Hah. Just letting people know, who didn't buy it yet. I like the game a lot but, its becoming frustraiting, doing things over several times.

I've had it with this game. I started a career mode last night, thought it was kinda cool with the custom soundtrack for your entrance. So I make it to my first PPV match, it's for the tag team titles in a TLC match against the Dudleys.

OMG...If you thought the online lag was bad, wait till you play a 4 player TLC match! The contorl was absolutely terrible! I wasn't wrestling with the Dudleys, I was wrestling with my controller.

The average TLC in this game is roughly 2 minutes. It results of one person climbing a ladder and another person (sometimes their own partner!) knocking the ladder over. I thought it was funny that the crowd boos throughout the entire contest (they seem to boo every time a weapon is used) I guess this game knows crap when they see it!

So after about 15 tries, I finially win the contest by nothing but PURE LUCK. What am I rewarded with? My fucking game froze! I felt like destroying my XBOX, until I remembered it was bulletproof. I'd be wasting my time ;)

hella cheap trade means I would be getting it for very cheap or next to nothing. Being you just paid $50 bucks for it and can still take it back, that would probably be your best option since I am not willing at all to give up much for this game. I have a trade list in my sig.

Same shit happened to me. The only problem is, if you return it, you don't get $50, so it sucks either way.

With my discount I paid $45...and considering I will get $30 back for trade at my store, I won't come out too bad.

I could eBay it, but the price seems to be averging $35-40 sealed at best.

Of course, I could just return it as defective, and get a sealed copy back...to which I can sell off that way ;)

Luckily I haven't had many problems with my game and my Xbox with a Thompson drive. Had one glitch where I got stuck as I was falling but it fixed itself after 10 seconds. Game only froze up once for me while loading a match in career. CPU AI could definitely use some work, won a triple threat ladder match without any problems since the CPUs were busy with each other. I'd give it around a 7-7.5 out of 10.

If anyone wants to play on Live, send me an invite or send me a message on AIM, the latter is probably the best if I'm not on Live already.

I just joined Gamefly; I hate buying rental (from Blockbuster, etc.) because they put unremovable labels on their titles. Does GF do this (or are their discs free of any identifying labels/marks)? If not, buying it might be an option for that price (despite all of my hesitancies).

There is no CAG Championship yet. I'm waiting to see how many people would be willing to participate in a league. If we don't have enough people here, there are several members of The Smart Marks Forums who are also wanting to do a league, so if both boards are short on players, maybe we can combine the two.

I'm just offering suggestions myself. I'd be glad to help run things, but I'm not going to insist on being in charge since some people might be comfortable with a more "established" poster being in charge. I just want to get this off the ground soon, and hopefully we can successfully pull off 1 show a week and a monthly PPV card. That's the type of thinging I've been wanting to do in a wrestling game for years. My friends and I had leagues for games that we kept track of via notebooks (which I still have), but online play with belts brings things to a whole new level.

Scorch, that sounds like a great idea. The only problem is that, since the game does not have official tournaments where we can set up brackets, we'd have to have it where one of the people who make it to the final match creates the belt or gets it on their Xbox by some other means, so that it can be won in said title match. Of course, if the finals turn out to be you and me, that'll be a moot point.

Just out of curiousity, is anyone keeping track of their online win/loss/draw record? I am, since I'm a stat freak. I'm 6-1-6 after just now whipping Shawn Michaels' ass again with Bret Hart. It's very satisfying when my opponents pick HBK and I make him tap to the Sharpshooter.

You know, it figures that the one online game I am successful in is the one that doesn't have rankings and leaderboards.

As I said, we could probably combine CAG posters and guys from TSM for a league if needed. Then again, we could just have the CAG belt and then I could try get a league going with weekly shows and a separate title, a league that has no ties to one specific forum.

If we had 4 people vying for the CAG belt, I feel that a mini-bracket would be better than a Fatal 4-Way. the 4-way would likely end in a draw due to everyone breaking up pin attempts.

So far, who do we have that would contend for a belt? Me, Scorch, Guyver, Myke if he keeps the game... anyone else? I'd better go check the lleague discussion thread.

EDIT: RIJ, I don't have the belt parts unlocked, so I can't be 100% certain, but seeing as how Cena just debuted the spinning WWE Championship, I'm pretty sure it's the US title.

