Okay cool. I'll create a thread at PA sometime this week as well.

Also, SnowCone is sort of reworking the cover pages at his site. So, he's a little behind in posting them up over there. The ukbeats album that Nate runs is the best place to get the most recent covers.

:)

Behold...

Here is the beta version of the new Cover Site if everyone wants to take a look and start testing for me:

Look really great. I like the idea of what you've done with the thumbnail. However, are you just using regular JavaSCript to swap the images? The page still takes quite awhile to load because it still loads all the images, even though it doesn't show them. Same for switching between sections.

IMO, a user will generally be going into one section (at least per visit) and so make separate pages for each section would be fine (thus requiring a server roundtrip, but loading each page faster).

I dunno how much time you have, but it might be fun/cool to use Ajax tecnology (glorified dhtml and xml) to do the thumbnail swap, similar to Google maps.

Snowcone
07-11-2005, 03:57 PM
I will look into the Ajax idea. The page loads are of concern because it isn't actually loading all the thumbs, just the initial one displayed in each section. My theory is that the sql queries are slowing down the page load.

Backlash
07-11-2005, 04:30 PM
Ah, ok. I thought you were preloading all the thumbnails. Making the tabs separate pages would still probably help though.

Snowcone
07-11-2005, 06:16 PM
The only problem I see with that is when you search, it displays the search results by platform and the dynamic tab switching lets you view them that way.

What kind of load times are you getting right now? Another user says 1-4 seconds which is good enough IMO.

I am on a pretty good cable connection and it's taking quite awhile for the initial page load, but decently fast after that. Check this: http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/wso.php?url=http://www.snackbar-games.com/viewcover2.php

As far as the search results by platform, I would think anyone searching and printing these would know which platform they want before they search :)

Snowcone
07-11-2005, 08:31 PM
I couldn't get that to process the page right this morning when I was testing.

Edit: I just tested for the first time from home and it loaded in 2 seconds. Who is your cable provider?

I uploaded Mayor McCheese's covers to Nate's album for him, since he was having trouble with it for some reason. And I'm on my ultra-fast campus connection, so.. it takes like 3 seconds to upload each one. :)

As for the new layout, I really like it so far. I haven't tested it on a regular internet connection though, only this campus connection, which is extremely fast. But at least from here, the pages load in a split second! :-P

Mayor McCheese
07-11-2005, 10:47 PM
The new layout looks sharp, but I'm getting slow load times too. I do miss being able to see multiple covers at a time though. It was kind of nice to be able to browse that way. Either way, props for taking the time to put this together. :applause:

I did some more testing, with basically the same results:

The initial page load is pretty slow, but after that it is very fast (even when searching, etc).

One note about the search: it is a bit odd not seeing any search results when you search. It takes you back to the home page, and there is no indication of how many results were found or which category they were in. If the search is across all categories, it would be really nice to have a little summary appear which says something like

4 games found for GBA
2 games found for N64

or something like that.

This project is amazing, finaly I can store my N64 games in a proper way. Anyhow I have a few boxes I can easily scan, listed are the following.

_______________________
BattleTanx - Global Assult
Nuclear Strike 64
Body Harvest
Vigilante 8 (Box is damaged)
Quake II
Perfect Dark
The Legend Of Zelda OOT
Shadow Man
Resident Evil II
F-Zero X
_______________________

Games that I need scans for.

Doom 64
Extreme G II
AeroGauge

I'll upload raw scans as soon as possible.

Oh, and I put MayorMcCheese's Blitz cover in the online album.

Also, Snowcone has instituted the new layout. The n64 section doesn't quite work, as the "download cover" links do not link to the right place; as in, the images are on the server, but the links do not point to them. I'm sure it's an easy fix.

Anyway, cool, more covers.

Ok the following raw scans are available.

BattleTanx - Global Assult
Nuclear Strike 64
Body Harvest
Quake II
Shadow Man
Vigilante 8

I added all the raw images to the upload site below.
The Vigilante 8 Box (Back Cover) was damaged, perhaps someone with photoshop
and a little time could fix it up, if possible.

Anyhow, thanks again for this cover project, great stuff indeed. Enjoy the scans.

