I got my first hole in one today. I wasn't even expecting it... I used Shu with the perfect impact and Super Topspin. I took one shot and it dropped... BANG!!! I love watching that replay all over again... I have a few chip in eagles as well... anyone else with one or a really good shot?

I got a hole-in-one in Mario Golf(GBC) a few days ago. I have tons of chip-ins in HSG games, but no hole-in-one yet.

I've gotten a few hole in one's before on various golf games, but I've never made a double eagle of any of em.

can you save your replays in this game to your memory stick? If so, im guessing it would then be possible to upload it onto your computer and watch it with some special program?

It automatically saves hole in ones, chip in shots, all the good stuff.

Can you only save one profile to a memory stick? I have my profile and my gf wanted to play. When she clicked new game it said it would write over the existing data.

No Hole-in-ones yet, but a pair double eagles here...
Greatly surprised at the amount of lockables (boring for the most part, but still there none the less) and longevity. Played about ten hours worth - haven't come remotely close to losing yet, but still am on Novice working my way up.
Anyone try multiplayer? Opinions?

Because I am bored with Lumines, I buckled and bought another PSP game. This game is decent, but feels like a port of the HSGs on PS2. Anyways, my only complaint that the learning curve is too slow and the unlockable courses are much too slow to acquire. I've played for hours upon hours, and still haven't unlocked a single course.
I got a flag shot medal on one of the first few games I played - really because I didn't know what I was doing and hit it way too hard and just got lucky (I was used to the Mario Golf process where you aim for the end of the power bar instead of having to stop short). Since then, even though I'm up to the second from the last level, I haven't gotten any other medals.
I assume a hole-in-one gets you a medal. Does anyone know what the other medals are for? If I knew what they were I could try for a few of them (I'm sure there's a FAQ about it but I'm lazy and others here might want the same info). Also, I'm new to HSG (used to Mario Golf on GC and GBA), so maybe these are standard to all the HSG games.
I ALMOST got a hole-in-one the other day - hit a perfect sidespin shot on a par 3 and had it curve beautifully right at the cup. Just hit it a bit too hard and it skipped over :(
As for this game being just like a port - that may be (I never played the others). But this is one of the reasons I like the PSP - I have WAY too many console games to play and need some good portable ones to take on trips. So I'll just stick to the PSP version and not get the regular ones. Unique games are great, of course, but I don't mind a few ports mixed in, especially a game like this that seems tailor-made for the PSP.
Holy fuck...
Since that last post I've gotten TWO Hole-in-ones (or is that two holes-in-one?)... Also have progressed to the bronze level and HSG King ranking. I now have all the courses but the last one - "Dinosaur Park" (I think that's what it is called) sounds cool, can't wait. Anyone know when you unlock that? By getting through Silver or Gold (probably Gold) I imagine...

I've played all 5 HSG games to date and not one Hole in one :(
I've gotten several hundred chip-ins though.

Well, don't feel too bad - I played through Mario Golf on GC and GBA and never hit one. I was as surprised as hell when I got the first one and even more for the second because I figured I'd never get one again (plus I had turned away for a minute, only to look back when the screen went nuts).

That's because you have to know HOW to unlock them, I played for a little less than an hour before unlocking my first course. I have to say, this is by far the best HSG game I've played yet.

Speaking of the topspins and what not, can anybody explain the process to me? I know it has something to do with the dpad while shooting, but didn't really get what the game was getting at.
I haven't got a hole-in-one, but did get the flag medal. I managed to get a hole-in-one in Links though. I just unlocked the third course which was nice.

To do a normal topspin push up on the d-pad when you set the power (I usually just hold it in until the end as well). To do a super-topspin you need to push down (which would normally do backspin) and then switch to up when you press X back at the beginning (I forget what that's called - the control area or something - the one where you try to press it when it is right on the little bar). You need to hit it DEAD on to get the super topspin though.
I use the regular spins all the time, but only occasionally have done the super spins - it tends to mess me up when I try them and I end up shanking the shot entirely :D.

No hole-in-one yet but I shot -7 today to win Alia and go up a level. I don't think I've made a sick enough shot to save yet.

While we're on the topic of golf games (lol sorry for the OTness), is HSG:OT good if you dont really love golf? I was looking a Tiger Woods, and it seems to have more to offer, but with the name Tiger Woods it sounds like a game for someone who loves golf. So the other question is is HSG:OT or Tiger Woods better? Answer this if you want, but focus on the main topic, I don't mean to totally hijack this thread.

I got HSG:OT and I don't play golfing games at all, due to too much info to digest, but thsi game is one of the few that is really awsome. This and Ribbit King.

I concur. I would add Mario Golf for the GC to that list as well. In fact, it is probably the best of the 3 (and the GBA/GC connectivity is actually useful for this game). I play Ribbit King with my son - a great game to play with kids. It is really more luck than anything, but still fun in small doses.
HSG and Mario Golf require a little skill in timing the button presses and in aiming with the wind and putting on slopes. I never played any golfing games before Mario Golf and have only played that, Ribbit King, and now HSG on the PSP. If I ever get more time I might pick up the PS2 versions of HSG (I really wish I had gotte in on that free after coupon EB deal on Hot Shots Fore - but that was before I played the PSP version!). I have no interest in real golf, nor in real golf sims like Tiger Woods.

From what I hear about the controls on Tiger I would stay away from it if you don't like golf in general. The word seems to be that it is pretty tricky. HSG is fun and can be played in quick spurts if you are on the go. HSG can also be had for about $30 instead of $50 for Tiger if you use your CAG skills. That is what drove my purchase.

HSG>>>Tiger
There's a very good reason why this is called everybody's golf in Japan (and europe as well, I think).
Anywho, I finally hit my first hole-in-one and it was fucking awesome! over 8 years and across 5 games I finally did it!

Hey, thanks... I've only gotten #6 and #8 so far - but I'm pretty close on 2 and 3. I take it for #4 you need to get the loyalty of all the characters up to max? I've been playing with one characer exclusively ever since I got her (can't remember the name - the one who slashes her putter like a sword when you get a birdie). I guess I can mix it up a bit after I get to Platinum.

Picked this game up yesterday at BB /w the $5 off coupon. This game is sweet, addicting.
Wow... I had pretty much breezed through the game until I hit the Bronze tournament. I simply can't post anything close to the winning score on that damn Royal course (the second to last one). Before that I might have lost a match here and there but was always able to win on the second try. I think, maybe, I've cleared one match on the Royal, but the next 2 that I've tried I keep finishing 4-16 strokes behind :(.
Either it got MUCH harder very suddenly, or my playing style just isn't compatible with that damn course.

SWEET, I just scored a hole in one today on the Alps course. I hit a perfect shot and it bounced on the green and hit the pin and went in. :)
