From the first demo, I said this game had potential to be the next Halo.. then the second demo came along and I ate my words. Well, it's out today. Gamespot gave it a 7.2, and IGN, once again defying anyone's concept of common sense and logic, gave the XBox version an 8.0 and the PS2 version an 8.5.

Anyone pick it up yet? Initial impressions? Anything?

I'll pick up my Gamerush preorder later on tonight. I'll post back then. I sure hope they include the Arcade Treasures bonus.

I agree that the first demo in the MK:D disc was pretty good. Not too sure why PS2 would have a higher score than XBOX, but maybe they messed up something in the xbox version?

Someone said because XBox is flooded with FPS's and this one does nothing to stand out, I just think IGN is being stupid again.

I think the xbox reviews are lower because of more FPSes being available.
Anyways, I got the game for Xbox and I am mighty impressed. A lot better than the last demo easily. The opening level is nicely balanced between cut-scenes, learning the controls, and learning the degree of interactions within the environment.
The game quickly becomes quite hectic when you enter this area with no lights on and you must use the flash light. Different than halo, the flashlight is on the weapon so when you go to reload the flashlight point of screen and up just like its really attached. Really adds a little bit of, "Ahh crap, whats going on?"
Otherwise, the AI isn't being shown off yet but the aliens sure are persistent and they can really get you pretty good. Weapons are fairly basic to begin with though you get to dual wield with rifles/machine guns pretty early.
Having fun so far, the story and cut scenes are worked in really well and the voice worked turned out to be great among the squad. Me happy. Be back later with more.
