I'm so frustrated right now. Here's my situation. A year ago, I won a free year of Xbox live when I bought Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. I used Xbox live up till Sept of last year when I got laid off from my job. I had to move in with my parents who live in the one area where broadband is absolutely not possible. I haven't touched Xbox live since last Sept, my unemployment has run out, and I'm having to watch each dollar carefully. Much to my dismay, I see today they I'm being charged 54 bucks for Xbox live. I immediately go to their website, and I can't find a freaking support phone number anywhere! I tried 1800-4myxbox, but I just get this message, "Please leave a numeric message after the beep". Wrong number?? I feel so helpless. I can't afford to throw away 54 bucks. Will they be total pricks, and not give me a refund?

You have to cancel it through the xbox live system. Even after I canceled my first free two month trial a month early. I still got an email saying i was to be charged.

actually they are pretty cool about it. never gotten the recorded message you mentioned. just try that number back later and cancel it. you have to have the last four #s of the cc you used to set it up and it helps if you remember you gt

Yeah, it's pretty easy....I never cancelled mine, but I switched from a credit card to a 1-year sub card (got it for $20) and Microsoft actually credited my account for my unused months from my initial credit card LIVE purchase.

Try calling 18004MYXBOX and explain your situation.

Thanks guys. I got through this time, not sure what I was doing wrong before. They were very nice, and offered me a full refund. I've tried like crazy to get broadband out here, but it's just not possible.

I'm sure you could get cable broadband, if you pay for the line and equipment to be run to your house that is...

You could always go with satellite broadband. Available anywhere.