There were some people in the SNES project splitting up a 100 pack. You might want to check there. Or... order the 100 pack yourself and then sell off what you don't need. Unless you never buy classic games, you'll want a few extra. I wish I had kept some extra myself.

I'm using VHS cases to hold my N64 games, it's just a clear case with nothing inside, they hold manuals and cartridges quite well, however they do shake around a bit, the brand name is maxwell I think.

P.S
I have to modify the covers to fit onto a VHS template.

Well, we're trying to get scans for every N64 game. So basically, until we get as many people to submit scans as possible, requests don't really apply. I mean, any request anyone could make is just one of every cover we're trying to get. But I already have a few covers I've made from web-art, they just aren't as high quality as the 300 DPI uploads people have submitted. We should be able to obtain virtually every N64 cover as 300 dpi scans, though, eventually. Hopefully.

You somehow ended up in the wrong thread; this is for N64 cases, and the GBA DS thread is here, I believe.. (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29544)

Anyway, yeah, the GBA games fit perfectly into DS cases because there's a slot specifically designed for them in there.

Lastly, I have my internet connection back, again, so I can do more work on these covers.. excellent..

We'll get them all eventually, we just need to be patient. If a good box lot would ever go up on eBay I'll buy it, scan em in, and then resell them =)

For anyone interested in some games w/cases I am selling my extra n64 games on eBay w/the custom cases. just search for "n64 custom case." I try to buy 1-2 lots of games a month, so I should be posting auctions somewhat regularly & will always try to include a custom case w/insert if we have it =)

I need some beta testers again.. I am porting the site over to be a much faster dynamic Ajax application and I want to see what you guys think of this:

http://www.snackbar-games.com/gbacovers2.php?cat=gba&view=s

On sections of covers with more than 10 items, I have set it up so there are pages. Currently it doesn't tell you what page you are on, but I will be fixing that. The above url is an example of dynamically loading each new set of covers. Let me know how it works. If it works well, I will be making the whole project run on dynamic queries like that.

I print my covers in microsoft photo editor, if you had MS Office it's just an add-on you can install. I have to rotate the covers 90 degrees, but then it prints fine.

The reason why "Nintendo" seems very similar but not the exact same font and missing the Copyright is that its illegal to do so. I'm treading on thin ice here, but at least its not completly illegal.

What you guys are doing is on a very very thin line of legality, lets stomp the possibility of being sued or shut down by customizing outside of the original design.

???? The whole point of this project is to attempt to keep the original artwork as original as possible. The legal issue is a joke, come on - do you really think they're going to come after us. Copy rights are not black & white like so many people discuss on message boards. The law when practiced has a huge grey area, one of those grey areas is that it is not interested in minor infractions - which at most is what this is. I'll tell you what - if Nintendo or associates contact us (and they would me since I'm hosting all these) about this I will talk to one of my lawyers and see what he has to say. Until then, let's not rock the boat & stay focused on getting all these covers.

Also, changing the font slightly means nothing. The name itself is copyrighted so you can write Nintendo in Old English font and it's the same as if you took it straight from their logo. The context that you're using it in is the most important.

Ok guys I have a question. About the Sega Saturn, I was wondering if you can use two of the same light guns to play a game like virtua fighter or if they have to be different. I believe for the Sega CD you had to have one blue justifier and one pink one to play two player. Is this kinda the same for saturn??? Also am I correct about the Sega CD???

Sorry to upset you, I will discontinue to support your project.

Also, every single custom cover site.. for movies, cds and games thats hosted in america has be sued and shut down. Keep that in mind.

I've been making custom covers for quite a while, (about 4-5 years now) and was the first to post custom covers on this site... (AFAIK) I've seen about 10 websites shut down, and they've all been sued. I've been contacted by Nintendo's, Sega's and Namco's laywers via email multiple times. I've done it long enough to know they cant really touch me with the way I do things, have you?

Mookyjooky, don't quit making custom covers just b/c of people who think the law will never get them. Your covers are some of the best I've seen so far.

Anyways, I have seen sites that host covers get shut down before, but I've never heard about companies sueing those sites. Guess its just something I've missed.

