DRE? I think you mean the ps2 section, unless you mean DDE.
If its DDE, maybe the disk is dirty, or your XBOx is messed up.
If its DRE, your ps2 maybe messed up or is a dirty disk.

yeah i meant dirty disk error. i have the old philips drive, could that be whats effecting it? this is the only game thats messed up with my xbox.
I'd say its probably because you're using a custom soundtrack. There's a bug with the game where you can't use certain custom soundtracks or else it crashes and says the disc is dirty.

I think it's because of a certain XBox drive. I've been using custom soundtracks and have done at least 50 races and haven't had a problem.

It's a certain soundtrack on your Xbox. So you must be using a soundtrack that isn't affected by the bug.

Maybe, but my Xbox is less than 6 months old and I've never even come close to having this kind of problem with any other game.
I got my Xbox last Xmas during their "get NCAA/Top Spin FREE" promo. It has a Philips.
My roommate is like you though, he hasn't had a problem yet. He has a Halo Xbox with a Samsung drive.

I've used four different soundtracks.. and I only have four. I've finished multiple races with each one on. No problems yet.
Samsung here.

*shrug* I dunno. Could be the drive. I'll report back when I get MC 3 and try it out on my Thompson.

Hey btw, does your Thompson "eat" discs? My cousin has him games get scratched to fuck, even if he puts it in once. He put in Close Combat, played, took it out, and there were light surface scratches all over the place.

It's a bug. The game will crash if you attempt to listen to a custom soundtrack beyond the first SIX custom soundtracks on your HD. In other words, if you have twelve soundtracks, you may only use the first SIX. Soundtracks seven through twelve will crash the program.

my thompson hasnt done anythign to any of my game discs although I'll ocassionally get a DDE until I open it up and blow the dust off the lens with some compressed air. I can have that drive closed for weeks straight but getting regular use and it'll still do it.

yea my friend had the same thing. he had like 20 custom soundtracks and his game crashed a good bit if he used 7-20.

I don't know if you found that out from Rockstar or something, but I don't think that's a problem.
After trying 3 different soundtracks and crashing each time I tried again today. I have my soundtracks divided in types of music (rock, rap, misc, and so forth). The custom soundtracks I was trying on the game had different songs from each "main" soundtrack copied into one "midnight club" soundtrack, so I could have a nice variety of music.
Today I just started playing it on one of the "main" soundtracks and its working fine.
I think what the problem is if you have the same song copied to another soundtrack on your hard drive, it crashes. For anyone having problems, trying making a soundtrack where the songs in there are not in any other soundtracks on your hard drive and give it a try. Worked for me. And I can listen to songs 7-whatever because the current soundtrack I'm listening to has 18 songs and they all play fine.