EDIT 2: It looks like Superstar and $hady are interested in a league or championship tournament, as well as Craven once he gets the game. That's almost enough for an 8 man bracket if all are in.

Shit. I have $999 Million, but I can barely do shit because I need Legend presteige(sp?).. crap. I did unlock some legends and whatever else money would buy, got PPV plates for the belt, but holy crap, I couldn't unlock much.

Though I can buy as many CAW points as I want and be indestructable.

The Smoking Skull belt can be unlocked (when my status rises), which is great, because I looked for it in the menus and couldn't find it.. glad they didn't forget it.

I don't think it's Cena's belt, more or less a Cena design. It's got a picture of a lock and says 'word life'.. kinda lame. There's also Eugene, The Rock, Bret Hart and Undertaker belts.. I can't see them, though. Guess I was wrong about Cena's spinning belt.. sorry. It said Thuganomics belt and I just assumed.

Not sure how high you can edit these attributes, but my guy's stamina is now 108. It costs $35,000 for four points in Stamina.

This game BLOWS in regards to loading profiles, saving, modifying superstars, signing on xbox live, accessing profiles, and everything.. it's really annoying to load the same profile over and over. I was signed on XBox Live and played career and tried to enhance my superstar. I was told that I couldn't, because I was not signed on XBox Live, even though I was. So I signed out of Live, beat a career match, tried again.. now it says that I'm still not signed in through XBox Live and I can't modify this superstar. Of course, as soon as I went back to the main menu, I was signed in through Live. Now I just tried to sign on Live and it wanted to unload a profile.

God, this game is weird.

EDIT: Now this game just fucking froze when I was coming to the ring in career mode. I'm going to pull my hair out. BRB.

Modify Superstar finally worked!

My guy did a running elbow drop to a guy that stood up.. well, he started the animation, anyways, and then he fell flat on his face. Then he was up. Then he was on the ground rolling. It's weird how this patch fixed the game for some and made it more broke than ever for others.

My guy's maxed out on stats now. I can't wait to see what happens.

//edit: So, even though he's maxed out on stats, there are empty spaces in his attributes in career mode.

They need more patches. Now.

Oh, scratch that - actually, my Stamina, Strenth, and Charisma are maxed out and my submission almost is.. the countering and speed, however, are not.

Weird. I've never had any of those problems. The game hasn't frozen on either since it was patched.

One thing I did notice is that both myself and my opponent are signed out of Live for 10-15 seconds following a match, then automatically signed back in. It doesn't make sense, but it's really no big deal at all and it doesn't affect anything.

I do hate how I have to load my profile manually every time I turn on the Xbox, though. Half my wins haven't even counted toward my record because I sometimes forget to do that.

Yeah, the sign out/back in is annoying. I'm glitching all over the place now.. I hope it's not this way online. I'll try later tonight or tomorrow.. if it does, i'll exchange it for something else, I guess, and rebuy it through Gamefly in a few weeks. The only four i'd have to decide between are Midnight Club 3, Jade Empire, Forza, and Area 51. I LOVED the first demo of Area 51, but heard the second one sucked.. and I have played and like both MC3 and JE.. might go with Forza.. who knows. We'll see.

It's two completely different subjects. There is a huge difference in cheating and cheating online to interrupt other people's games.

I can vouch for Scorch. I've only played him on this game, but he certainly did not cheat whatsoever and, contrary to what some of you may expect from reading his forum posts, he's a very cool and genuinely nice guy.

I actually did use the money to buy attribute points and beef up my CAW, but it literally had no effect on his performance.. and I don't use CAW's online.. sooo.. yeah, there's nothing wrong with cheating in single player modes to get the most out of your game.. but cheating and unlocking cars for games like Midnight Club 3 or NFSU2.. that's not cool.

That is really weird -- especially considering another THQ game with online, Juiced, is going to queue cars in virtual space when you do online races for pink slips.

I feel bad for all you guys who keep trying to dig the game, but its glitches and bugs are killing the experience. You shouldn't have to tolerate so much just to have fun.

I have experienced very few rare glitches and bugs. I don't need tolerate anything to play WrestleMania. I honestly enjoy the game, and so do quite a few people I know who have been playing wrestling agmes just as long as I have, if not longer.

It seems to be one of those games people either love or hate.

