The tilt at Ford City Mall is still open(7601 South Cicero Avenue). Their newest games that I remember playing there were King of Fighters XI, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and Metal Slug 6. I'm hoping that they get Street Fighter 4 if it sees a US arcade release.

I believe Bunny Hutch looked open whenever I drive past it (does the course close for winter?), but I haven't been back to see the games inside since Street Fighter II was still in vogue. Maybe I'll stop by 'n' see (though I hear the food was atrocious). For those who don't know, Bunny Hutch/Novelty Golf is located just behind the Shell station on Devon and Lincoln.

I actually got some guides from the last Best Buy drop. I missed the last few before that. I got just about every guide I wanted from the drop and the ones I didn't find, I traded some dupes from the drop to get them. Got them from the BB on North and Sheffield. They had practically all the pennied guides when they dropped Monday. :D

All I got this time was Kane & Lynch. I think the kid who works in the game section at the BB by my house buys all the pennied out items. Last round he followed me around the game section when he saw I was carrying several guides (FF III,Gears,etc). He kept asking me what guides I was buying and if I was looking for any other ones and kept offering to ring me up. I said "No thanks...I am still shopping", because I figured he would tell me he couldn't sell them to me. After him asking to ring me up for the third time, I noticed another customer who was looking for help that this kid was ignoring while following me like a lost puppy. He asked me once again if I "needed help" and I replied "No, but that guy over there looks like he could use some help". I then walked briskly to the front of the store - using the other customer as a c-block and checked out my penny guides! :-\"

I'm trying to get an idea of a price range that is fair for me and a deal for anyone that wants them. In another thread, others are getting rid of their comics for 50 cent to a buck a book, with the valuable ones with various prices. But they are doing it by the bunch with 10+ bunches. I want to go a little lower than that since I want to get rid of all of them for a nice lump sum.

I'll have to get my hands on a comic price guide or newest Wizard and check the prices of the valuable comics ($10+) and knock a huge discount off them. At least half. I know I want 3 figures for the whole collection, though. So there's not going to be a deal of the century on them, but I'll be pricing it all to sell kinda quick.

I'll get the list going the next day I have off.

Oh, and by the way, these will not be shipped. Interested buyers will have to pick up the books. Closest expressway by me is 90/94.

i don't know but it's really tough to find now that SSBB came out. i've looked at a lot of places. so far, didn't see them at any kmarts, sears, circuit city or best buy stores.

i thought gamestop would be my best bet. probably been to 4 gamestops in the past week and haven't seen anything either. and i don't know if gamestop.com can help out at all. the website puts all wireless gamecube controllers under one SKU, wavebirds and 3rd party ones.

Costco membership is fully refundable - If you don't find someone to buy the games, you can always get a membership, get what you need and cancel in a few weeks. As long as you aren't abusing the system by doing this several times a year, should be no problem.

Unfortunately, Chicago isn't a great place for independents - EB/Gamestop pretty much dominate with a few GameCrazys here and there. Sad news about the Hollywood Video as I think they're going under. Been a lot of store closings lately, including some that had GameCrazys attached. From talking to a manager at one, apparently the GameCrazy side of the business is doing OK but the movie rental side is dragging them down.

Anyway, the only place I know is Videogames Then & Now which has a great selection of classic games/systems but also stocks newer stuff. It's on the west edge of Chicago at 4351 N Harlem Ave (Harlem and Montrose being the main cross streets.)

I just missed the admissions deadline for UIC. Also, DePaul has the tuiton listed as 23,820.00 per year. Does that mean it include Fall and Spring semesters?

Depends. What are you looking to major in? DePaul is definitely a school on the rise, but they're not as prestigious as they like to think they are... at least at this point. Still, I'd take it over UIC based on it's location, rep and facilities. You have to figure out what best meets your needs though.

haha i graduated from depaul in 2005. that's EXACTLY what the girls talk about in the halls. and here i am driving my sentra w/ the exhaust system rusted and broken in 2 places.

joeposh: if you're gonna go into business/commerce, computers or law, i'd say depaul is a good choice. anything else and you're better off going to UIC. being an IL resident helps w/ the tuition at UIC...it doesn't help at depaul. also if you're coming straight out of high school, consider community college or a lower tier school for your general education classes. saves you money.

