Looking for a Cheap Ass 12 inch Powerbook. Preferably with Superdrive. New or used. Not picky otherwise. The cheaper, the better.

Thanks,
Chris

That was great. Read every page of the PDF file he included. Wonderfully amusing stuff.

do you go to college or school.. some of them offer school discount.. maybe if you check online for those information might save you a couple hundred.

If you're looking for a brand new one, the cheapest you can get is a student discounted powerbook. You can get that discount anywhere Apples are sold. For slightly older models, there's a company that sells refurbs and such--I get their catalog every month, but at the moment can't think of who it is for the life of me. They're cheaper, but not cheapass. Perhaps somebody else can tell you who it is? LOL

The student discount is hardly anything to gloat about. Buying it from a place like J&R or Small Dog is cheaper because of no tax when compared to the student discount.

Guess, Apple and Cheap Ass just can't go hand in hand.

Actually the reason I want one is because I am a unix/linux snob, and kind of getting sick and tired of *trying* to make things work in Linux. I'm also a Computer Science student and having a useaeable unix is very appealing.

My only advice is to check www.dealmac.com frequently and possibly sign up for a deal alert through them. Good luck.

I second dealmac.com. They always have some on sale, especially the 12". http://www.smalldog.com/ has a lot of refurbs, too, and is respectable.

Could any of you get the movies to work on the p-p-p-powerbook site?

Nope, and I tried every mirror. Oh, well.

Thanks guys,

Not sure if I will get it, as I was hoping for cheaper, but Amazon has a nice one for 1299 + 150 rebate.