It's something to be aware of for certain. In my mind it seems that the farther removed from current gen stuff we are, the less likely someone is to get pissed, but that seems like a wholly random and arbitrary judgment on my part. I'm sure the SNES or Genesis projects could come under fire.

Be careful, all, and heed any advice given as well intentioned. Mooky, I hope you'll reconsider abandoning this project.

Any thoughts on what the "offical" color of the N64 is? For my own twisted purposes, I'm customzing the covers so that the spines all match. I did the same for the SNES, but that was easy as I used roughly the same teal as is on the top of most of the Nintendo-made cart labels (see Mario World, etc.). But the N64 I'm having a harder time with figuring out the right one. I think the green pictured below works well, but looking for any sugggestions. Thanks!

I'd like a very uniform look across all the games, so I'm giving this a shot. Not to mention this allows me to cheat and print spine only covers for the games that aren't done yet to have them looking right on the shelf before we get some more finished. ;)

Everyone take a deep breathe....

IF Nintendo or any other publisher decides to try and shut this project down I will handle it. No I don't have some all powerful contact at any of these companies, but it does help that we are a review site. I am sure if I had them pull the sales figures for the DS cases that it would more than offset any type of negative image they think this project or any of these projects is creating.

Remember that we are a team creating these covers for the common goal of having a massive collection of covers that anyone can print to enhance the look of their game collection. I know tension can mount, but everyone just stay cool.

Yeah, but that's still only 62 cents each. It should never get over 65 or 70 cents, I'd think. Certainly not $1.70, which he had before correcting his price.

Also, this project has slowed way down. Hopefully I will get some time soon to try to correct some of those raw scans, but I was also hoping to have more scans coming in...they've dried up a lot.

Yeah it has slowed down.. Not sure why, exactly, because there are still a lot of megapopular N64 games that don't have covers yet.. Like WaveRace64 and Turok Dinosaur Hunter.

I still have the option of uploading a couple I made from the web, although the caveat is decreased clarity on them. It would allow a few people to finish their collecitons, though.

Anyway, the last person to submit scans was Fatbat, which was quite a while ago. I was gonna do some covers, but I have a ton of exams and finals coming up and I've been really busy.

Yeah I need both Wave Race and Turok. There are still a couple others I need. I went through some of my old stuff but I couldn't find any more boxes. I'll try posting a link to this thread on some other message boards and maybe we can get some more scans.

What kind of size/quality paper are you guys using to print these out?

Legal size paper, and just regular stock. I tried printing them on 25% cotton paper and then on 100% cotton paper, hoping to get a crisper color, but I just got the opposite. It's a small difference, but why use the $$$ paper if the regular stuff looks better.

I'll buy n64 boxes in October/November-ish off eBay. I'm going on a road trip for a month, then moving, then getting a new job, then I'll start to participate more... everyone has their excuses I guess. I was expecting a lot more partcipation from the digitpress guys since so many of them have near complete/complete n64 collections. Oh well...

Awesome! Eventually (hopefully soon) slash and I (and McCheese?) will find some time to turn all the scans into finished covers, so keep 'em coming.

Just in case, anybody have South Park Rally? That's the last one I need for my personal collection....at least until I find a copy of Space Invaders 64.

Now I have one idea to get some covers to scan...buy them on ebay. NOW I KNOW that they won't be cheap (They are all 5 dollars give or take a dollar including shipping). But you can get some rarer/harder to find boxes this way. I was looking and I saw Command & Conquer and I figured that, never hearing of it until now it was pretty rare. When I look at the auction I figured out that it was sealed in the box! for only 10 bucks! So I figure some guys.

Worse comes to worse ask the seller to scan a copy of the box in 300dpi and then say "Uhhh I don't think I want it" :D.

Just an idea.

Yeah that would suck if we did. If we need a new place to host files I have a website we can use. Also I emailed some people on ebay and asked if they could scan the front, back and spine of their boxes at 300 dpi and I got one person that said they would do that for me tonight or tomorrow.