There is also a site called going.com that has a lot of events on it. It is free and it has a lot of info on it. The Aragon is usually open floor (no seats). It holds around 3,300 people if it is full. It all depends on what music you like. Going has pretty much every club on it, so you can choose your music/crowd.

i went to first fridays (1st friday of the month) @ Vision. it was mostly a Hispanic crowd, music was obviously of the Latin variety with quite a few hip hop / dance songs mixed in there.

uhh i wouldn't honestly recommend where i go. but if you don't mind the mostly asian crowd, GINSIDER (http://www.ginseng.tv/pw/)hosts Fridays at Buzz, Saturdays at Vain. it's hit or miss sometimes, but Vain is pretty nice. no cover. just get the password from the site or you can get annoying texts w/ passwords to your cellphone if you please. annoying texts are good to keep handy if you got a random night ahead of you...at least you know you can go somewhere for free.

if you're the kind that's tryin to get a glimpse of A-Listers, try Manor or RiNo in River North (Buzz is close to there too).

Haven't been clubbin' too often lately although I still frequent 720, funkybuddha, and Red No.5.

Uhh, why? I live right by Gurnee Mills, and almost never go there. It's not that great of a mall. I'd suggest going to Hawthorne Mall next time you come up here. (Mapquest it for directions, as I'm terrible at giving them.)

There's plenty of stuff around the Loop and Gold Coast to keep you busy. A walk up Michigan Ave is always a good way to kill a few hours. Check out Orange or Lou Mitchell's in the Loop for breakfast. Or go to the bar at the top of the Hancock for an awesome and free view of the city.
If the Cubs are playing, take a train up to Wrigleyville and check out the scene at game time.
BTW....since you have a car. Park it and walk or use the CTA. You'll waste more time and $$ looking for parking downtown.

Same here. I was looking for a deal on points when the COD4 maps came out, but had no luck. The TrU on Western was completely out of point cards.
The only deal I saw was for Mass Effect. Best Buy was giving free points when you bought the game.

It is hard to find a deal on points. The last I can remember was a dell deal that many cag's took advantage of. If I remember correctly I scored a 4000pt card for around $25 shipped.

Earthquake: I was still up, gaming. Had my headphones on, felt my chair shaking. I thought it was my body telling me to get some sleep. Didn't find out until later it was a quake. My wife was more rattled even though she was asleep. She's from Mexico City and has ridden out a few big ones.

With the closing of my condo coming in a few days, I don't think I'll have time to get a complete list of my entire collection done, so I guess I'll have to price the whole thing to sell quick. I have alot of Uncanny X-Men (as old as #197 from the top of my head) and Amazing Spider-Man books, with almost all the early Image books, as well as some others. A few of the early X-men (and I think all the older books that I started collecting) are not in "collectible" condition but the newer ones are in Mint/near-mint condition. Anyone interested?

I thought I had alot of Amazing Spider-Man books, but it's a little of everything (Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man). I don't know exactly how many I have. I do have 3 long boxes and 3 short boxes.

I took a quick glance through them, and I'd say:

-probably the most valuable group of books in my collection are the X-Men books so I'll get a list of them and post them.

-I also have a copy of Captain America 109 (how did I get it? I don't remember...)that I WISH was in alot better condition. It's also the oldest comic book I have.

I have a lot of all the early Image books, especially Spawn. Alot of Valiant comics, especially Harbinger, and Solar. A few Spider-Man books (including Amazing Spider-Man #289, 312, 361 x2 with 1st full Carnage appearance). A few DC books, such as Superman, Batman, and Justice League. Also have Fred Hembeck Destroys the Marvel Universe. There is also a few of everything else (Lady Death, Shi, Malibu books, Defiant books, D&D comics, etc.) All these take up the rest of my collection (2 short boxes and 3 long boxes). A couple of the boxes are not completely full.

All these books are a part of the collection and the entire collection goes for $100. I must sell these books ASAP. First person with the cash takes them. SOLD!

It's just a matter of taste. Mexican coke is made with real sugar, not High Fuctrose Corn Syrup. And it's less carbonated. I think the less carbonation makes it taste a little sweeter.

