I was starting to look around to get a job and figured:

a. I love gaming and electronics so why not make a little money off doing what I love
b. I'm not as totally clueless as most minimum-wage people are and have a good work ethic
and
c. Employees discount is great fun :D

From what I've gathered Best Buy employees are whipped and yelled at on a daily basis so that might not be the biggest idea. There's also a Circuit City, Gamestop/Software ETC, and Target nearby. Any advice?

I'd say Gamestop. It's a small place, so you won't feel like you're running around everywhere, there are used and new games there, customer level is normally low/ manageable, plus they've got good deals and reasonable people with reasonable cashiers and service. But I'd look into any of them that has employee discounts on games (any places 10-25% off employee discount?! im there!) Then, you couldn't go wrong.

Gamestop seems like a nice place but it might be kinda wierd dealing with the clueless (actsofgord.com). Maybe I'll call them up...

I would say none of the above. Circuit city is flakey, Target just blows and GAMESTOP SUCKS!!!!!!!

Try circuit city or best buy. You get to be around a lot of electronics and games. Usually they do not have a real knowledgable person on gaming. Also you get a great discount ( about $5-$10 off games ) . With gamestop or eb you have to deal a lot with fanboys and min. wage.

my friend gets a 20% discount at gamestop, and you get 1st dibs on the trade ins, hell, I even know a guy who picked up a neo geo for a pretty good price off somebody

To you work at gamestop I think you're required to know everything about every single RPG ever made and watch only anime 24/7. Thats what Im guessing since every employee in every gamestop Ive ever been in is yammering with another employee about RPGs and watching anime.

20% off games isn't too shabby but then it's only games and not other stuff (CD players, computer parts, etc.). I dunno.

Thanks for the help!

Best Buy isn't bad. You can get new games for about $43 with the employee discount, $38 after the gamer gift card. PS2 controllers are $15 with the discount, and you'll save about $2-$4 on each DVD and CD, excluding new releases. You also get about half off of car stereo equipment and a ton off of cell phone accessories. It is a pain in the ass having to push all their service plans and the like, though.

Gamestop is good. Just dont work in a dirty one. The 4 GS stores around here are good but theres on REALLY Dirty one.. Just make sure you know a good deal about stuff. NOT JUST STUPID SHIT like anime and Nintendo. I know all they talk about there is fucking X-play and all the 'hot girls in games'. Theyre annoying but you learn to deal.

Hmm... what's Ciruit City like? They are right across from my Best Buy and they hardly have any people there it seems. There store is also really clean and has a better "feel" than the warehouse-like Best Buy...

I'd go for a used gaming store. This way you can get rare games cheap. If you work in a store like BB or CC you end up looking at only NEW games.

From what I've been told Funcoland is the best store to work at. They are a subsidiary of gamestop. The reason why: most are strip-malled, same customers, loyal customers, lots of trade ins, lots of old games, etc.

Circuit city has gotten better since they stopped the incentive based sales model, now the employees won't bother you at all...hell they won't even talk to you.
