The 120 GB at Norridge rang up at $139.99 today. I picked one up anyway (1 left) and will try to price match it at the Elston store where they were listed for $99.99 but OOS.
I asked the manager at that store about the price earlier this week, and he said that they usually update prices everyday, and that the price should be universal. I was gonna call back today, but found one at Berwyn already.

Did anyone head out to Microcenter on Elston today? Just wondering if there were any pre-BF craziness, plus any game-related unadvertised deals.

I have the great fortune of attempting to return a used game at GameStop tomorrow. It's weird, sometimes they act like asses, some likes asses-and-a-half and others could care less. I prefer the ladder.
I've been wanting to pick up Harvey Birdman but even at 15$, which is what it's going for at Target, seemed a bit too steep. However, just ran a search at GameStop and its going for 10$ used. I can use the newsletter coupon and my edge card and get it for around 8$. I'll bit at that price.
Has anyone been to the GameStop on 31st and Halsted? Have you had any run-ins with Robert, Black guy with dreds? He has to be the worst employee I've encountered in quite some time. He didn't want to take my cellfire coupon, even though I've been using cellfire for about a month around the city, and didn't want to take my gameboy micro return, even though everywhere else I called they said they would. I say we boycott the shit out of that GameStop. Come on! It's like "dude you work in fucking retail. you're gonna have returns and coupons. READ YOUR FUCKING MEMOS!" Are there any cool GameStop managers from Chicago in here 'cuz damn. I want to be friends with you and shop at your store exclusively and fuck that biznaitch Robert.

I've been watching the clearance racks at Target and the closing CC out by work in Vernon Hills but there hasn't been much to see. Flipping soccer moms are killing this area. I'll be all over those here if anyone wants to network/swap/watch out for each other out here. I'm in Vernon Hills during the day and semi near the Schaumburg Target at night

For those in the immediate north suburbs, the GS at the Niles Civic Center is excellent and pretty much where I exclusively go. Out northwest, I've had good luck in Schaumburg at Golf & Roselle and at Barrington and Schaumburg roads. And directly west, the store in Aurora on Rte. 59 by Meijer was a frequent hangout when I lived there.

Nope. Got all the stuff I wanted/needed online. Only thing that even remotely caught my eye in going through the BF sale papers was Staples offering a small APC battery backup for $20. If my wife and mother-in-law decide to brave the crowds in Decatur (wife's hometown), I'll probably stop there. Otherwise, count me out.

At the Village Crossing CC, PC games are 30% off. Console titles are 20%. Standard DVDs are 25%, and Blu-rays are 30%. There's still a fairly decent selection of movies (knocked several off my wife's Christmas list) at that location. The console games have been looted pretty heavily--anything that might be remotely good is still listed at full price, so there's not much to be had there. I mentioned in another thread in the main video game deals forum that I picked up Crysis Warhead for $20.99.

I'm looking to do some local PSN sharing of games. This is an advertised function of the PSN, and even has a thread that exists on CAG, so this is completely legal. I'm in Evanston and hoping to find an individual who is interested in paying 1/4 the price of the following games. I'm hoping to form a formal local group of players (already have two people need one more person) who are interested in top notch PSN games at a discount price. I have not made it to a CAG meet up yet, but I'm willing to meet up prior to discuss any details. PM if you are interested.
My games include
Wipeout HD $5 buy in
EchoChrome $1.25 buy in
The Last Guy $1.25 buy in
Pixel Junk Eden $1.25 buy in
Super Street Fighter HD $3.75 buy in
Pixel Junk Monsters $1.25 buy in
Super Stardust HD Solo pack $1.25 buy in
Calling all Cars $.75 buy in
Everyday Shooter $.75 buy in
Super Stardust HD $5 buy in
So $21.50 I believe is the total buy in.
I'm hoping to basically do the downloading at my place since all these games are purcahsed on my main account. I would enter my account info and you download the games from the store on your PS3. They are yours to play after that. I'm in Evanston so some might have to make a drive, but just look at it as a great deal.
I realize there are five shares for each game. I'm reserving one in cases of HD failure. Please PM with any questions or if you are interested.

Knowing that he's being watched he still said all that stuff about selling the Senate seat. How stupid is he?
...Anyways, where are all the deals in Chicago? Anyone? It seems the only place with good deals is Amazon. I went to Circuit City and Best Buy over there in Burbank and those stores are a mess. I was looking for the Knigdom Hearts Re: Whatever at CC and asked one of the guys if they had any left. He said that the computer showed one whole copy left but that he couldn't go get it for me? He sent me to customer service so they could go get it for me. When I got to customer service I saw this long line and no attendants. So, I said fuck it I'll just go to BB down the street and get the price match and pick up Lock's Quest for 20$ too.
It took me, I think, ten minutes to find both games, Kingdom Hearts and Lock's Quest at BB. Everything was unorganized. Nothing was in alphabetical order the racks were overflowing. It looked awful. But I ended up getting the price match and Lock's Quest so it could have been worse.
When is Pajama Sam going to drop in price. I'm not even trying to pay 20$ for that game that's like a fiver maybe, maybe a tener.

