I just got the email from EB Games.
...
Hope to see some local CAGs there!
It would definitely be cool to go to that show. One question about the e-mail from EB, though: did it offer you a discount on the $5 exhibit admission fee (besides any general admission fee for the museum)? Just wondering what was being offered. Thanks.

Hmm.. Good question. I assume that because this is an invite and I had to RSVP, that the cost is free. You never know, they may end up charging me extra, lol. To answer your question, there is no $5 off offer or discount towards the event. It does mention that free event parking is available in the Museum's indoor garage. I know the museum admission doesn't usually include free parking.

Pah, I say just take the Metra Electric to University of Chicago on the weekend (5.00 all-you-can-ride), and walk over the 3 minutes from the station. Hop, skip, jump.

I got an RSVP myself and might attend, not sure yet.

Did anyone go to the Dear Friends Concert last Saturday?

I went with a friend of mine and we had a great time. The Music sounded great and the orchestra really put on an amazing show.
The event was sold out a lot of people from out of state came to the show.

It was a one of a kind event for any Final Fantasy Fan.

Best concert I've ever been to. I got myself a poster and downloaded the album they released of a concert in Japan in 2002. I've been listening to it nonstop. A few songs are different.

Did anyone go to the Dear Friends Concert last Saturday?
Even after reading the LA concert synopsis, I still had a great time when Uematsu swung into town last month. I wrote a few paragraphs about the experience on my blog here (http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=dpac&nextdate=2%2f22%2f2005), and you can read more about the LA event last year in a prior entry linked there. (I didn't attend the LA concert; I just pointed to the report on Square-Enix's site.)

At any rate, the game exhibit at the museum sounds like fun. I read online that the place has Mondays and Tuesdays general-admission free until March 15, so if you wanna save a few bucks on the day (the exhibit and/or parking will cost you the rest), go visit in the next two weeks. That's my plan, but I'm wondering how to convince other people to attend on a weekday. If anyone wants to meet up on a particular date and time (somewhere between 10 AM and 2 or 2:30 PM), let me know.

Judging by this list (http://www.msichicago.org/gameon/games/index_platform.html), this looks like a serious dissapointment. I want old games I can't see anywhere else, not Burnout 3. Good greif. It's like a big ad for EBGames.

Someone convince me otherwise. Seriously. I'll go if you tell me it's worth it.

Funnily enough I haven't the faintest idea what EBgames have done for Game On, I assume that gave the museum a bag of money as they had no input to the show what so ever. In fact two of the games consoles bought for the 'Chicago' section of the show were bought from another shop and not EB...

There are old games there, maybe if you look through the list again you might see things like Space Wars, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Pong, Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy, Pitfall, Star Wars, etc, etc. Someone asked me why do we have freeway running on the Atari 2600 in section 2 and I always reply that more people play freeway then any other Atari 2600 game I tried. As a question what sort of games would you like to see then? Still need to edit that list as it is missing a couple of games and I need to tidy it up.

However as the show is aimed at a general audience rather then then 30 year olds that complain that the show doesn't have enough old games (and why don't we have an FM Towns Marty, although I love the people that say 'Why don't you have a Neo Geo?' and then me pointing to Garou - Mark of the Wolves), we have to strike a balance, as the saying goes you can't please all the people some of the time but you can please some of the people all of the time. The most played games in the exhibition are Dance Dance Revolution and Eyetoy so you go figure. Burnout 3 is there as it is a good example of a good European game.

Still if anyone has any comments about the show (good or bad) then I would love to hear them.

Thanks

I'll have to agree with GameOn (an exhibit organizer/insider?) on the selection of games on the list: old-school is right and good, but it can't dominate a show concerning the history, past and present (and future?), of videogames. Popular games (that you can find anywhere) are especially relevant due to sales and the exposure many gamers had to them, regardless of their current popularity. I actually checked the game list before GameOn's post, and I thought it seemed relatively fair, even if the Commodore 64 only seemed to have one game running on it. (With only one floppy drive, that might make sense with a single system on display.) I still have to make my way to the show, but I look forward to doing so, whether this coming week or later in the summer.

Is there a history of the travelling exhibit I can link to somewhere online? The funny thing is that I haven't tried some of the newer stuff like Burnout 3 or the EyeToy, so I'd actually benefit from going. Getting the Big Picture could be helpful for even the most experienced gamers as well. (<--A good enough reason to go?) I also believe the saying finishes with "You can't please all the people all of the time," regardless of what comes before that. Finally, where's Street Fighter II and Madden (any iteration)? Games don't get much more mainstream than that (or, at least, more mainstream than Madden).

