I hit a few stores today after work: Music Recyclery and FYE in the HIP, Videogames Etc, and the Disc Recyclery and Gamestop a bit further N on Harlem. Nothing doing for me.
The HIP MR had some crazy-ass prices, though on several used PS1 games: Tales of Destiny, Lunar, and DDR Konamix (non GH) all going for at least $75. What. The. Fuck. I have a nonGH copy of Konamix I bought a while back, but the eBay value is nowhere near that.
Videogames Etc felt like a museum, and it had quite an odor.

Also, it seems like the past 7-8 stores I've been to are all out of pre-viewed Kill Bill vol 1s.

Say, I just called Wal-Mart up in Skokie to see if any Mario DS's were left, but I was quoted the $149.99 price. Anyone have any luck with a bundled set at $129.99? I'm aware of the accessory set with Spider-Man (2), but that just doesn't interest me. Yeah, I know I'm grasping at straws this late after the drop, but I figure that it couldn't hurt to ask. Yeah, I went to a local best buy to try to get some penny guides and they had mostly all the guides mentioned at the penny guide thread except for GOW. I asked one of the employees and he said that they have a few GOW guides that are to be returned. I asked why not this and he said he doesnt know and I tried to have him get me one but he didnt want to get in trouble.

So if anyone has an extra GOW guide, I would be interested.

Heh, does Nick still have that beard? Well if you are around the golf mill gamecrazy they have a decent selection of dc, snes, and genny games.

If you want write down a list of what your looking for and when I go to any of my local gc's I will see if they have what your looking for and the price for it.

the golf mill gc is in des plaines (or is that technically Niles?) I was in there today and there was a depressing number of DC games on the shelf.

Nah, it's the keyboard/turn-table game. (Which you can play in all it's ear-drum bursting glory at Nickel City in Deerfield.)

Speaking of arcades, I hit the Harlem-Irving Plaza and got my classically-trained groove on with the Percussion Master machine. Scored a perfect 299 on the normal View to a Kill. Those seven years of college paid off!
Fabulous selection of fighters there. And a civic-noise-ordinance-violating In The Groove 2, complete with rabid fanboys capable of scoring an 800+ combo.

Just up the street at Videogames, Etc. I scored a copy of Ninja Gaiden III for the Lynx, and my friend bagged a copy of Time Gal for the Sega CD, which pretty much guarantees I'll be going there every other week.

well, in skokie, inthe "Village Crossing" center in Niles, there's a store called Disc Replay. Probably already mentioned, but if not, thats a store that has pretty good deals on games most of the time, and keep the discs in good condition.

bah, chicago best buys suck. just hit two today to price-match tomorrow - the clark/diversey one had one copy of Ys, and literally nothing else, the elston one had a couple of zoo keepers, two copies of Ys, and i snagged the last paper mario. if anyone finds an otogi 2, harvest moon, mr. driller or bards tale i would love one. mostly otogi 2. thanks.

Have any of you guys seen BBA's for GC at suburban Chicago Targets? I want to pick up one of these to play some PSO before they take down the servers. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any at the Targets I checked (Glendale Heights and St. Charles). I'm guessing most have been snagged by now around the area, but if anyone has seen some - it would be great to know. Hopefully, the distance needed to travel doesn't negate any kind of deal I would get on the BBA.

Just got back from a Best Buy run. Picked up Otogi 2 and . .. that's it. They seemed pretty cleared out (although I did find the empty price holders for many other titles I wanted.) Went to the Bloomingdale and Addison locations.

rocksolid - there was one more copy of Otogi 2 at Bloomingdale but that was a couple hours ago so I doubt it's there now. Maybe other Chicago CAGs picked it up? Anyone? I know you're out there judging by the empty shelves as of 10:02 am . . . .

I used 2 McD coupons at 2 different stores with no real problem.

I had multiple instances of list discrepancies, mostly with the $4.99 titles ringing up higher. I left my checklsit in the car, but I remember the deer hunting title, crash 'n burn, rocky legends, and Scaler xbox ringing up higher.

I'm going to try to hit the Chicago-proper stores after work, but I don't have much hope.

Other than that, I'm trying to figure out whether to go to depaul, loyola or madison next semester.

I guess dfg posted about what he thought of the store nearest me (the Lincolnwood Town Center one) in the main KB thread, but any other local accounts would be appreciated. They are pretty hard to describe-- a Black Dice show consists of ambient noise with drum machines for an hour, Notwist is a rock band and Themselves are an Anticon hip hop group-- and they formed another band.
I actually ditched the show to go to the empty bottle, I didn't want to pay $18(+beer) to see those bands and deal with a full house. Usually they play smaller places for cheaper when they're in town.

So how many of you guys have 360's reserved? Anyone know of a place with few preorders? fat chance at this point I suppose ;-)

I have one reserved at my local gamestop, but I am on second shipment.
I am trying to slowly pay it off before it arrives. I currently have about $250 down and will be putting more down in two weeks.

Still undecided on what game I want. Two many actual good titles to choose from and at an average of $60 makes it hard to pick.

I doubt that you could get a reserve anywhere for 1st batch shipment.

