You were wrong that it must be the first game scanned. As implied by your "without me you'da got nuthin'!" statements.

The only vague thing about my report was whether or not there were any copies of Rock Revolution left and I answered that after the first response. Hence my initial question to you about your inability to read a thread.

Normally I get paid for arguing with and correcting stubborn and ignorant people, but this is tedious without the monetary reward. But I admit it is funny to see you get so angry and use insipid ad hominems to defend what little intellect you possess.

Blah, blah, blah, arguing on the internet, retards, etc. Hope you lurkers are getting your bandwidth's worth of entertainment!

I was wrong about nothing. I got the game free, this "glitch" was nowhere near consistent, and every bit of information helped. Maybe corporate tried to fix it and instead just switched it around. Who knows why it worked both ways. In the main thread, it happened that way a few times, but mostly never.

You didn't mention why not to go to Elston and 3 other cags (myself incuded) assumed that you had used them all up. Since I was just at the store, I knew that store had about 20+ copies total of the games. Which is why I was shocked. You didn't explain yourself about the employees being "hip" to the glitch. You started acting like a little bitch, and wouldn't let it go when I had. You started the petty name calling and it just went down from there.

Look, i'm not trying to be an ass. At this point, theres really nothing more to dicuss between us. Things could have been better if both of us had not jumped the gun. Seriously, i'm willing to drop this and get back to the deals. Thats why we're all here.

Last post deleted for attempted-civility's sake.

You want to drop this, fine. I was provoked by your accusations of hoarding. The first respondent to my report did not accuse me of such (if you reeeeeeead it carefully); you did.

Look, if you right here state that you saw 20+ copies, why would you assume I cleared out the store, when I mentioned that I went to multiple stores and that I had 12 total copies of Rock Revolution? Furthermore, I responded almost immediately to the question of how many I'd seen left.

OK, my Halloween sugar rush has expired, my head is starting to pound and this is quite honestly a ridiculous argument.

What I'd like to leave you with is that it's impolite to start accusing people of hoarding without having taken the time to read everything and/or ask questions. I reported for the benefit of my fellow Chicago CAGs, so did you, but I didn't start slinging accusations of SD/FW-ery.

For some potentially useful CAG-info: the Half Price Books in Palatine has copies of Vagrant Story, black label FF Tactics, Legend of Legaia, and Parasite Eve 1 and 2, but they're as usual priced high at $50 a pop.

G'nite folks.

Fair enough on the hoarding. Like I said, we both "jumped to conclusions".

Ok, brand new deal to speak about.

To anyone who is a BB Premier Member, sign in right now. There will be a special screening at Yorktown for "New Moon". You can get 2 free tickets if there are any still available. My niece is all about this "twilight" garbage and i'll be uncle of the fucking year for getting tickets to an early screening.

Do this ASAP. If just got loaded up now.

I've been to People Play Games. It's become a regular stop when I visit my sister in Chicago. Great selection, knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices. Just about everything I bought in there I could have found slightly cheaper on eBay, but I was fine paying a little more because I could see the product and know for sure it was in good shape.

Has tons of loose manuals if you're looking to complete older games. Also stocks some import hardware and software. I bought a Japanese Saturn in there a month or two ago. I've also picked up things like Panzer Dragoon RPG (Japanese version), Ys III for Turbo CD, Lunar: The Silver Star for Sega CD and more.

If you're buying a disc, make sure to give them time to buff it up for you. Their machine does a REALLY nice job. All of the discs I've brought home from there have been spotless and play perfectly. I'm super picky about disc quality too... these look like they're brand new.

Great store. There's also a nice comic shop a few doors up the street.

A-hole dog owners man. What are the laws on picking up after your dog in Chicago? I had just cleaned my car's carpet and today just a couple of hours ago I got in not realizing that I had step on dog crap. :bomb::bomb::bomb:

Smelled up the whole car and its too dark to be cleaning it up. Is there anything I can spray on the lawn that would fuck up the dogs that sh!t on it? Unless a cop actually sees a dog in the act of dumping on a sidewalk, I highly doubt this law is ever enforced. Kinda like littering.

Mine was getting up at 1:45 AM, not being able to listen to the live CAGcast, room was full. Then realizing Amazon wasn't going to have any decent deals at 2:30 AM. Back to bed until now. I see I haven't missed much. I did score some decent pre BF deals.