^^^I saw a BRAVIA 46 inch that said it was $1000 off list price, but I don't think it was actually discounted that much (I think the list price was high). The store was basically half the size it normally is, most of the games are already gone except for 360/PSP games. The only things I think I will go back for is a collector's edition of Fallout 3, the PSP, a HDMI cable for PS3, or a cheap PS2 if they are there after the next drop.
They did have a LOST DVD on bluray that would be $60, instead of $100...I am assuming it is season 4 by the cover. Frankly the stuff that is left isn't any cheaper than what a CAG could get it for by shopping the sales.
If you guys are looking for anything in particular, shoot me a PM and I will make sure I look next time I am there. This one is in the burbs by my parents house, so I can go pretty regularly. I am not interested in M$ items, so let me know if there is any 360 stuff you guys want.
All rock band/GH games were higher than we can get them here. (Like $90 for GHAero bundle).

I was at one today. Games 30%, Guides 70%, DVDs 30%, Blurays 40%, CDs 40 or 50%. They had several GoW PSPs, but they were not 30% off. I might pick one up if it goes under $100.
I went to one today to get a TV stand, but the last one was gone. Though it was still too high.
The rest of the discounts look about right. Add TVs at 30%.
The game selection was mostly 360 and PS2 games. The last few I had my eye on are all gone. I did manage to snag Manhunt2 Wii for $10 last week. There was only one GOW PSP left in the case and about 20-25 PS2 slims on a shelf. Nothing else worth noting.

CC is pretty much 50% off all games/DVDs/CDs/Blu. It started this morning. The 7 God of War PSPs were all gone as well as all versions of fallout on both consoles. There are at least 4 other CAG/SDers (that I know of) in my area who keep buying up everything and it is really starting to piss me off.
Pkus CC opens everything and scribbles/cuts out the upc on everything that is sold. I was going to buy 5 or 6 games but when the chick pulled out the razor, I told her to forget it. :bomb:

Anyway, any Chicago CAGs want to buy or trade me for my used PS3 copy of Mortal Kombat vs DC? I want Little Big Planet, Call of Duty: World at War, Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, Saint's Row 2, or a combination of older games/money/PSN downloads/accessories/etc.
If you just want to try out MKvDC for a week or two, I'd be up for exchanging games for the holidays and then trading back later on. Hell, I'd be up for doing that with a whole ton of games.
I also have a copy of GTAIV for the PS3. It's new, sealed, unopened, all of that stuff. I can sell or include in a trade, too.

CC was 80-90% most everything today. I stopped by the one on Touhy yesterday, and got a Mercs 2 and a Far Cry 2 guide for $4 each. I also bought a Western Digital 120gb portable hard drive for $40. They probably jacked up the price before the discount, but I guess it was a decent deal.
I was a little surprised at how many dvds they still had left.
I grabbed a $2 PS2 controller from the ex-Gamers Paradise in Woodfield (new location and slightly new name). Never heard of it (Arsenal Slinger?) but it's got Macros! What plants crave!
I think most of those Music Recyclery places shut down. Last one I frequented was in Randhurst. Man, talk about the slow-motion death of a mall.

2nd zanies. Was just there last Sat.
I used to work at Second City. It's a great place. The performers when I was there were all funny, and I'm a VERY critical person when it comes to comedy. I wasn't working there just to make money. They paid $7/hour or something. I did it largely because I love comedy.
Here's a good tip - call up the theater and ask them what time the improv sessions start that are free to the general public. I think it's on weekdays that they have an improv performance in the main theater after the second performance of the night. I think it's usually around 9-10 p.m. Something like that. Anyway, the people who pay for the second performance can stay or go for the extra, bonus improv (the performances are scripted skits, which are really good for dates and not bad for single guys). People ALWAYS leave. Maybe only a few, but there'll always be empty seats that anyone off the streets can walk in on for free. Since they are improv, they are always new and fresh. The performers are much, much, much better than the improv I've seen elsewhere. So just call and find out cuz it's been a while.
Also, with Zanies, as much as I talked about the free impov, I don't like impov much in general. That's what's great about Zanies. Catch them on a good night with good comedians and you'll be in for a treat. I saw Dave Atell (sp?) from "Insomniac". That guy is freaking hilarious. I don't exaggerate when I say I laughed about 25 out of the 30 minutes he was on stage. It'll be about the same price as a ticket to a Second City performance, but it's a great experience.
One last thing, with Second City, there is a second stage with a different act and different performers. You enter through Piper's Alley. The tickets are cheaper, but the performers really weren't much worse than the performers on the main stage. Some of them might be better, too. The theater is smaller, too, so you'll probably have better seats. Either the second stage or the free improv is a good way to ease your way into it and see if you like it.