GameOn
03-08-2005, 02:12 PM
Street Fighter 2 is there in the form of Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the Super Nintendo. Madden, well we had a choice between american football and hockey and Madden lost out (which was sad really as I wanted to show Madden on Genesis and the latest incarnation). Still the show will get updates during it's stay in Chicago so don't be surprised to see Madden in the show.

Not sure if anyone cares but the new Best Buy on Elston Ave is giving away an iPod Mini evey 10 minutes tomorrow (3/12) from 3pm-5pm. From what I understand, you have to be present to win the drawing so the odds don't seem too bad (how many people can a BB store hold anyway?)

Hey all, I just wanted to keep this thread alive for all the Chicagoans. I say we should start a master list or something with all the good game stores around. Maybe like when you add a store, copy and paste the previous list, then add yours at the end. I'll attempt to start with:

EBGames at Lincoln and Jersey/Kedzie (the manager there is real cool about everything)

Apossum

went to game on-- What a Waste! $26(parking+ticket+choco taco) to play a couple of games.
not a total waste, got to play SF1, Rez, and Garou. I also didn't know that there was a game developed in communist russia, but i read that in an article about the exhibit. other than that, I wasn't too happy with it. it was basically an arcade with some fun facts on the wall.

anybody else feel kinda jipped? I mean, i wish it was a little more educational.

Adding another place to the self started list. The place is called Video Game Etc. It has alot of the old school gaming stuff like Neo Geo games, Lynx, Turbo Grafix 16, it's really worth checking out if you're in that area.

EBGames at Lincoln and Jersey/Kedzie (the manager there is real cool about everything)

Video Game Etc. (it's near the HIP heading down Harlem from Montrose going towards Foster. It's next to a Lee Auto Parts place and should be on the right side of the street)

People were listing shops earlier in this thread, but i'll put mine out there again--

Reckless records on broadway near belmont
and another location by the Double Door (like milwaukee and north, I think) both carry used games and a shit load of used DVDs. I've found some great games for cheap and received good store credit for not so great games :)
Sometimes they know when they've got something rare and price accordingly.

What i'm really looking for are pawn shops...I must not be looking in the right places, can't find any.

sup fellow CAGers in the midwest. Somebody mentioned the Disk Replay store in Village Crossing Mall (corner of Touhy and Carpenter rd.) This place is pretty good as far as older games are concerned, as well as the Videogames ETC (right by the HIP). I usually get my games thru the franchises but have been going to Gamefly and Red Octane to buy a bunch o' cheap games.

Over the easter weekend BB was doing its buy 2 get 1 free on VGs. I was wondering if there is anything that is worth it to purchase and trade in at another retailer (ie. the BB Max Payne 2 trade in to Gamecrazy) because this is how i got almost all my current systems and I was itching to get a PSP for cheaper!

Anyway glad to see that there are CAGers in the chitown area.

found the FYE thread and doing the trade-ins now they are pretty fickle with the trading in of items. If you are going to trade-in anything you have to have only one of a game (that is right because the wont touch a game if you have 2 or more) and you have to have the manual and the disc has to be in really good condition (ie. BB, GC, GS, etc.). Traded in a handful of games and now 1/3 of the way towards a PSP ^_^

It would be like ifilm.com where anyone who sends a creative (any genre: except nudity/porn and passes the scanning process) would be shown in the show. I already have two short films and three animated shorts in the process (finishing off the editing) that I'm including into the show. I'm looking for people's films and animations to put into the show. Would anyone have a film/animation that they would like to submit and if so please pm. That's awesome! How'd you guys get to talking about CAG though? And speaking of FYEs, do they give good trade in value for cds? I got a few cds I want to get rid of, but it would suck if I only get like 3 dollars of store credit.

Also to ryosnk: I know of two great student-made movies that you might be interested in. It's called "Monkeys" and the sequel to it "Monkeys 2." They were made by some classmates of mine when we attended highschool. Check out the website for it here : http://www.fireassault.com/ If you think it's cool enough, email John McGuigan asking for permission to use it. Also if he asks who sent you, tell him Wasan did. I've met both Nick's a time or two myself, but that's another story. As for parking, you could also try the metered spots along the first angled street west of the train tracks (which are a block or two west of the Evanston EB). The Evanston store looks like it carries a lot of the larger collector's items (like the Ace Combat flight-stick set -- or just a box of it -- and such). I also like the larger space, but I've only been there once, so it's hard to vouch for the general availability of rare games and so forth.

