The items listed below are as they appear in the Fry's Ads. If an item is listed as "SJ only", for example, it could still be on sale at other locations (i.e. - Austin, Houston, Sacramento, San Diego, AZ, GA, IN, NV, OR), but it only appeared in the SJ ad. However, since these ads are not available online, I cannot confirm them.

I'm holding the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper ad in my hand right now, and it lists Forza (in stores 4/5 by Noon), Halo 2, and Star Wars Episode III (PS2 and Xbox, in stores 4/5 by Noon) for 34.99.

EDIT: I just called, and Forza is in stock today, 4/4. I'm heading over there now. Sweet!

Got my copy from Renton. As I drove into the lot, I saw a guy leaving with two copies in his hand. Fortunately, there were plenty more to go around.

That said, I was gonna get in on a ECS motherboard and Sempron 2600+ processor for $69.99 out there door. But when I asked a sales person about it with the motherboard in my hand, he backhandly said he thought they were out, and went about doing other things. Got so mad I dropped the MB box on a display of something else, bought Forza, and promised myself not to deal with those damn sales people again. Never liked them to begin with, and that really chapped my hide. I did that to customers where *I* work, and I wouldn't be there long.

Off my soapbox. Sorry to vent.

You don't go to Fry's for service. You go in there knowing what you are getting, grab what you want and leave. I thought this was common knowledge.

bingo, if you go to frys you better know what your looking for. They won't hold your hand or help you unless your buying a $2000 TV. They sell such volume they don't need good customer service. Their sale items sell out all the time, they don't worry about not making the sale since someone else will buy the product.

That sucks you didn't get in on the Jade Empire deal man. But, they might have it again this weekend for $35, who knows. And also, last saturday I was able to PM the Fry's ad at EBgames right by my house. 8-)

I just picked up the last copy off the shelf in Palo Alto, it was $34.99. This types of sale usually last until Sunday or so, but I'd go by soon as stores are likely to run out of stock.

Thanks for the understanding guys, and the warning about Fry's service. I sure do love this site. One of the few that folks more often then not are cool to each other. Just damn impressive. ;)

Doubtful about the Jade Empire deal going on this weekend. With these sorts of prices, once it's over... it's usually over. Which makes me wonder, is the Episode III deal really only a 1/2 day affair? The Renton Fry's was out of the Special Edition version of Jade Empire anyway. I'll just have to borrow it or something, so I can see the special character, etc.

As for my PC purchase, I think I decided today what I want to do. While looking for a micro ATX motherboard to fit in an empty Apple G5 case, I decided I'd like to get something with a PCI-X slot, since ALL my other PC's use AGP. And since mATX and PCI-X limited my options, and my perference for ABIT and ASUS motherboards limits things even more... I think I have my choice.

Probably looking at the ABIT IG-80 motherboard, and an Intel 630 processor. That will give me a 2MB cache CPU that does Hyper-Threading, is x64 capable, and has more power than my existing Shuttle SB61G2 box with a 2.4C CPU. I still wouldn't mind going with an Athlon 64 setup, but I'd want the latest socket type with my other requirements. And I just didn't see what I was looking for. Definately will be a measure 5 times, cut once operation to try and build this system... but I think it will be fun. :)

Gonna go read the Episode III reviews if there are any, now that I've finished installing most of the "extra" software I want on my 12" Powerbook with Tiger. Everyone have a great night!!! :D

Fry's usually have the ad going til Sunday. They sometimes dont put it on sale though for the Friday's ad (small chance of it happening though).