With Zanies it depends on the show, I think. I'd imagine a lot of them are 21 and over since they have a 2 drink minimum and they wouldn't want to miss out on that. It'd probably depend on who you go see.
Second City never has 21 and over shows. I've seen some really young kids go.

Are there any good comedy clubs or spots for comedy in Chicago? I've always wanted to go to some but never have.
I intern at Second City, so I'm biased towards it...but it has a great legacy for a reason, as has been said. To clarify, the free improv sets are Tuesday-Sunday, not just weekends, and normally open for seating around 9:45. Both the Mainstage and the ETC stage (which is the one in Piper's Alley and is in no way secondary to the Mainstage in terms of quality, trust me) have free improv sets, so sample them both.
For great improv elsewhere, the other two big names in Chicago are iO and the Annoyance. iO specializes in the longform Harold format and also has a hell of a pedigree in terms of name performers coming out of there/coming back there. For instance, Tim Meadows from SNL is doing a run of Sunday night shows there right now Their site:
http://chicago.ioimprov.com
I'm not as well versed on the Annoyance just yet (still newish to the city), but you can check out the website here:
http://www.annoyanceproductions.com
Also, for more up and coming groups, check out the Playground, which is a local improv co-op theatre. They basically do anything and everything, as the place is run by the artists who perform there. Shameless plug, my group (The Able Bodied Chaperones) are going to be performing there on Jan 13...come check it out if you get a chance. Their site:

Haha nice. I've never had Chipotle..free food sounds great but the weather and bus fair kills the deal for me.
Chipotle is all right. I prefer Baja Fresh. Not only is the food better, IMO, I also get 5 frequent flier miles for every dollar I spend there. :D
It's so good, but yet so baaaaaaaaad. I'm on the toilet within 10 minutes after Chipotle.
That's probably a function of how sanitary the workers are at the one you go to... unless it's across the board, in which case I'd recommend switching from spicy to mild.
I love Chipotle, and my Mexican-born wife does too, so I think that's saying something. I can't eat regular burritos (refried pinto, lettuce, tomato) any longer because of them.
And they're not owned by McDonald's any longer!

I got a bunch of shit from Block Buster's sale. I think I got around 16 or so games. However, most were ones I wanted and the rest well, for about 5 bucks what can I ask for. There are a ton of games for sale so if you're looking to flip 'em you should do decent. Hurry up though because I think today is the last day of the sale.

I thought Monday was the last day, not too sure. Flipping just seems like so much work though, unless it's for something huge and easy, it's too much legwork in this snow and cold. High temp for tomorrow? -1!!!
I got my hands on a couple of GTA4s (and a few other titles) to flip at my local BBV. Turned about 35 cash into 68 GS credit and got my 6 yr old a wireless guitar and the original Guitar Hero for her birthday with change to spare.

Hey guys. Hope you are all managing to stay warm. Let me know if this isn't the place to post this, but I'm having no luck on Craig's list and want to trade or sell some stuff. Let me know if any of you guys are interested. I'm interested in Call of Duty: World at War and Little Big Planet.
New, Sealed games:
Resistance 2
GTAIV
Used games:
Prince of Persia
Lego Indiana Jones
I also have the following, minor games that I can trade pretty easily. Ninja Gaiden (Japanese version, but in English or Japanese), Conan, Heavenly Sword (still haven't beaten it, though, so need some time), Unreal Tournament 3,
Eventually I'll be done with Dead Space, too, if someone has a good trade for it, I'll hurry up and beat it.

Never got any takers on this "deal", I'm reducing the buy in cost for all the games to $15. PM if you are interested.

Sparse? I dunno. It wasn't as destroyed as the Village Crossing CC near the end, that's for sure. I remember seeing a bunch of Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitar boxes/sets, XBL 1 month cards, crappy PS2 selection, overpriced PC software (altho 30% off the new stuff ain't that bad). I looked at PC memory, monitors, peripherals, TVs, but nothing stood out. Also, I had to pee and their restrooms were closed. :-#
In related news, I hit a bunch of Gamestops over the weekend and grabbed a bunch of old PC titles for $5 and less apiece. Call of Cthulu, Europa Universalis Rome, PREY, Guild 2 Pirates, Gothic 3, Sword of the New World, and Rag Doll Kung-fu. The last 2 were $2.50. Blew my e-rewards giftcards.