I haven't seen any pawn shops around here (northside) at all. Can you name a couple for me? Thanks! Anyways, I wanna throw out another indie store out here. It's called GameOne on Clark and Wilson. The prices are average and they don't sell used games. But they do have other stuff like wallscrolls, Gundam models, and gashapon figures. May be worth a check out if you're in the area.

There's a pawnshop or two in des plaines, haven't been to them. and there's one in wilmette on greenbay rd. haven't been there either.

I haven't scoped anything evanston, but i don't drive around search around there much.

Which eb, gamestop, BB, CC, etc has the best service, game selection, and overall cool people to talk too in Chicago?

For example, the gametop in brickyard are cool (they have hooked me up with demos and items) and the EB across from it totally sucks (their somewhat rude and they don't ask if you need any help, they just sit and play games even when theirs a line forming).

Ratings:
Gamestop (brickyard): a four out of five
EB (brickyard): a one out of five
Best Buy in Hip mall: a two and half out of five.
Gamestop in Harwood Heights: a two and half out of five.

the people at EBX Old Orchard are all really cool, the people at gamestop in Golf mill are also cool though they may seem a little intimidating at first :D never had any problems with the EB evanston folks, the EB glenview folks are nice but I got a couple of DRE PS2s when trying to exchange for a working one. hmmm...let's see.....the folks at Gamestop in Niles are also cool. all those stores also have decent selection. though all of their PS1 sections are a mess to look through, but I think every store has a messy ps1 section.

guess i haven't encountered any assholes at EB or GS. except for this one guy at EB Old Orchard a couple years ago who would talk your ear off for like 10 minutes after telling him you didn't need any help looking for a game. he'd hover and give you a description of everything you picked up :-\

i want to hear the story! was i helpful or a douchbag?
Oh, certainly helpful enough. I met the other Nick when I went to finally trade in some games that deserved it. I asked for rocksolidaudio, and he knew that I was referring to you. The next time, I came in to actually use some of that credit for Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (for the Xbox), while only Evanston had Alien Hominid (for the PS2). On the next occasion, I met you (uh, this Nick) and picked up the strategy guide for Phantom Brave, when you told me that game was in stock over at the Lincolnwood Town Center EB. We got to talking about gaming jobs, too. (If you ever hear about something opening up at Midway, let me know!)

At any rate, my memory's pretty good, but I wouldn't be able to remember all of this without a wee bit of help from my receipts. It probably would've helped you remember me if I posted a bit more on this site, but I haven't heard of many great deals (on the games I want) lately. Maybe I'll go check out the MSI exhibit on games and the one called Body Works during an early week in June (when there'll be free museum admission again). As for your current source of income, I hope that the EB-GameStop merger works out well for customers and corporations (er, employees?) alike. Game on.

--Dan

Update: Oh, I also mentioned how interesting it was that I didn't get charged sales tax (twice) on items I purchased with my trade-in credit. Must be due to a personal-sales qualification or some such.

I was at the GameCrazy on Clark and Granville last Thursday and it seemed like they were taking down all the psx games and sticking them into a bag. Not sure what was happening though. Anyhoo I've only been looking around for psx games and it seems none of the GameCrazys I've been to has a good selection, however I didn't check out the 16 bit games.

Nothing like Suikoden or Valkyrie Profile, but I landed plenty of decent games that I'll never get around to playing. Went to the Niles and Palatine stores and got this stuff:

Nes-
Final Fantasy

Snes-
Dr. Mario/Tetris x 2

Dreamcast-
Skies of Arcadia, mint Complete

PS1-
Marvel vs. Capcom x 2
Xmen: Children of the Atom
Final Fantasy Tactics- Mint complete, not GH
Tobal No. 1
Time Crisis with the gun!
Darkstalkers 1
Strider 2 (which i'm exchanging because it's actually Strider 1, lol)

A ha! Well at least it went to a fellow CAG and the fact that it wasn't complete does ease the pain a little ;)