Amazon (only going to list gaming items)
360 Arcade Unit $200 with $100 Amazon Gift Card
$10 Klonoa for Wii
$10 SC IV for PS3
$90 for PS3 SF IV TE arcade stick

Steam
Osmos $2

My gf and I were driving passed Home Depot and we joked that we should go see if Home Depot had some doorbuster-cheap wood 2x4's for Black Friday. Did they have some deals? I never checked. Dang. I remember a few months ago cross-checking the Store Locater on both the HWV and GC websites to find a HWV that didn't have a GC attached, and I thought C&D was the only one on the north side. Ah well.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

I know this is way early but wizardworld.com has a decent deal for this years comic-con.
http://www.wizardworld.com/chicago.html

You can get a 4 day pass if you buy a 2 year sub for $56 or get a 1 anyday pass for a 1 year subscription.

I know wizard magazine is as thin as the Chicago Red Eye these days but with this its like getting a free subscription for the price of the tickets.

It should be noted the major labels DC, Marvel, Darkhorse will not be at wizard world again this year. But it is a good deal if you just want to go.

C2E2 is the future:

You save $5 if you buy your tix before 12/31

They have all the majors as well as Mattel. They are also working on Hasbro, but I don't think they will be added.

It was actually a falling out between the majors and wizard. There were also a lot of problems with the guests not getting their airfare paid for, hotels, etc. Wizard is restructuring since they had so many complaints not only at the conventions, but for their online store. I used to buy at a discount from them, but they always messed up my orders, double charged me, etc.

BTW I have a lot of wizard 1/2s, toyfare exclusives and other wizard related stuff if you guys would like to trade for them. ;)

Just so you guys know this is the first c2e2, it will be at McCormick Place, and it was created by the same people that do the New York Comiccon :bouncy:

I have Buzz for PS3 with the 4 buzzers and want to get 4 additional buzz controllers. I assume I will have to get a set with another game. The other option is getting a ps2 game with the 4 wired buzzers. Of course this is all contingent on the price. I got my Buzz Quiz TV set thanks to someone posting a Sears deal on this thread for $25. So my price point on the buzzers is $15 and under. Anyone see what I'm looking for? Or have any advice?

I walked in there and almost everything was 70% off--picked up half minute hero box set for like 10 bucks, silent hill homecoming for 360 for 4 bucks and change--they had a lot of other games but didn't go too crazy. they also had those snoop dogg skullcandy headphones for 70% off. they had quite a few pairs. great deals to be had. while i was in the store a lot of people came to the door and saw the store closing sign and just walked away. they are still open, so if you're in the area, definitely check it out.

During the Superbowl, one of those Miller High Life commercials (with that fat black dude that goes around to various places and replaces the beer there) will feature some Chicago guy named Tim who owns a baseball card shop in the city, which he plugs in the commercial. Apparently the guy got noticed by scouts for the commercial or something. I saw it on the news last night. The guy will be getting national exposure for his baseball card shop. That's pretty crazy.

About the parents thing, I don't know I'm kind of torn by that because society says don't show kids that young those kinds of images but on the other hand my parents always used to take us (kids) to R rated movies and what not and we turned out fine.

I didn't feel the one from a few years ago. But, the one from this morning was AWESOME! I never thought I'd actually feel an earthquake. I thought it was something in my house that blew up: water heater, furnace, car, etc. Maybe it was a plow that hit something in the street. But, I didn't think it was an actual earthquake. I ran around the house checking on everything, but nothing was out of place or exploded.

I forgot to mention that I live in South Elgin, almost due east of Virgil.

Heads up for those in the Fox Valley area, the Sony outlet store at the Chicago Premium Outlet center has all PS2 games for $7.99. I picked up a copy of Yakuza there. I didn't look that closely at the other titles, but they seemed to have a decent selection of brand new stuff.

Damn. I was gonna post this. The selection is okay, they have 20+ copies of Rogue Galaxy.

FYI - I was in the Thrift Store (Salvation Army) in MONTGOMERY, IL (on Douglas Rd.) and they had a couple of COD: Modern Warfare 2 games for the Xbox 360 for $30. They were in a glass case so not sure if the discs were in good condition though.

This isn't much of a video game deal but last year I found on CAG if you signed up and test drive a Ford they would give you a $50 gift card, good to use anywhere.

Ford is doing it again but requires you to go to the Auto show. I know there is only a few days left...but for those attending this weekend, head over to the Ford area. Someone there will have a tablet to take your information.

You will recieve a email confirming your address...then in a week or so you will get an email to print out to test drive a ford & recieve a 50$ gc. One per household so bring a friend.

Stopped by People Play Games earlier. Wow, nostalgia city. Tons of old stuff (much more than current gen), and they buy too. I bought some ps2 guides (not the cheapest but excellent condition) and a PC game. The staff seemed quite knowledgeable but their filing system leaves a lot to be desired; it took about 5 minutes for them to find the CDs for my game. I mentioned CAG to them, for some reason.

edit: also, as I was waiting, I saw a framed newspaper article (Trib, I think) about PPG, and a sidebar listed other Chicagoland retro gaming stores, and the place on Harlem we know as VG Etc was listed as Video Games Then And Now, and it's named that on Yelp, too, for some reason.

