Yeah the novelty of it has worn off for me and my wife. We just packed it back onto its box and put it in the closet. The only game I have for it is wii sports becasue nothing else seemed worthy of getting.

Also the rosemont target has guitar hero cases at $12, a guitar hero pack that has a mounting stand and stickers for I think $17, a few faceplates on sale and a few other ps3, x360, and ds accessories on sale (not that much on the sale price but like 20% off).

The Art Institute of Chicago would be first on my list. The other museums are good as well. All the street festivals are going on, so you can pick and choose which ones to go to. Serch for "2007 festival guide" on this site http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/ Pretty much everything is listed on this site. If you are looking for concerts, I would use pollstar.com

Sadly, there are no great Anime stores here...I haven't opened mine yet! ;)

check out www.chireader.com for all kinds of events listings and lots of stuff you won't find if you go to the usual places.


Definitely hit up Millenium Park, which is right down the street from the Art Institute. The museum of contemporary art is also a few blocks down from there across the Chicago river. with a little map-questing you can get easy directions between all three places. also, the museum is one street over from Michigan Ave, which has all kinds of shopping...

Just a heads up guys. The gamecrazy in Naperville on 75th street is shutting down. Everything is 40% off right now, with discount to increase soon. I checked it out today, not much to get excited about, some decent PSP and DS games, lots of xbox stuff. But the manager said that he got in about 15-20 big boxes of transferred in items today so who knows what they might have in the coming days.

Yea, I was thinking about it, its a bit closer to me than the Butterfield Rd one but that isn't saying much, still about 45 mins drive from Park Ridge. I'm debating if its worth the trip for sure an unsure thing, seeing as I don't have a reserve there and they're being so damn vague about the giveaways and event itself. It helps that you guys are going but I don't think I can convince any of my casual gamer friends to come stand around in line for 4 hours. Keep me updated on the details Xbox Live buddy.

Costco in Chicago just got in the Halo 3 bundle. It has the Halo 3 Xbox 360 system, a McFarlane Halo 3 controller, and a copy of the limited edition version of Halo 3. This is a nice bundle for those who still don't have an Xbox 360 and LOVE Halo.

It's good to know at least a little crew of us will be holdin' it down for the CAG rep against all the FatWalleters and Slickdealers likely to be there. I don't imagine anyone not from a board will bother to show up, aside from the usual pre-order crowds.

Unfortunately I don't have the transfer cable for my digital camera, so pics will be delayed. They are all over the interwebs though.

They handed out chairs to the first 25 people, and started to trickle down the other swag to people towards the end, but they had hats and shirts leftover so I grabbed them too. They also had inflatable noisemakers; those sticks you blow up and bang together. I wish I got them, but ultimately useless item.

They were also handing out "plasma grenades" which I found out aren't even that. They looked like bath beads wrapped in saran wrap that light up. I didn't get one, but I'm certainly not jealous, because they're ultimately stupid being just some random item, and not an actual grenade.

I was about the fifth person in line, but a few kids came along who were friends with the guys in front of me, so I wound up around eighth in line. But as I didn't have a presell to bother with, I wound up being the first one to buy the game in the store. It was funny, the clerks applauded as I paid for that honking Legendary box.

Anyway, as I didn't see any CAGs (that I was aware of), I didn't take any pics. But it was a nice crowd. Even the teamsters in front of me were kinda quiet. But dang y'all smoke a lot around here.

Wound up with an inflatable Halo 3 chair with speakers, a hat, a thunder stick (dumbest name ever) and one of those light up sticky grenades. Acid is right, they're not actual grenades, they do look like gelatinous bath beads in a clear rubber skin. But they light glows different colors so it's pretty, if otherwise just generic vendor swag.

If they didn't want that, they had the choice of a hat or tshirt. Then as the went down the line, they asked folks if they wanted a hat or shirt, and gave them whatever they chose. They didn't ask anyone what they wanted, some of us just asked, "hey, can I have one of those?" and they'd toss us the stuff.