If anyone's willing to brave the trip, there's an independent (meaning not in a Hollywood video....its about the size of a Gamestop) Gamecrazy across from Golf Mill mall that I "accidently" ended up at yesterday. (Long story short, I was looking for the Elston/Lawrence location and drove WAY too far North, lol)

No rarities to speak of but they had the biggest selection of GB/GBC games of all the 4 stores I scoped out if anyone's out for GB games! I might actually go back to all the stores today and see if I missed anything major. Good luck everyone!

those that i just mentioned were in the store as of friday around 12:30

one copy of VS was disc only, the other only had instructionsI got to that GameCrazy in Niles in the early evening. I would've left sooner, but I had some things to take care of first. (I know, I know... where are my priorities?) Because of the delay, I called the store up to see if the trip would still be worth it, and it turns out they originally had 3 or 4(!) copies of the game, one which just sold and another which may have been transferred to another location. At any rate, I get the last copy with instructions put on hold, and I get down there as soon as possible.

So what happened? I looked around for some PS1 gems, but the only copy of Marvel vs. Capcom was "defective," and the other Squaresoft games that interested me (FF Anthology and Xenogears) are disc-only and scratched/buffed pretty darn well. But Vagrant Story is in my hands (without an original case and insert, but with instructions and the accompanying Square demo disc), and I end up picking up Smash Brothers and Paper Mario (cheap reasons to pick up an N64 someday) to make the deal work. (I had to buy in sets of 3.)

Thanks for the heads-up, Apossum. I'm glad I stopped by. For anyone else that goes, there was another disc-only version of Vagrant Story left (you might want to call about it before you go), and they printed up the inventory lists for all the classic systems so you don't have to look through the stacks first. (Mighty handy when up-to-date.) Good luck, all.

Hey flybrione, I wouldn't mine a gaming party like the one Rocksolid had, maybe we should try to convince him for one :). As far as places to meet are concerned, the Diversions arcade is still in operation as far as I know (I'd been there only a few times over the last few years). If you really want to get out the city, though, there's always the (originally Capcom) Nickel City out in the 'burbs (out by Dundee Road, if I recall correctly). Your best bet is to call, regardless of location. Helpful employees may possibly be able to check the system to see which stores got the game in stock, but my memory may be muddled by calling too many Best Buys and Circuit Citys in the past. Anything happen with that Baker's-Square thing?

Ok, here is the meeting info:

Wasup fellos. I got a ps2 i wanna sell. Everything works great.
Comes with 1 sony control, 1 mad catz control, 1 hip screen control, 1 memory card, and network adaptor.

I also got a used Disgaea and NBA live 05.

I told my friend to ebay it for me but lots of crap happened and ended up not selling it.

I want to say the GC in Niles (after looking through the lists of available games there), but I can't say for certain. Your best bet is to call, regardless of location. Helpful employees may possibly be able to check the system to see which stores got the game in stock, but my memory may be muddled by calling too many Best Buys and Circuit Citys in the past. Good luck.

Thanks. I suppose it does make more sense to call. I'm always afraid that I'll get a lazy employee who will put the phone down and answer without even checking. Plus, there is always the thrill of the unknown search. Still, the remaining stores I haven't checked continue to be further and further away, so I guess it pays in gas to call ahead at this point.

i'll be there. ugh, soooooooo far though. i can't imagine that's easy to get to for most of the people going; still, i suppose we need a place, and it's easier to plan once we have one. so yeah, i'll be there. maybe we should PM everyone who's posted in this thread before and tell them about it?

Which Meijer store is the closet to the West side of Chicago? When I looked up locations online, the closest one to the north side was the one in Rolling Meadows. (I didn't end up going, but I told a friend about the Samurai Warriors sale.) If you want to check out some of the other locations in Algonquin, Aurora, Elgin, Bolingbrook, and so on, check out the Illinois portion of Meijer's store locator. Maybe you know the area better than I do, and figure out a closer location to the West Side:

Oh, and it looks like I have to pick up some friends from the airport on the evening of the 10th (of June), so dinner at Baker's Square might be out for me. Depending on how the evening goes, I might be able to stop by for dessert, but I wouldn't count on it. Hope you guys have fun, though.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I found a copy of Tales of Symphonia for $9 on Saturday. I already own the game, so I left it for someone else. It is in Downer's Grove, right near the Fry's, in Finley Plaza. Finley Plaza has a TRU, a Best Buy, and a litle Further down, a store labled "Cds Music & Games" or something of that nature. The real name of the store is Disc Replay, and near the back of the store is a copy of Tales if anybody is interested. It's worth a shot, and even if it is gone by now, they have a good collection of ps2, gc, xbox, snes, genesis etc games.