So Scorch your turning in your copy for credit? and the glitchs/bad gameplay is still there, and wins/losses aren't on live scoreboards, and people can quit out of matchs so they don't lose their titles? This game has been a flop for me. I think I'll play it once in awhile and build up my caw for LIVE, but I doubt I'm gonna play this much anymore now, especially after experiencing the awesomeness that is Pandora Tomorrow on Live last night, and with new Halo 2 maps out and what now... not to mention SF:AC and all my other racing games still kick ass.

Studio Gigante requested that THQ give them 3 days for a full-fledged patch, THQ said "1 day for an online patch and that is all".

As for THQ, rather than repressing and doing a recall (more $), or just quietly releasing an "updated" WM21, they're going to do what is smart for them and try to keep it under wraps. If they were to do anything related to a re-release or recall, THQ would lose LOTS of money and their reputation would take a huge hit and they'd be in a VERY bad position (how many people want to do business with a compnay who can't even get the right game out to people?).

As for SG going bankrupt, I have no idea. Maybe WM21 was going to be their last hurrah or hope as Final Fantasy 1 was for Squaresoft, only instead of having a huge success as FF did, WM21 fell short of what was expected around the industry. Because of that, SG can't be expecting much support from publishers, because all publishers will say is "why would we support a game made by Studio Gigante (or contract SG to develop a game)? Those guys made that piece of shit WM21. If they can't make a decent wrestling game that will actually sell well, how can we (as a publishing company) make any money from a different genre game that doesn't appeal to half of the audience wrestling does?". And all THQ does is sit back and say "we made no mitake, this is all on Studio Gigante". And who are you gonna believe if you're a publishing company, fellow publisher THQ or small developing company SG?

As for SG going bankrupt, I have no idea. Maybe WM21 was going to be their last hurrah or hope as Final Fantasy 1 was for Squaresoft, only instead of having a huge success as FF did, WM21 fell short of what was expected around the industry. Because of that, SG can't be expecting much support from publishers, because all publishers will say is "why would we support a game made by Studio Gigante (or contract SG to develop a game)? Those guys made that piece of shit WM21. If they can't make a decent wrestling game that will actually sell well, how can we (as a publishing company) make any money from a different genre game that doesn't appeal to half of the audience wrestling does?". And all THQ does is sit back and say "we made no mitake, this is all on Studio Gigante". And who are you gonna believe if you're a publishing company, fellow publisher THQ or small developing company SG?

Interesting. The proof, they say, is in the pudding (a saying that I despise, but I digress). Wouldn't someone on SG's staff have access to the "final" copy, as well as access to the gaming press, to show that THQ is the company at fault?

Sure, SG may shoot themselves in the foot if they do that (what publisher would hire a developer that would sell them out for their mistakes?). However, as much as I shouldn't be, I'm surprised that THQ would do this, and not replace it somehow.

I'd be even more surprised that, if what you say is true (and given the quality of the game, I have no reason to doubt you), that someone, somewhere will find out about it and go public with this fact.

Nope. I was considering cancelling since I really only play the league games on ESPN consistently and maybe a few games here and there if I have time. I'm also looking to travel all summer so I wasn't sure it was worth it to continue. After a lengthy talk with the girl working the phones, I switched to a monthly plan.

Might work out great should I make some changes. Been wanting to start up with a new GT anyway. Probably the same as my CAG one if it's not already taken.

As for the WM21, I certainly hope there's no sense of foul play from THQ. If there is and SG is just getting the short end of the stick, as bad as the game may seem, I would go ahead and pick it up.

I was at a local video store today (Vintage Games) and spoke with the owner of the place. I was asking him about Wrestlemania 21 and he told me that he is not taking trade ins for that game, and that THQ recalled the game so he sent his shipment back.

I asked him how long before the "fixed" version would be out. He really didn't know, but said he would guess a month or two.

I'm inches away from biting on WrestleMania 21 and the Starter Kit deal at Best Buy. The promise of a new game disc coming out May 3rd may just get me to do it. I'll ask the folks at Best Buy if they know of such a thing shipping out. I just want to try this game out and see if it's any fun.

Read every post in this thread, but can the regular players (MattYoung, guyver) give me more thoughts of it thus far?

Keep in mind, I'm not a huge wrestling fan. I don't watch RAW or SVD regularly and I've never bought a PPV event. I just want something fun to play in single player. And any news if the match lengths online have been extended? 10 minutes seems far too short.

Well, I'm confused as to what's going on with the game. It seems they're only re-releasing the discs with the patch that's available online on it already, only fixing the replay glitches (as Scorch said).

