Damn. I guess the demo didn't show how awesome it was, because it left a lot to be desired.

i felt the demo sucked basically, it just wasnt that interesting, but for a GS rating of 9.0 apparently there was something i missed

Yeah, I didn't like the demo very much either. I still don't think I'll pick it up. What a disappointment, I had been hyping this game since I saw screens...and until I played the demo.

i have the same thing gong for pariah, ive been praising every screen, movie, and detail of it, and i am still awaiting a demo disc, and from the sound of it, ill be just as disapointed as you are

I should rent this (although I barely seem to play games when I rent them) to see how it is. I don't have much experience with the Unreal franchise or 1st/3rd person shooters in general, but I loved Unreal Tournament 2004. I have yet to play the "Championship" series...

Not necessarily. Gamespot can be good with their reviews and is usually a little more consistent than, say, IGN, but just like any other site they can be "off" once in a while. You're allowed to have your own opinion, you know.
I also didn't think too much of the demo. At all. And unless they completely overhauled the control/play mechanics system (not f'ing likely), I wouldn't like the full version either.
As neato as I may think it would be to play as Raiden in an Unreal game, I'll still pass on this, at LEAST until it hits the $20 zone. Maybe a rental.

i also didnt like the demo AT ALL. i was looking forward to the game till the demo....
but i splurged today and went and bought the game... and hated it... at first.... but when i jumped online... somehow magically i got my bearings and i ended up being 1st or 2nd in the games i played. the game is more fun with more players and also you get a better selection of weapons (i like me the flak cannon and the sniper)
the game is fun though... it doesnt have a hooking/addicting effect like halo2 did... but my opinion on the game has changed having played the full game.... or maybe im lying to myself.
i must say though.... the bots are certainly harder than people are. and thats with the bots on the lower levels of difficulty.

i just wish halo had bots, then it could be a total addiction.
also, i am contimplating on whether or not to pick this game up. i'll see what type of trade in credit i can get, then go from there

I hated the demo also....I think the melee combat actions pissed me off. The demo just didn't seem right.....of course, it was a demo. I'll probably pass on it anyways.....I have enough FPS

I loved the demo. It was an excellent blend of third person and first person action. Just gotta find a way to pick this and Wrestlemania up..

I'm gonna snag this eventually after the nice reviews It's gotten. I didn't care much for UC1, this looks to be much better.

I picked it up at EB yesterday and I guess I'll try it out this weekend. Looked good enough to be worth picking up, and I think I'm on a Live games preference at the moment. Five months of Halo 2 has spoiled me, I suppose.

I thought the demo blew, so I'll stay far away from this.

Wow. EB just called me and said my copy arrived. I didn't know I had one on preorder. I had $5 on it.. kinda lame, but oh well. Was sad when he told me I didn't have it fully paid off. I'm broke right now, so there's no way I can pick it up.
Hmm.. Unless I do some trades..

i got it last night and played it off and online...the "story" mode or Ascension Rites is pretty cool and it's a good way of telling the tournament-like story IMO...
online is great as well, although as usual, there will be lag in the first week or so...but it felt right and felt like the Unreal franchise to me (I love unreal tournament 2k4)
it takes a damn lot more reaction time and maybe even a little more skill than halo 2 though...that's a good thing for those who get annoyed by whiney preteens (there probably won't be as many on UC2) .. noobies in halo 2 probably won't be able to just jump online and seem to have equal skill as rightfully skilled players
for those on the fence, i suggest a rental first..and play the rental on and offline for at least a few (4 - 7) hours to see if they like it :)

I totally agree. Picked up the game last night from blockbuster and played it for a few hours. The single player mode is an upgrade from the original UC for the xbox and the story is fairly interesting. Plus it's also cool how you can use your unlockable characters online.
The online play was fast paced, maybe too fast with a little bit of lag. Most of the people playing were pretty good, the same can't be said about me. All I can say is stay away from anyone who fights with Raiden.
All and all I wouldn't buy this game right now, wait for a price drop. But it's definetly worth a rental.

I hear you. I was sold on this game until Bungie's map announcement. I've barely gotten into SCCT, and now Halo is drawing me back with DLC and the autoupdate. Once playlists are updated in the next couple of weeks, that will be like a new game again. And it won't cost a penny. (unless I suppose you chose to pay $6 for the extra 2 maps instead of waiting....)