Somehow I managed to fit the legendary box in my bigger suitcase, along with the inflatable chair. I'm not about to try to unpack the stuff, but when I get home next week, I can take pics of the goodies, if you like.


I do regret not grabbing the camera from the car, because the kids I hung around with were fun and some of the kids behind me were terribly sweet. And as far as I could tell everyone was really nice to everyone around them.
One fella even grabbed a 24-pack of water from the trunk of the red GTO I'd been eyeing, and handed the water out to anyone who wanted. I definatly wanted the water (all that smoke killed my throat), so I ran up to him and asked for a bottle of water. Nice guy with a nice ride. And a gamer. I'm completely in love.

I was there and the first person in line I believe was from CAG as well. I recall you walking over to get the water but didn't realize that you were from CAG.

Indeed, the CC employees were in a state of disbelief ("I'm here until 1:00 A.M. for THIS?!")

We walked right in at 12:00 and they had plenty of every version and those free 4' wall stickers. By comparison, the Gamestop 50 ft. away had a line around the back of the building. Good thing those people let GS hold their money for months so they could wait in line. 8-)

If anyone wants to try out Rock Band this weekend - they have the demo/tour here in Chicago this weekend. Today it was at NIU, Tomorrow at Northwestern (at the football stadium) and Sunday at Ford City Mall. Each day, the hours are 11am-6pm with a live concert at the end of the day.

I called my local Gamestop to make sure I wasn't halucinating and asked them if they were out, and was told they plenty of each title.

The Milwaukee/Golf TRU didn't have a bunch of titles either, but the guys working there at least recognized most of the titles and said they either hadn't gotten them or in bioshocks case, had sold out.

So just some advice. Save gas money and call ahead to make sure your TRU has the games you're looking for.

I picked up Bioshock, Blue Dragon, and Medal of Honor: Airborne. Wanted Eternal Sonata, but no TRU in the Chicago area has it in. I took your advice and I called a lot of them. Thanks. Are the aformentioned Gamecrazy stores the only two in Chicagoland that are closing? I'd like to maybe pick up some PS2 RPG's. As I have none of the next gen systems (PS3 is too pricey and no good games, 360 sucks save for Eternal Sonata) so am not concerned about those. Though, it would have been nice to grab some Wii games. I have a friend who is head of security at D&H and apparently can get a Wii for me for like $150. Wouldn't be bad to stock up on games.

just got back from the ford city CC. its a no go there. they told me that it was only for blu ray and not the hd dvd.

But at the north riverside mall its a different story. I ask and one guy said the deal was over, but the floor mgr came and said it was good for the ones on the list BD or HDDVD. did not see any thing good so i left. might want to play dumb here and say that all 24.99 and 29.99 movies are on the list. deal expires the 20th. I will head back there maybe on the thursday.

Yeah, I hit up that sale too and couldn't find the Eternal Sonata anywhere. Schaumburg was out of most things, but they did have Bioshock at one point mid-week. Sadly the sales people are sometimes pretty clueless, but at least they were nice when I asked about swapping one of the games at another store during the week.

Your best bet are the Gamestop's. Army Trail is littered with them. Go inside Woodfield Mall, the Gamestop in there was my old store. There's still some good kids there.

Heh, I got the Call of Cthullu. I also picked up predator, leisure suit larry, and few dvds.

Its a fairly rare game I think, rather buggy though, just something I thought I'd give a shot to see if I could tolerate, it likely would have just ended up wasting away in my massive backlog another couple of years.

I don't know what ecw is? Wrestling I guess. Wasn't interested, it seemed like they kepy mostly just Horror stuff around. I bought up a good chunk of the foreign/obscure emo type movies- that's my cup of tea.

I got Full Spectrum Warrior Ten Hammers for $3, I liked the first, hopefully the Coop is just as good this time around. I put back Gun and Zelda because they were rather scratched up, I imagine half the stuff in the store is unplayable.

I, unfortunately, always work second shift. And rarely have weekends off. I always have Mondays off, and sometimes Tuesdays. Though if it's planned far enough in advance (2 weeks), I could request any other day off.