At 7:30.Hey, all. If I possibly get a chance to make it, either to the beginning or somewhere near the end of this meeting/meal, how will I be able to find whoever's attending? Any names for parties that this group will be under, or other personal identifiers I can use to find you all? Maybe someone can come with a PSP (or two) strapped to their wrist(s)? I just realized that I don't know most of your names or what you look like, so something like that could be pretty helpful (and maybe not just for me). PM me back if you'd rather not post these kinds of things. Thanks.

Glad the meet went well for everyone.. hopefully work won't get in the way for me next time.

On another Chicago note... the CompUSA in Skokie (Next to the Crown Village 18) has B1G1 on what looks like all video games but it might be YMMV. On each aisle were signs stating it but not specifically for a system... just a general Buy 1 get 1 sign. I only used it for some GBA titles and had no problems but didn't ask if it was everything.

I'll check again tomorrow to see what's what and post more info.

*Edit*

The B1G1 deal is just for all Gamecube and GBA titles along with the 'Manager's Special' clearance rack which includes all systems.

Not sure if anyone is interested but I've got a ton of old gaming mag's from last 4 years that I'm tossing soon - finally overcoming my packrat instincts.

Offhand there's 1-24 of Official Xbox Magazine, along with a ton of EGM, Gamepro, Game Informer, GMR, XBN, Nintendo Power and others- all dating from roughly launch of Xbox to present. I'd guess well over 100 total. If any Chicago area CAG want's them for free, let me know by this weekend when I'll finish up spring cleaning.

The Disc Replay that is right next to Best Buy in Village Crossing usually has a decent selection of used games. They give cash for trade ins and that is why so many people sell back over there. There is also another Disc Replay in Harwood Heights, right next to the Gamestop on Harlem and Lawrence. Lots of good deals if you get lucky.

Theres a disc replay by me in orland, thats a great store all there prices are mixed up my brother got ghost recon2 for 17.99 instead of the other ones that said 34.99.

I neglected to mention this before, but I received a couple Bakers Square coupons in the mail a week ago or so. One is for $4 off the purchase of 2 entrees and 2 beverages (and states a limit of two coupons per guest check, whatever that means), and the other is for $1 off any whole pie. (Other limitations include restrictions on Senior Discounts, the children's menu, and other promotional discounts, of course.) Now I could use the first one for just $2 off each single entree and beverage for myself (that's what the coupon says), but I figure that this could be a nice discount for another possible CAG get-together. Anyone else get these coupons in the mail? They both expire on July 15. Just a thought.

If anyone is interested. I went to Wolfs flea market in melrose park and they had a few people selling videogames. Some of the prices were outrages but a few very good deals to be found. Their is a guy I would say around the second isle selling speakers and videogames and he had a bunch of games for $2 to $10 on psone through gamecube games. Some of the $2 games were just the disk only. I was able to get motogp(ps2), demolition racer (dc), and silver (dc) for $6. He had a good selcetion of more games and their also a guy selling a ton of old game systems and games for decent prices.

There is a minimal entrance fee, something along the lines of a buck or two. However, you can usually find coupons in the Trib or Herald that grant free admission. I've only been to it twice and there wasn't much of anything. Those that had games seemed to be professional sellers, selling copies that were still wrapped at basically normal prices. Then again, its been a year or so since I've been there, so things may have changed.

Someone point me in the right direction! Specifics please, general area won't help much. And don't bother sending me to the Golf Mill mall. That arcade should be put out of it's misery.

I've also been to the Nickel City on Waukegan Rd. near the 90 overpass.

Maybe we could get a list going...

I seem to remember one downtown in a little mall, I think it was a Namco joint.
Of course, that was eight years ago...

One that still survives (at least when I last checked) is Diversions, located on McCormick between Devon and Lincoln (across the street from the relatively new Home Depot, and south of the Lincoln Village 1-6 theaters). They may even still have certain token specials or a deal for a few free tokens with a Lincoln Village (Loews) ticket stub. I actually still have some unused tokens in my possession. Perhaps I'll have to go check it out again sometime. Let me know if you need moral support.

I can't remember it being around 8 years ago, but there was a Namco arcade in Randhurst for a few years. Gone now, but it was pretty good for what it was.