Edit: Instead of scanning the box one of the sellers just took pictures of them. The pictures look pretty high resolution though but they have the date in the corner so I don't know if someone could edit that out or not. I think that someone will more photo editing talent than myself probably could. I'll upload them to the raw scan site if that starts working again or I'll put them on my website. Since the guy with the box was kind enough to take the time and take photos of the box I'll advertise his auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8214963920&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

Okay guys, my turn to contribute some raw scans. I don't have the time to do well polished covers at the moment, but I would be more than happy to get you guys some good quality box art. Are there any top priority titles you would like me to try and do, or should I just start nailing off all of the ones I have in alphabetical order?

I probably have about ~150 or so unique boxes.

Unfortunately, the raw scans site seems to be down right now. I'll PM the owner, but we may need an alternate FTP site. If we do use an alternate site, I propose the following naming scheme:

gamename_front
gamename_back

Good point, though backing up snackbar probably isn't necessary. The raw ones, though, obviously need some backup. It wasn't a big deal when we all had more time to create finished covers (mostly slash).

That said, I pieced together one for Space Invaders based on pics from the internet. The front and back are bad resolution and I had to make a totally custom spine, but it's not too bad. I'll upload it later (when I get home).

So here is my Space Invaders (http://www.snackbar-games.com/uploads/Backlash.n64_n64_spaceinvaders.jpg) cover.

Again, I had to use low res pics of the front and back and the spine is completely custom because I couldn't find any pics of it. I just tried to kind of match the look on the front with my limited Photoshop skills. Still, it looks much better than the plastic box on my shelf.

This project is officially underway, with several covers already created! So, here are the details:

Cases

We are using the generic game cases from MediaShelving.com. They can be bought cheaply, but only in bulk (100 at a time). So, unless you have a ton of caseless N64/SNES/Genesis games, you will probably want to have one person buy them and then split the cost.

They can be found here (http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG&Category_Code=VHS). Make sure to get the ones with Full Sleeve (to put the cover in, of course).

Existing covers

These must be printed on legal size (8.5x14) paper (in color of course!). Regular white paper should work fine, not sure about glossy or other stock yet.

Finished covers (http://ukbeats.com/n64/final) (in alphabetical order)

Complete list of games (http://www.ukbeats.com/n64list.htm) - shows scans we already have and the ones we still need

SnowCone (host of the GBA Cover project) is also hosting the N64 covers. They can be found at his Snackbar-games site (http://www.snackbar-games.com/viewcover.php?view=n64). I don't believe they are all up there yet, but this we should be able to get them in synch soon.

How can I help?

We need scans! You can create a scan for any N64 game that we don't yet have. Scan the back, the front, and the top at 300 dpi or better resolution.
Ideally, you would then crop and resize your scans to the correct dimensions and then upload it. If your Photoshop (or Gimp, etc) skills are lacking, then you can just upload the raw scans to our ftp site (graciously hosted by nate1749) and others can fix them up.

Right now we actually have quite a few raw scans waiting, and we also need help turning raw scans into finished covers. See the details in the next section (especially slash's guide).

Upload finished covers here:
http://www.snackbar-games.com/uploadcovers.php
Make sure to choose N64 for the format.

Upload raw scans here:
http://ukbeats.com/n64/raw - this is a sort of photo album thing

login: n64covers
pass: n64covers

You don't need a login to view any images, only to upload. You must login (link in upper right) to upload new images.

How do I turn my scans into covers?

We are keeping the horizontal orientation of the original boxes to a) keep the original art as perfectly as possible and b) make it much easier to complete this project. The spines will still look normal when the games are all lined up on your shelf.

UPDATE: Slash has created an excellent guide for converting raw scans to finished covers. Download it here (www.ukbeats.com/N64_guide.zip) (13 Mb)

The final dimensions are (in pixels at 300 DPI):

Front, Back:
1536 wide, 2100 tall

Spine:
294 wide, 2100 tall

Total:
3366 wide, 2100 tall

Red N64 Spine Logo:
294 wide, 384 tall

boxart spine image without logo:
294 wide, 1716 tall

The official spine logo (so that the red bar from the front and back will wrap all the way around):
http://img160.echo.cx/my.php?image=n64spinelogo9lu.jpg