And, I'd prefer we meet up in a place that serves alcohol. A few drinks helps to loosen people up so we can chat and shoot the shit easier. But I don't have anything against pie, though. I luvs me some sweet cherry pie.

Also, more info for those who didn't preorder Rock Band and want to get a copy at Costco, some stores aren't getting it Tuesday (Niles). And most of the ones that are expecting it, are only getting in 9(!) A few lucky stores are getting 18 (Glenview is one of 2-3 stores that will be). I'll be at the Lincoln Park Costco around 9:30 am if anyone wants to say hi. I'll be the hispanic guy with a black jacket and Bears hat on.

I'm camping out with a friend at Golf Best Buy in hopes of securing one of those fresh GH2 bundles with a 360 pickup. Its the most potent deal I've yet to see. Shall I expect any other company?

I decided to scrounge for Black Friday deals in the late afternoon today and was surprised to discover a few items people left on shelves most of the day.

At Best Buy: one Rock Band Special Edition box (I believe for the 360) just standing in the aisle of the media section. Gun (also for the 360) was out in the 360 aisle, but a handful of $4.99 copies remained in the 360 stand behind the games section.

At Target: I didn't shop here for games, but there were a few Imation 50-packs of CD-Rs still around for $4.99 as well as many copies of Virtua Tennis 3 for the 360 at $19.99. (Not a super deal for VT3, but I really enjoyed the game -- especially for multiplayer -- so I felt the need to mention it; it's with the other clearance games at the back of the games aisles.) Also spied one PS3 Rock Band set and four 360 Rock Band sets. Who knew there'd be so many on store shelves (I guess for Black Friday)?

Target 2-day prices should be good tomorrow, but I'm not so sure on the Best Buy ones. Hope everyone found what they were lookin' for.

I'm not sure if this is all Targets, but this is a pretty amazing deal if you even give a damn about this game!

Not too big of an initial print - but if the current trends w/ jrpg's hold - they'll be an eventual reprint so don't go buying it for over MSRP =)

The first Best Buy I went to didn't have the card. (Sorry.) And didn't have Persona 3. A nice guy checked the region's inventory and found out the Deerfield, IL BB had 4 copies (everyone else had 0 cuz the game is discontinued). I called the Deerfield store but they couldn't find any copies of the game. I took a chance and drove to Fry's, which had 2 left. Now they don't have any left ;)

I think the only place you're going to find a new 60GB model is perhaps at Kmart/Sears/FYE or some other store where games/electronics isn't the focus.

there's a Gamestop right in Evanston, in case you haven't found it yet. It's across from the Century theater and Border's. Not sure about other shops, though.

I know this seems like a long shot, but have you checked any pawn shops or goodwill like places? I live in Andersonvill, just south of Evanston and a second hand shop called the Brown Elephant has some good stuff like that sometimes.

I'm not exactly sure where the Sun Plaza is. Is it accross from the Uptown Post Office (just off the Lawrence stop)? Anyway if you're around there you can check out the Salvation army south of Montrose on Broadway or the Unique thrift store north of Montrose on Sheridan. I've seen some games in both of those on a couple of occasions.

I know that Radioshack used to carry them but I believe they were discontinued in the later half of last year. I would assume that there's one or two hanging around on a rack or in a clearance bin since Radioshack wouldn't be the first place I would look for that type of adapter. The big problem is that it's actually a Radioshack brand.

I went to the Micro Center on Elston today and noticed they now have a seperate gaming section. Not sure if they'll start discounting games, but it's worth a note. I rarely see deals posted in the forums from Micro Center.

To be more specific she was on the turn table of the Ford Mustang Bullet(green) just near the Mustang King of the Road edition. They took some information of mine and you get contacted by email. I am guessing its like the other Ford deal for the 50$ BB GC where you really dont even need to test drive the car just get it signed by the dealer. I am still waiting on the email but if any CAG that planned on going out to the auto show try to look for that when your in the Ford section.