Theirs a namco arcade in the Harlem and Irving Mall (HIP), they have a decent array of fighters and racing games; also they have tournaments, Diversions is good (I havent been their in a few years), and theirs Gameworks in Schaumburg. :)

Diversions was always pretty run-down with a lot of busted games and a general pungent aroma. I've only been there a couple times and the last trip was over a year ago but driving by recently I noticed that it's been downsized from 2 connecting storefronts to just one. Not sure if this is new management or what but perhaps it's worth another look.

You can also try Dave & Busters - There's at least one in the 'burbs and another in the city located on Clark St just south of Division (say 10-11 hundred N Clark.)

The only other arcades I can think of are Dennis' Place for Games - It's been years since I've been but I recall one at Belmont and Sheffield (right under the L tracks) , one way up on N Clark (between Pratt and Devon - say 6600 N Clark) and I think another on Western across from the huge Waveland Bowling Alley (3700 N Western.)

I'll have to see what you're talking about sometime. As for the one across from Waveland on Western, you may be referring to Fun Zone (Games?). Unfortunately, Fun Zone recently shut down and was converted into an auto dealership, like so many other storefronts on Western Avenue. I probably miss that place the most, as I actually went there pretty often during my high school days. (Sniff.) I stopped by the Golf Mill location once in the past year (which was actually my first time there), but some of the more appealing games weren't working too well. Uh, YMMV?

GameWorks (in Woodfield Mall?) is sort of similar to Dave & Buster's, with a bar-like area where you can get some food and drink if you're hungry (though you need to be 21 or over to get in). I always found the games at these places to be very expensive, but my friends and I were captivated by a combo machine at the downtown D&B's that let you choose Street Fighter II: Championship Edition or Hyper Fighting, among other older titles. Better than ESPN Zone (or maybe Disney Quest? Don't know, haven't been to D. Quest), but a "pure," dedicated arcade is definitely preferable in my own mind. Hopefully, Nolan Bushnell's uWink Media Bistro (http://www.wired.com/news/games/0,2101,67724,00.html) will provide a more entertaining experience for gamers.

Gameworks is actually like 5-10 minutes away from Woodfield Mall, very close, but not in it. You have the option of getting timed cards or credit cards (cards with credits, not the usual). You can also abuse the timed cards since you can you it every minute or something. I like to play DDR or ITG and rack up credits by swiping it after each song.

I usually go when they have the specials like a three hour pass for $20 or something like that. I usually play the linked karts with my family and friends, its fun. Its cool because I get to play alot of Sega arcade machines.

Well, if we want to be really technical, it is part of Woodfield in the sense that it is in the Streets of Woodfield. Not the exact mall, but simply across the street from it. And with my nit pickery complete, I'm happy.

You're right about the name... I just remember an arcade being there on Western. Too bad it closed but Western Ave really needed another sleazy used car dealer.

Google shows 2 Dennis' place for games... 955 W Belmost and 6701 N Clark.

More like a two minuet walk across a street. (Thats why the plaza is called streets of woodfield. That and the design is of a city block.) It really is no more than a walk across a street or a 1 min car ride from the mall. Gameworks is a pretty neat place from what I remember. (I haven't been there since I was in the 7th or 8th grade)

Anyway, I'm a local to the schaumburg/hoffman estates area. :) Although most of the year I live in the city.

Wizard World a Comic convention, similair to the San Diego Comic-con.
It has many comic book vendors as well as action figure vendors.
Special guest of honor this year is Frank Miller.
Also some of the major distributors have exclusive figures and comics only avialble at the show.

It takes place this weekend 5-7th, addmission is $25 a day or $50 for all three days. It is at the Donald E. Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont (Rosemont Convention Center).

I will be attenting the show tomorrow.

PC original Splinter Cell $7.99

and the kicker, at least 30 copies of Deathtrap Dungeon by Eidos for the PC from way back in 1998 going for 3.99 apiece. I don't think they'd sell at .99 a copy...

Speaking of arcades, I hit the Harlem-Irving Plaza and got my classically-trained groove on with the Percussion Master machine. Scored a perfect 299 on the normal View to a Kill. Those seven years of college paid off!
Fabulous selection of fighters there. And a civic-noise-ordinance-violating In The Groove 2, complete with rabid fanboys capable of scoring an 800+ combo.
