This number is according to Alexa.com, a website that tracks the traffic that websites get.

Considering that there are (literally) billions of websites on the internet, I'd say we're doing pretty darn well... :D

Why does it say there are so many popups? Is it from all the PMs before it changed?

Wow, VGT really took a dive recently.

I think its because at times you couldn't get onto the site for days at a time. THe vgtalk server was really bad for a while.

The nice thing about having a good Alexa ranking is that it helps give your website credibility (which is helpful in my dealings with retailers).

If you guys download the Alexa Toolbar (http://download.alexa.com/?amzn_id=cheapassgam08-20) you can improve CAGs rating just by your usual surfing. It will also tell you every websites ranking when you surf to it.
It also has a built in popup blocker and uses the Google search engine. I believe it also automatically gives CAG credit for purchases made at Amazon.

I have it installed on my work PC.
Yes, it is spyware in a way because it has to track what sites you visit as that's its purpose. Think of it like the Nielsen ratings for TV sets.

Its very easy to uninstall when you want to get rid of it.

Looks like this:

Cool...I appreciate it and you are helping the site by doing so.

I installed the toolbar on my home PC and I do like how it tells you how popular my favorite sites are. Its pretty interesting.

Alexa rankings do carry weight with retailers, PR companies and other business that can help CAG(s). I'm not exactly thrilled that CAG's ranking has fallen by about 1,000 recently (now at 16,622).

If CAG could somehow crack 10,000, that would be awesome.

Lol, if we break 10,000, we need to have a real CAG party!

I've had the Alexa toolbar installed for awhile now. But I still have no idea how the rankings are determined.

Think of it like the Nielsen ratings except its for the internet, instead of TV.
If you have the Alexa toolbar installed, just surfing normally will strenthen the rankings of the sites you visit.
I installed it on my PCs at home and work, just to give CAG that extra push.

CheapyD, I've always wondered (and maybe you touched on this in a nother thread I havent seen) but exactly how does CAG get credit for sales?

Is it aslong as a link from this site takes you to the purchase site or is there a specific code in your links that identifies CAG as the referer. Because I'd personally just come here before going to amazon or something for any purcahses if I knew you;d get instant credit for it. (I'm about to order a new Wacom tablet!)

Based on visitations by you and everyone else who owns the toolbar.

Yes, there a specific code in the links that identifies CAG as the referrer.
If you use the links provided in the Store Links menu (on the front page or the forums) CAG will get credit. The links do not have to redirect to a specific product for CAG to get credit. Any link that has CAG's code will do.

Also, if you use a CAG link to a specific product, and then you don't buy that product, but instead get something else during that same session, CAG still gets credit, AFAIK.

Cool, then from now on I'll just use CAG as a "favorites" to get to store sites.

Maybe you can add a few links to DVD places like http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/.

I should have a contest to "encourage" people a bit.
Maybe something like "first person to post when CAG hit 10,000" gets a free game. Obviously, someone who has the Alexa toolbar will win.
:-k

that would work pretty well IMO. An incentive like that would def. maek more people install the toolbar
