So how much (on average) does one of these things hold? I play mostly RPGs, and I only have saves for Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue on my only VMU. It looks to be about 1/2 full? Am I misunderstanding the screen, or do I need to go shopping for VMUs?

Thanks, all.

yeah they have something like 200 blocks, assuming this is a normal sega vmu, but Shenmue alone takes like 80 blocks.

Yeah, it's a normal one. I guess I'll start looking in the Trade Forum for VMUs. Thanks for the info.

yea, they dont hold too much and the batteries die very very quickly (you can still use the vmu without a battery and the memory wont be erased, but you will not be able to use it when it isnt in the controller)....if you hear a loud beep when you turn the DC on with a VMU in it, the VMUs batteries are dead

as for size, if you are playing games that dont need the extra screen, just get a 4X memory card....obviously, it holds 4 times as much as a regular VMU, but doesnt have a screen and doesnt use batteries

The one I've got now has a screen, so I think I'll look for a higher capacity one. The battery is dead, but I don't think it's a big issue. I just want to be able to save.

Yeah the 4x ones are great, try to find a Sega one if possible since they are more reliable.

If you arn't in any rush to get one. Keep checking EBgames. The online site gets brand new( not resealed ) blue and green VMU cards in from time to time. I think I only paid $4.99 for each of them. Picked up three. Worth looking into if you don't need one right away.

sometimes EB drops the price on used official sega ones to $2 too, I ordered 6 of them a few months ago, I cant wait till next gen when the PS2 ones will be cheap