The only reason reserved it because I got one of the new PS2's from the Mejier sale a few months ago for $100 and then traded in my old ps2 for $138.00 with accessories and games. So I really did not loose that much money and got a new PS2!

--DanSo yeah, it's a little late, but here's what I remember about what's left at the Western TRU on Wednesday (9/28/05):

- Lotsa Call of Duty for the PS2, but the $5-off Activision deal may be over, so YMMV.
- I took the last Sega Superstars, though... sorry!
- Same with the PS2 Midway Arcade Treasures 2 (yeah, I should've clarified that it was the second compilation). MAT1 for the Xbox came up regular price, so I left that at the register. I took that last MAT2 for the PS2, however (once a supervisor was called in to approve my purchase for a penny, of course).
- One PS2 Musashi in the case behind the counter, I believe.
- Metal Slug 4 & 5 in the case, but they probably aren't on the list like MS3 is.
- A number of Polariums for the DS, in the DS section closer to the back where a section of green-tagged games are being stored.
- At least four or five Feel the Magics, too.
- Back there, a bunch of Phantom Braves for PS2, if you were ever interested in strategy RPGs; the final price should be $15 each.
- Oh yeah, lots of Syphon Filter for the PS2 as well.

Unfortunately, my memory's started to get a little cloudy, but I'll update with more titles if they come to me. Happy hunting, y'all! (Oh, and if someone sees a cheap copy of Gradius V somewhere, please let me know; I forgot to look for it... again.)

I seem to recall a bunch of deals on Taiko and MAT2, and I used copies of FMA at GS and EB a lot.

As for the others, there were Fry's deals on all of them when they first came out, but you are right, Atlus RPGs don't get price drops. If you need new copies, Toys R Us is the best place i can think of.

I also tried to grab multiple tickets to Wrestlemania, but ended up only being able to grab one ticket for myself. I haven't been to a show since the night when Hogan and the nWo debuted on Raw, taking out the Rock, so it's certainly been some time. The Gamestop in Bloomingdale (Army Trail Rd) has had tons of PS1 RPGs lately. I would pick them up myself by I know I won't play them and have had terrible luck turning a profit on ebay.

Just yesterday, they had :
Persona ($20 - manual was there but in really bad shape - case was also worn - this one is more for people who actually just want to PLAY it.)
Persona 2 ($30 - 3 copies, all good to near mint condition)
Tales of Destiny 2 ($35 or $40 - can't remember and not sure why it isn't the online price of 27.99) - good condition
Rhapsody ($40) - good condition
Plus all the FF, Vagrant Story, etc.

I realize these aren't CHEAP, but if you have a Gamestop card they will be 10% off. And I know some people are like me and like to actually see the condition of the game as opposed to buying off of ebay. Plus if it doesn't work you can just bring it back.

Anyhoo - I hope somebody benefits from this - for you people downtown let me know if you want me to pick anything up because I'm in there pretty regularly. Then I can bring it to the next meet *ahem* which somebody should start planning. I would gladly host it but I'm 100% positive that with the exception of a few west suburbaners none of you are making the hike to St. Charles.

I know it's ridiculous, but me and my friends ended up payin $1,000 for 4 tickets in 213, D. Ticketmaster fucked us over, I'm sitting here on the computer constantly hitting refresh around 10 waiting for them to go on sale, and then they do and I click on the "Get tickets" link and it went to the page where they claimed it wasn't on sale yet. Then about 2 minutes later it decided to go to the order page and I selected the # of tickets I wanted and all of that and they were sold out. So we had the choice of ebay and paying up the ass or not going at all. So we obviously wanted to go so we bought them, but were just all happy as hell that were all going.

Posted this in the Target clearence thread....nothing earth shattering, but thought people might be interested.
Found some clearence games at the Lemont Target. They had Darkstalkers, NBA, NHL, Tiger Woods, and Ridge Racer (all PSP). Darkstalkers and NHL were $14.98 and the rest were $20 or above.

Also, not a clearence, but Total Overdose for PS2 was $19.99. Pretty quick drop on what is supposed to be a pretty decent game.

I saw the score at halftime and changed the channel, but I decided to check what the score was and notice the comeback at the end of the fourth quarter. It was a great game and hopefully the bulls could win games by doing the scoring and playing defense throughout the game. Games like this make me nervous :).

They had other games that were recently released priced at 50% also. I wonder if alot of best buy stores will be doing this soon to open up space for the 360 system and games.

Joliet had not had it in awhile and Downers Grove Butterfield said it was sold out. I actually called them Monday asking about it and couldn't get any answers at first. Then they said they had 3 as there were three empty cases out on the shelf. When I got there Tues evening, I again had some trouble. I took one of the three cases up to the register and the girl said she had never seen the game before. She checked in back and couldn't find it. I was persistent for her to look in the big glass case. Lo and behold there it was next to Dragon Quest VIII. I could see at least one other copy in the case.

I got it Tuesday night at the Fox Valley store. I was heading home to Joliet from Glen Ellyn, so it was convenient to go. Man, son of a bitch, I had the lady check the case, and she said there weren't any. Stupid fuck. Oh well, thanks. I didn't even know you could price adjust across the chain. cool.