Play N Trade is terrible, by the way. They're trying to undercut Gamestop by being worse to their video game stock.

They allow new games to be played whenever a walk-in wishes to play that game; however, they'll still sell that same game as NEW, even after being used, in a system, for however long that disc stays in the system.

Coincidentally, I also stopped at a Play 'N Trade (Elmhurst) over the weekend, and wasn't terribly impressed, but I wasn't aware they have such abhorrent practices. I also stopped at a couple of places (Cyb Knight, Supercheap DVDs) near Schaumburg but didn't find anything worth picking up.

Video games then and now is terrible. They treat you like crap and don't even say hi when you walk in. They pretty much ignore you and everything is overpriced. My girlfriend bought Ico for me without knowing how much to pay for it, and ended up paying 39.99+ tax for a copy when other stores had it for 27.99 or less.

I actually love play n trade. they always treat me right (hense the sig. The three play n trades i normally visit are Aurora, Batavia, and Naperville)

I also came to post that play n trade is having a SSFIV tourney soon, in all of the chicagoland and surrounding suburbs. You can win 1000 dollars store credit.

Damn, that's sad to hear that that Video Games Then and Now is bad. You'd think offhand that an independent video game store would be better than any other chain store.

Yeah, the Play N Trade had really nice employees that helped a lot, but I just don't like how they treat their stock. There were piles and piles of discs sitting around, laser side down!, for pete's sake! The one I went to was on 95th and Western across the street from Wal-Mart.

Yeah that is shady practice and I know I've seen that as well at some play n trades. Unless you pick them up right away at launch, they seem to be opened. Ive also seen a "new" ps3 that was taken out of the box and was sitting behind glass. Thats not new anymore after you take it out of the box.

I mostly go there for my retro needs. New games is always amazon..and once in a (GREAT) while gamestop.

Having been to many Targets across the area, there honestly haven't been any that have been good for clearance stuff. Stores around here are very slow to mark stuff down, probably because people are paying prices at the first markdown ($41.98 for $59.99 games, etc). I've had a little bit of luck with PC games, but nothing for consoles in well over 18 months.

So I have two questions:1 - The Gamestop clerk said that you can only use the transfer kit once, which I find highly unlikely.2 - If you can use it more than once, is there anyone in here that has an extra kit they'd be willing to sell? Thanks!

Yeah, I got one with my 120. While you're only supposed to transfer data from your old hard drive once, you can reuse the kit to transfer data from other hard drives multiple times. I suppose I'd be willing to sell the one I have, as no one has requested its use among 360-owning friends of mine. PM me if you're interested; I live on the North Side.

Even then, that's pretty impressive that a WM would have PS1 stuff lying around.

Not when it's still $49.96.

^Still flippable!

I stopped by the Sony Style store yesterday and for me the selection didn't justify the discount. Good luck to anyone else who checks it out.

The Play N Trade at Six Corners is officially the worst video game store I've ever been to... they actually sold moi a burnt copy of a game [which I did return after about 30 mins of drive-time to calm down from my shock-fueled rage]. Who knows, maybe I am the one fluke, but once is already a billion times too many to sell a burnt copy of a game.

I hope they go out of business very soon. Also, the reaction of the person who sold moi the copy when I returned it was either a bit of acting, or ignorance that shows the person should not have been working there in the first place. I am still in disbelief that it actually happened...

That's pretty horrendous. I'd have been a lot angrier and have taken it further by asking to talk with the manager to inquire about why the hell that would ever happen in the first place. Sorry to hear about that. Was it a used game or something?

That's bullshit. For what system was the game for? I would call MS,Sony, or Nintendo and tell them what happened if its for a newer system.

It was Power Stone 2 for the DC [used]. I'm still in shock that it happened and want to do horrible things, but that is my Sicilian rage and I need to keep it down a tad.

On a happier note, I finally checked out the Half Price Books store in Countryside and was pleasantly surprised by their video game section. A pretty decent selection and the first HPBS I have seen with guides on clearance in a long time.

Today In Indiana at a Disc Replay, I saw 2 Lunar:SS with New Walmart stickers on them. You may have a slim chance.

Hey Chicago-ites, I'm planning a trip to Chicago for mid-July. Any suggestions on where to eat and what to do?

I am going because the Phillies are in town that weekend and I've always wanted to go to Wrigley. I'm also dying to try some of the highly-touted deep dish pizza.

What else should I do when I'm there? What are the can't miss food spots, attractions and bars?
