In the mourning I went to go feed the turtle and I notice a red light coming from my entertainment room and the 360 system is flashing three red lights but I turn it on and then off and it starts rumbling all hard through the shutdown motion, I turn it back up and it works good but its making a loud noise when reading the disk. This will be my fourth 360 if I have to replace it.

Just got back from the Target store located at 2656 N Elston Ave, Chicago (near north store).

This ONE store is offering Xbox Live 12+1 month cards for $37.49 (NO TAX!) as an "instant substitution" because they are currently sold out of the $14.99 1600 pt. Microsoft Live Cards. I don't know why they are not charging sales tax, but thank GOD since Chi tax is like 10.25% these days.

THIS DEAL ENDS TOMORROW, 8/16/08. They had like 80 cards around 3pm today. I went back just before closing to pick up 2 cards and they were down to like 25. So if you want 'em, yall better haul ass down to this one store.

Thanks for the heads-up. Swung by today and grabbed Bioshock (they only had 2 copies left, i took 1) and the last copy of Bully. They had 1 copy of Viking something-or-other also priced at 19.97, 1 copy of The Club for just under $25, and a shit ton of Madden 08's and Tiger Woods 08's on the clearance end-cap... don't remember the prices though... maybe around $15 for the 360/PS3 versions and like around $10 for the PS2 versions? They also a bunch of crappy Wii shovel-ware titles on clearance (crap like Chicken Shoot, etc...)

I'm wondering if Bioshock on sale at all Targets? It was priced at $27.98 on Friday at my local store. If this is on clearance, does anyone know how long it'll take for this title to hit the $9.97 price point?

Tried to swing by Sears to see if that last copy of Scene-It was still there, but the doors were already locked at 6:30pm. Sign on the door says open till 9pm on Sundays. No wonder Sears is going down the tubes.

Hey somewhere more local since those places are kind of loud and some people may not want to drive that far. Maybe a local pizza joint or maybe at someone's house (I rent so no space). I don't have to worry about age restrictions myself, but hitting up a place like Super Just Games (aka Nickel City) up in Northbrook would probably open up the gaming to all ages (and fans of Capcom). Eating would be another matter, as agreeing on a good local pizza place would be ideal. Anybody around here try Wa-Pa-Ghetti's Pizza over in Wheeling? I've heard it's pretty decent.

Shieryda, unfortunately it's was 3 months before I noticed the theft so it's too late to go after the moving company now.

What happened was back in May, I moved from my old place to a sublet for the summer with the plan to move to a new apartment in the fall. Since I'd only be here a few months, I ended up putting all my games/books and such (maybe 35 boxes total) into a public storage unit back then but didn't discover the missing box of xbox & 360 games until this week. Went to pull a game to ship out in a trade and realized that one or both of the movers must have seen the box marked "360" and set it aside to steal.

After 3 months, those games are long gone. I suppose I could go to the cops but they would just have a good laugh and file a report - why bother. I was planning on just using the same company again next month to move, keep an better eye out to make sure nothing else gets taken and then not pay the scumbags when they finish.

If we had an original Xbox set up there, then I would've surely brought Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Dead or Alive, PGR2 (Chicago races!) and maybe Soul Calibur and Guilty Gear, too. Those are the games back-compat was made for. :) Virtua Tennis and Halo 3 would make for some good multiplayer on the 360 as well.

I built a crazy PC that can handle high end games, which you can read about on my blog. Lately I've been searching for cheap PC games. I went to Big Lots in Morton Grove/Niles (Dempster and Harlem). They restocked their PC games. I saw the following, all around $4.00 or $6.00 and the estimated quantities left:

City of Villains - 1 or 2, bigger box which includes the Hero Clix and such

In the spirit of CAG, I wholeheartedly agree (though the management would probably get annoyed by a dozen guys sticking around talking games for an hour or more after eating). $5 sandwiches from Potbelly or Jimmy John's could work well with the wallet, but seating at these places doesn't always work so well for larger groups. Portillo's by Old Orchard's got some movable tables if that helps.

In the spirit of CAG, I wholeheartedly agree (though the management would probably get annoyed by a dozen guys sticking around talking games for an hour or more after eating). $5 sandwiches from Potbelly or Jimmy John's could work well with the wallet, but seating at these places doesn't always work so well for larger groups. Portillo's by Old Orchard's got some movable tables if that helps.

I think Chicago is pretty damn good to live in. Cost of living isn't as bad as people might make it seem. I lived for 2 years either unemployed or underemployed for the majority of that time and my bank account hardly took a hit. Just have to be smart about your money. Tons of stuff to do and the people are cool. I can't wait to get back, I'm STILL in freakin' Texas/Mexico. Can't wait to get back. It's actually hot here in November for shaq-fu's sake!

I know all of those companies are slow, but gottaplay has a shipping center in Chicago, so I guess that should be better than the other two. Really depends on where you live. I've got a few properties in Orlando & SoBe* and they're grossly more than quite a number of properties I've got throughout Chicago, including the growing West Side & South Loop areas. If you move to a suburb like Schaumburg or Northbrook then, yeah, expect it to be similar (though still cheaper) to SoBe*.

There's a ton of stuff to do, from relaxing on Navy Pier to partying it up on Club Row on Lake Street to gettin' yo smarts on at the Field Museum to acting like a snob at the Art Institute and so on. This is not including finding nice little niche restaurants of a wide variety that would rival NY. I'd say probably the bigger advantage Florida has is the hot babe factor. But, if you're persistent (and hang around the Gold Coast area), finding beautiful young sweets isn't that difficult.

Taxes & gas are a bitch, especially if you live in Chicago proper as they tend to be grossly disproportionate to the national average (moreso the gas than the taxes).

Can't specifically speak of the CAG atmosphere as I'm usually busy working around the city or out of the city when the meet-ups happen though I'd like to think Chi-CAGs are good peoples.

*to be fair, South Beach IS fcuking expensive.

If anyone is yearning to hit up a Target Clearance rack, or two, you might want to hit up the Target on 40-something and Pulaski. They had a bunch of third-party PS2 controls, 360 charging kits, 360 wheel (official Microsoft). They had Face Breaker for 25$. I almost picked up Face Breaker but even for 25$ I thought it was a couple bucks too much.

Just got back from the Circuit City Clearance on 1030 W. North Ave. They didn't have squat worth it. I picked up Ultimate Ghost and Goblins for 9$ for the PSP. The games are only 15% off right now. I saw some Fallout 3 CE there. All in all I'd say to hold off. I over heard the cashier say that prices will e slashed 10% every 2 weeks.

I was at the Best Buy on North Ave on Sunday and I saw bins there but I didn't see any signs with the offer. So I don't think this deal is exclusive to the Best Buy on 87th. Just hit up the one on North Ave. Unless you want a Halo Legendary Edition. They had a bunch on 87th for 60$.

It would be nice to get a game going. I haven't had a chance (or excuse) to crack my copy open since I'm still playing through GTAIV. That's the great part about being a CAG, unless I get it cheap or free, I'm probably not playing it until 6 months after it come out. Obviously Gears 2 was a freebie which is why I have it.
