15 (once you add in tax) on a $50 dollar title it's worth checking out

You might run into problems when using DVD cases on XBOX (different color scheme is hard to miss) games but I used DVD cases on a couple of PS2 games and they didn't blink an eye about it.

If you're talking Xbox games, I'd say that they'd notice. If you're trying with PS2 games, I've done it before and they haven't noticed (or cared...); the only time they said something was when I tried with an old Blockbuster rental case. Hope this helps, either way good luck.

How would switching cases help? EB Games puts a white sticker over the case so they can tell if it has been opened or not. And they will not give you a refund if the seal is broken. As has been stated before, a lot of these games have extra barcodes which is what makes them worth what they are. Without the extra barcode, they are worth jack shit. Case in point...the guy tried to manually punch in Pro Race Driver and it came up $5. I very politely asked (and the guy was extremely cool anyway) if he would use the scanner and it came up $27.

They are still selling stuff like Pro Race Driver and Go-Go for $15 used, they are the copies that I sold to them hahah. I could theoretically buy them back with my credit, but I usually just get them from EB or whatever. I'm beginning to think this loophole will never be caught unless FYE finds out by dumb luck because it is basically because of the extra barcodes. FYE is my favorite video game store on earth right now, I never thought I would say that. If we had a Gamerush here, it might be different, but we don't. :( Buying all of the new release games that come out during launch week for under $20 is just fucking amazing.

I think it depends on the person at the register whether they ask for ID or not. I have been to one location about 5 or 6 times and there are 2 different managers there. One manager always asks for ID. The other one asks me if I have traded in games before and I say yes, he then asks for my phone # just to pull up my name, and does not ask for ID.

Ran into a little problem trying to trade in a game at FYE today. The clerk scanned it in and couldn't find it in the system. Apparently "Pro Race Driver" for Xbox will possibly come with different UPCs:

The thing that I'm most worried about my FYE is them not accepting the game. I mean, most of my games are mint, they accept those, but ones from EBGames.com or stuff like that usually aren't in the greatest condition which really sucks for me, because when I get them, I can only return them into my EB for store credit, not a full refund. I guess I'll try to find cheap games in great condition in store from now on, but I donno. I mean, 120$ just isn't enough for me quite yet.... Once I get in the thousands I'd say that'd be uber.

That's why I am concered about ordering games from EBGames.com for trade in as well. If they don't accept the games, you are stuck with them. And since there is no way to see the game ahead of time, it makes it more difficult. For the most part, when I buy stuff specifically to trade into FYE, I try to buy it new so I know it will be accepted.

To answer your question about how many they can keep in stock. Some seem to be store specific. Most of the stores nationwide keep 2-3 copies. The stores around me only keep two used copies. If they have NONE new, then they might take a third one. I know one store will take up to like 6 but it's very far from me. This one is a big YMMV

A little side note. It would seem that none of the EB's around me have Battle Engine Aquila, and only one gamestop has it within 10 miles and that one has a printed half an insert. GameCrazy wants like 40 dollars used for this game. It's almost the same with Lotus Challenge. Those seem to be pretty rare

If nobody did shadow ops yet. I found that the best way to do it is get it from BB with GGC. It comes out to 16 dollars including tax. And you know the condition wont be a problem here. Other stores have it for like 17 bucks used.

Also if you want cash for your games. I suggest you go to yellowpages and find a Strawberries. All strawberries in my disctrict gives cash for games.

A few other things to keep in mind:
- Mission: Impossible -- Operation Surma fetches $17 for GC version. Couldn't find it for cheap but if you already have it, this is more than what you get at GS, GC, or EB.

Need for Speed: Underground seems to be $26 for PS2 and $24 for GC and XBOX. Sears had this for $20 and I snagged a copy. I've heard that there is gonna be a universal drop for this by next month.

there are so many copies of the game that no one botheres changing the $49.99 tag on them.... they scanned in at "PROMO $24.98" meaning the price with the promo was half that... sure enough... it was and i ended up with 3 for $25.00..... using BOGO too...

I'll try Timesplitters once I get it delvered, it's only $4.99 used at EBGames.com so a/c it's $4.24, but I guess you are taking a chance on it being too scratched for FYE to accept it. Unless I somehow get it tomorrow or Friday (it's possible since even with free shipping, I usually get my order within 2 days because I live so close to their shipping warehouse). Otherwise, I won't be able to try it until next Monday.
