People always find ways to cheat. I remember somebody telling me that one of the first Sega football games on live would let you get delay of game penalties over and over forever. So some poor sports, when they were so far behind they couldn't come back, would just let the game sit and give them delays over and over for hours at a time. Basically turning it into seeing who was more stubborn, or had their connection go down first.

Hell when I play chess online every so often somebody I'm beating will decide to offer me a draw over and over and over. Just to try to get me to screw up (it can break up your mouse drag) or have me accidentally click 'Accept' that 100th time. Very lame.

The latest OXM mentions 'cheating on Halo 2' as the biggest downer of the month. When I saw that I knew it must be REALLY bad.

And this guy changed his id from usedtelephones to lagswitch*com just last month. I guess the used phone business wasn't going so well :rofl:

It's bad enough that I won't play in a Matchmade game unless the team I'm on has the host, just to try and prevent being cheated against. And even then, that's not a guarantee on it.

Bugnie's patch for these issues can't come soon enough.

Yep several games automatically boot you out if you're lagging behind everyone else. Crimson Skies, for one, and most other games the host can kick anyone out or you can do a group vote out etc, so anyone using a cheat like this won't get very far.

Do you really need to buy one to see how it works? It's just a box with RJ-45 jacks connected to a light switch to connect/disconnect the lines to cause lag. It works the same as unplugging the line from your Xbox or hitting the standby button on your modem, only it's more convenient. It should only cost a few bucks in materials to build.

i know somebody online who made his own the exact same way to lag in socom II. It just disconnects one or two of the wires and then reconnects them when you flip the switch back...