In general, the way games used to be set up, was that the entire back room to the left was games. where that glass case with the higher end games was, that whole section was gaming stuff. and now it's just that one section that used to be CDs. But the store period was picked pretty clean. A week ago, they had like 4 times as many games, and literally 100 Nyko Perfect Shots that I was hoping would make it to 50%, but were all gone Thursday.

WOW, what a difference a few days make! I went back to the Berwyn, IL Circuit City store and it was a mess, as a previous poster had mentioned. The games were in shambles and everything was mixed together BUT the glass case was still pretty full with games in the back of the store, gears 2, mirrors edge, resistance 2, endware, prince of persia and some special editions of fallout for the PC and 360. Also a couple of special editions for saints row 2, 1 for sure was for the ps3 but couldn't tell what the other one was.
Also still had quite a few PC games so theres that! Supposedly this store will be open for the long run so maybe they will be restocked at some point.
Game accessories - they had a ton of 360 controllers, cables and remote controls but ALL the point cards were gone. I couldn't believe it!!!! Oh well!!!!
ps3 - controllers and cables. didn't look to close though so they might have had other stuff.

So.. I went to the HIP CC and the games are getting sparse. No titles that I'm not willing to wait til the 50% mark for.
My other local CC had a nice selection of games... in fact while I were leaving, they were stocking DS games; GH:OT and and GH: Decades with grip and a bunch of other titles. Needless to say I'm taking another trip up there soon.

Just stopped by CC in Naperville on Route 59. A lot of guitar hero III and guitar hero world tour. Only 30% off right now, all platforms. Was hoping to find a Rock Band 2 for the 360 but no dice.

I know how you feel. I have the GH:WT bundle, so I was looking for a 360 RB2 game only, Took me a couple of weeks and I located one this weekend for 40% and grabbed it.
It was at the Elston CC.

Saw a bunch of Wiis at both Targets I went to today. Looks like they all might've gotten shipments if anyone was in need.

There wont be an issue with the PSN cards not working if I buy them at CC right? They should work normally?
Also, my uncle bought a labtop and bought the CC extended warranty, now that CC is going out of business what can he do? Is he sol?

Can you use more than one best buy gift certificate at once? I've accumulated a bunch through their rewards zone program. I have two ten dollar ones and a fiver. I wanted to go pick up SFIV and LocoRoco 2 but wanted to know if I could use them all at once.

One word: Nonexistent. The only thing they had was Guitar Hero bundles and one PS2 title and that was it.

I'm guessing he bought the laptop before the liquidation started? Basically at this point, the only warranty he has is the manufacturer's warranty.
Has anyone been out to the CC by North Riverside Mall recently? Thinking about going out there tomorrow morning. also could anyone recommend any CC that have a decent bunch of games, preferably DS, 360, and PS2?

You should be able to. I used several, plus gift cards for my iPod that I bought a while back.
I imagine that this weekend will be the last good one for CC stores around here.

I was there last sunday and still had a decent selection of games for every system but the best games were in the back in a glass case. I'm going tomorrow after work so I'll chime in then!!!

I went earlier this week, Wednesday, and yeah... sparse. All games were in one aisle. Lots of PSPs. Lots of guides left, so I'm thinking of grabbing a couple. Maybe find the odd game for PS2, or finally pick up that copy of Shadow of the Colossus I wanted.
BTW:
Is there any CC still with a nice stock of games? Preferably 360, DS, and PS2. Also accessories and maybe point cards?

What about the PS3 version? Was there lots of those too at Berwyn? Either the lunchbox, or the regular edition.

I saw 2 or 3 Lunchboxes. I didn't look through the games so I can't tell you if there were any regulars.
I'm getting ready to do a run right now... anyone knows which CC to hit?

If anyone is looking to sell a PSP for a fair price PM me. I'll pay cash. It is fine if it has been hacked, in fact I would prefer one that is hackable. I'm going to make a desktop internet radio out of it.

Pretty much. I ended up picking up Barnyard Blast which will probably get gifted. Just waiting for the external hard drives to drop, and the strategy guides to drop down. and maybe pick up a DVD here and there.
Anyone knows of a CC worth going to?
Was at the Highland Park Half Price Books earlier tonite. Much less of a vg selection than the Niles location, but I picked up FEAR for 4 bucks.

Pizza lovers, do yourself a favor and order from these guys. Hands down, best pizza I have ever eaten. If you live in Chicago you MUST order from here. They recently moved to a new location and they say business is down, which is a shame. Try them out!! If you like them, spread the word. 8-)

Do they buy/sell game guides? I heard someone talking about that place in the guide thread.