Some people though (on other boards--hopefuls perhaps) that the new press is the "complete" build not this "beta" that's out now fixing not just the replay glitches but the other glitches that have been reported.

I'm tempted to just go to BB, pick up the game and keep it sealed until the 3rd to hear what the exact deal is, but I don't think I can keep a game sealed that long.

Same here. Picked it up tonight with a 3 month Starter Kit.

It's not as horrendous as I thought. The game's playable and I didn't notice all sorts of glitches. Only one that stood out was the announcer saying the finisher before the animation even starts.

I just don't like having to mess with the CAW since I'm not much of a customizer anyway, but I guess that's the only way to open up everything through career.

I can't figure out which camera to use though. I keep switching and forgetting which I've set it to. What do you guys recommend? Hit me up for a match as well. Might be a good tutorial for me since there isn't one in the game (that I know of).

And could the wrestling regulars point me to a place where I can get some good CAWs? I want to play with a decent character. Maybe an Ultimate Warrior CAW since I wanna open up Bret Hart (he's in the game right?) and play some matches with him.

Lucky for you. After I downloaded the patch, for some reason, my single player went to shit. Pre-patch, I had no problems. Now I get horseshit things like hitting someone with the chair, and it takes damage off, but they don't react. They just keep coming towards me. It's weird.

thats why you play with people on your friends list or your clan(if you have/had one)(i know your story with the CAG clan). and there is this great invention called mute, it works wonders in games with said incoherent 10 year old bastards. and as a rule,atleast lately, i never play a skirmish/slayer/btb without a full team. so its custom games until the team is filled. but thats just my opinion. on a side note, i don't own whacked and have never tried it, or i'd give it a try on live.

Played WrestleMania 21 online twice within the last day or two. It was OK. A bit of a lag, but you get used to it. Both matches went to a time limit draw. That, and I wrestled two cheating bastards who both used turbo controllers. That really killed it for me.

Don't worry, Scorch. I've had problems with career mode after the patch. It fixed the replays and shortened the load times a wee bit, but it caused a few problems. I have to be signed out of Xbox Live before I play or else it will often freeze during the loading screens in career mode. Also, it randomly freezes during entrances, so I often skip them in career mode.

Otherwise, everything's great. Except for the bastards with the turbo-button controllers on Xbox Live! :(

No prob...the Xbox Live messaging is a bit wonky in this game. I saw the invite went to check and all I could do when I brought up either of your names were "Remove Friend".

Ended up in a triple threat with these two random guys that ended up being pretty darn fun.

Not from my (limited) experience. I played my first match with Matt yesterday and he started kicking my ass all over the place (he was Bret Hart, I was Kurt Angle).

I got a few counters here and there and with around 3 minutes left I'd realized our health bars were both at the same level. Really, I'm surprised at how this game plays. It's not been laggy as I thought it would be online and it's really, really fun. Our match played out really well with swings in the match back and forth.

Now just fix the 10 minute match limit!!!!

Oh, and for the regulars on it, is there an easier way to get right back into the lobby with someone you just had a match against? The messaging system isn't so good in this game and the only option I can select after a match is Quit even though Rematch shows up.

Depends on who you're playing with. I agree that it's basically whoever makes the first move dominates, but if you've got a quick enough hand, you can reverse the tide of the match. My whole right hand was numb after playing against Matt.. I hit the hell out of the controller to get out of the sharpshooter. It's little mistakes that can turn the tide of the match, though.. for instance, he dominated as Hart, made a mistake, I took advantage, beat him up, did the FU, went for a taunt and I accidentally did a second one, he gets up, match goes back in his favor.. sharpshooter, I barely get out, run and clip his leg, work on the leg a bit, get desperate and pin after a clothesline..

I would imagine a triple threat would be more fun because the momentum can be broken up by a third party.

People are saying that, once again, in order to play the "fixed" version, you must delete all gamesaves and whatnot.

That said, this game is the most broken piece of shit ever. I've spent the past ten minutes on the WMXX stage having Shawn Michaels do a submission, me break it within 3 or 4 seconds, he gets up, taunts, I roll once or twice, and he does a submission again. Rinse and repeat, over and over for the past 10 minutes.

It's a blast online, and it was fine before the patch.. but geez.