Up until last night, I was planning on it. I'm too old to stand in line for anything like this anymore. I'll be picking it up right after work tomorrow, though. It's not like Gamestop is gonna run out.

A few Spider-Man books (including Amazing Spider-Man #289, 312, 361 x2 with 1st full Carnage appearance). A few DC books, such as Superman, Batman, and Justice League. Also have Fred Hembeck Destroys the Marvel Universe. There is also a few of everything else (Lady Death, Shi, Malibu books, Defiant books, D&D comics, etc.) All these take up the rest of my collection (2 short boxes and 3 long boxes). A couple of the boxes are not completely full.

All these books are a part of the collection and the entire collection goes for $110. I must sell these books ASAP. First person with the cash takes them.

i guess so. i like not-so-hyped midnight releases like guitar hero 3 and mario kart. there was a whopping 20 ppl in the store for each. and at least you get to stay inside the store (at village crossing/niles anyway).

with the weather being what it is and me being a little sick, i might just get the final receipt at 10 pm and come back around 12:15. ahh but who knows, like i have anything better to do on a monday night.

Well, I ended up going to the midnight launch at Six Corners Gamestop last night. I stopped by there at around 7:30 to pay off the game, and asked the dudes working there if they expected a large crowd, and what time to be back up there. One guy told me that people would probably start lining up around 10:30, so I resolved to be up there sometime after 11. I also inquired about security, because I've seen some of those crazy PS3 launch videos on YouTube.

Anyways, I got about half-way through "American Gangster", and then watched some of last week's "The Ultimate Fighter". I was out the door by 11:05, and in the store about 3 minutes later. At that time, there were maybe 15 people there, with more coming through the door in 2's and 3's.

I got my receipt highlighted (only highlighted receipts got priority for when the handed out the game), and hung out with Blackout and his buddy for the remainder of the evening.

We played a GTA trivia game, with about 20 questions. The winner got a $10 Gamestop card. I think I managed to answer 1 question correctly, and Blackout ended up winning the game (there were about 6 other contestants). Congrats, buddy! I talked the manager into giving a $5 card to Blackout's friend, for coming in 2nd place.

The manager began handing out codes for 2 free downloads from the GTA IV soundtrack, so we each managed to get a couple.

While we were waiting, we were trying to determine the oldest person in the store (I think I may have been a close 2nd to the bald guy in glasses, who was probably in his late 40's). We also were laughing at the 2 guys who were either drunk or stoned (or maybe both), and managed to have them take our photo with the Niko cardboard cutout. I'll post the pics later tonight.

The manager made us form 2 lines at around 11:40, and you could just feel the tension and anticipation in the air. It was exhilarating! Right before they starting handing out the games, the cops showed up out front. It seems that they had noticed the minors standing outside the store (the manager made everyone who was not buying the game get out). 3 cops came into the store and starting asking for random ID's. They were giving one kid a hard time, but let him stay in line to get his game. Afterwards, they took him aside, and appeared to be taking down his information in a small white notebook. I'm not sure how many other kids they busted (anyone know what the penalty is for violating curfew?).

I think I was about the 8th person in line, and managed to get out the door by 12:08AM. I went to bed around 12:15, but couldn't get to sleep for another half hour due to all the excitement.

My copy of the game is still sealed on my coffee table, and is crying out for me to play it today.

Not if I get to your place before you do ;) I'm really eager to get my hands on GTAIV, but with a huge backlog of games (playing Bioshock, then COD4, RS: Vegas, TR: Legend, Dead Rising...), I know I'll buy it and it'll sit there for at least a month or two. I might as well wait and get it when the price drops begin. *sigh* Too many games and not enough time to play.

Sounds like it was a fun launch event. I never could get myself to wait in line for anything after one experience waiting for R.E.M. tickets back in the late 90's. Spent 4 hours with three friends in the freezing cold and still got shitty seats.

Spot on! That crazy white crackhead guy was pretty funny. That guy was blazed. Now that you mentioned it, that's probably why the cops showed up because the guy kicked all those people out of the store. I think everything went pretty smooth (I didn't get stabbed or raped) so it's all good.