It's not uncommon for people to rip games and stick their own stuff in. My friend did that with Smackdown vs. Raw, he used custom themes.. i'm guessing he just converted it to whatever the game uses.. or maybe it's a photoshop job. Who knows.

They're getting new copies in. My bro's store finally got the new ones in yesterday. Apparently, it says "Be A Legend" under Wrestlemania on the disc.. that's the only cosmetic change.. but there's a sticker on the outside of the case indicating it's the new version.

AFAIK, the people wanting the first disc back screwed up. You see, the new version won't work with old game saves on the system.. when you try to boot it up, it freezes. When you delete the profile on the HD, the game works, but shoddily. People trying it for the first time have had no complaints so far..

I kept my old copy.

The season conists of 52 weeks/matches. I got through only 10, though, before the patch and I haven't played career since.

No, we can't. I have a Samsung. I had a Thompson drive years ago. When my Thompson drive wasn't able to run Raw 2 on the launch date and I learned that Thompson drives are shit, I traded it and all my games in and got a ton of PS2 games.. then last April, I traded in all my PS2 games and sold the system and got a newer XBox. Haven't had a problem yet. The XBox itself was manufactured 1/6/04.

Not worth the trouble, man; especially since you likely have a 1.6 version Xbox, the toughest to mod (perhaps not as much these days, though).

I modded mine b/c I imported The Wild Rings from National Console Support; man, even the Japanese couldn't get a decent wrestling game on the Xbox! It's kinda fun, but given the trouble I went to, I'd rather have an Xbox I can resell.

I guess I'm just very fortunate since I started playing Wm21 again today and I still haven't had any glitches. In fact, the only real glitches I've had post-patch were during online matches with Scorch, and those may have been caused by his copy.

If you have a "slamming" move (such as a powerslam, suplex, etc.), use it on any one (or in the middle) of the four off-colored cell squares. On the third slam, you and your opponent will crash through the roof.

Yeah, you gotta make sure your opponent is out of it before you try to escape the cage. If you have reached the top of the cage, pressing buttons will help you swing your leg over the top faster, but as for climbing the side of the cage, it depends on your wrestler.

So anyways, I get to the point where I'm so pissed at THQ, I do something I never, ever do - I confront them. I'm not really a confrontational person (which is pretty much polar opposite to the way I come off on the board), but I decided to email them. Here's what they said. So you've put a patch and put out a "corrected" retail version, yet
neither of these solved crashes. I've had the game lock up every single

with the receipt where we bought it and send us a form for a free game in
the THQ library, SOMETHING to make up for this. Please.

When did you buy the game? Destroy all Humans comes out around June 16-18 or so. You have to send your game within 90 days... if you sent your game the day DAH was released, would you still be within the 90 day window?

If you aren't, I wonder if it would still be possible for you to get the game if you send it now. It probably takes a while for them to process stuff, so maybe by the time they get to your game, DAH will be out already.

Wrestlemania topic? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiise....

So I played more yesterday and experienced two more glitches.. as The Undertaker, I ran to do a clothesline on Foley, but I ran through him and into the upper left turnbuckle.. he ran into the lower right turnbuckle.. and both were stuck in a running animation.

In a second match, I experienced yet another glitch. Same competitors. On top of the cell, I ran towards UT to do a clothesline.. he decided to counter with a back body drop.. here's the result:

I've been emailing THQ back and forth and they've been dancing really, really hard around trying to give me a copy of Destroy All Humans for WM21, but they eventually cracked today.. I think.

Yes, I would like to exchange it, and i'm asking you if I could get
Destroy All Humans if I send it in when DAH is out. The receipt is
dated 4/22/05, and DAH is currently scheduled for a mid-June release,
and that would fall within the 90 days.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, release dates can change, and we cannot guarantee that Destroy All Humans will be available before the warranty is up. You may want to wait and see if you have that option, but please visit www.thq.com for another title that many interest you in case we do not have that choice available.

Actually your right, as long as it does release on that date. And, if they still hold true on their offer for that long. But I was reading your post wrong, I thought you meant your 90 days was up on the June 22, but actually still have another month on top of that. Sorry my mistake.

I'm going to be so pissed off if I send my game in and they keep it without sending DAH or my original game back to me..They gave me an address to send it to, i'm going to print off the email, circle and highlight the important stuff, maybe demand an autograph or two from the president of THQ.. :P

I stopped playing mine.. wanna keep it in the best shape for when I send it in in two weeks for Destroy All Humans.. :D