Also, we have decided to use a vertical N64 logo (as noted above, created by slash000) instead of the normal one from the original box tops/spines. Thus, the scan for the top needs to be cropped to remove the original N64 logo. slash000 has also provided these handy tips for getting the correct ratio after cropping and resizing:

If you crop the top and bottom of the scanned spine box-art just a tad, then when you resize it to the pixel dimensions of the case covers they come out at the right proportion. Check this out:

The original spine art:
http://img173.echo.cx/img173/724/spine18fa.jpg

The original idea was to crop the spine art like this:
http://img173.echo.cx/img173/7441/spine23ir.jpg

The result was that when resized for the case spine's dimensions, it squeezed it inwards a little bit.

However, if you crop the spine art just a little bit more inward to the art, you can resize it to fit the spines and the result is the spine art is the right ratio. Crop like this:
http://img173.echo.cx/img173/8636/spine30fg.jpg

And you get good-looking spines.

A small update:

My DSL service at home was activated yesterday...but I still haven't gotten the damn modem >.< I'm going to call Verizon after work, so I'm *hoping* by Monday I'll be online.

Once I finish this post, I'm going to tally up all of the requests and see who wants what. If there's enough demand, I might order an extra set of 100 just to split up among the people that don't get one from the original order.

I'll update everyone as soon as I can!

Update: Total demand (including bumping my own up to 20) only reaches 138. Right now, that's not enough to get me to order 200. If demand gets up to around 170 or so, I'll think about getting the second order.

Would someone be kind enough to post this on the Snackbar forums and the SNES game case project thread, as Backlash mentioned? So much to do, so little time to access the net :-p Thanks!

Oh god, where have you been!? Heh, j/k but seriously, thanks so much! This is exactly what is needed to get this thing back off the ground!

I see you even have South Park Rally so I can redo that horrible hand-made one I did.

Of course, the spines won't be right :( (unless you can scan spines in?) But still, much better than nothing!

Thank You, I have been looking for Doom 64 Cover Art for ages, and now I have it, I think I can make a custom spine for my case though. Now I only have two more games to find covers for, Aerogauge and Vigilatie 8. Thanks again.

For all of your loose cartidges you can buy these cases for them and you download and print these covers off and put them in the sleeve. Its like dvd cases but they hold n64 cartridges and your printing the cover for them.

Yes I do have them! I scan my images and save originals in PSD file just in case I need to re-work them. I have approx. 24Gigs of material on my back-up HDD. Chance is I may have it.

I will look for the file and will re-post here.

Why I have my site you ask. Well, I was very tired looking at poor quality video game covers, so I decided to start my own. Please spread the word, and let me get some exposure. Unlike any other sites, I fund this project/hobby of mine entirely myself and I do not ask for any donations. I will only do so if I start exceeding my storage and bandwidth limit. Please enjoy!

Visit www.GameScanner.org (http://www.GameScanner.org) for over 7000 video game box art and cover scans!

Must, resist, flaming, noob.

Look at the first page...

Cases are scheduled for delivery today, so I will hopefully be able to get them packaged and ready before I leave tomorrow.

I've approximated shipping, I just added $3 to everyone's total for the cost of box plus shipping. Exceptions are: Demontooth, I added a dollar more for a bigger box; gwing00, you're sending a prepaid Fed Ex label, so I just figured $1.50 for the box; and RockinX, I believe you said you need it shipped to Venezuela, so I've PMed you about shipping costs. Everyone else, total prices are below.

08 - Backlash - $7.88
06 - ryan838 - $6.66
10 - RockinX - PMed
15 - Chargeup45 - $12.15
06 - s1eepinglionhart - $6.66
10 - gwing00 - $7.60
25 - Demontooth - $19.25

Paypal is prefered to prmega@gmail.com. If that's a problem for anyone, let me know. Otherwise, PM me when you make payment, and I plan to get them all shipped no later than December 3rd. Thanks!

Hi PRMega,

Question? What printer are you using and what is the quality of your prints???

Not sure if you're aware, but I'm only selling the empty cases here, with no art or anything. Sadly, my printer isn't that impressive, and my prints don't come out all that well, otherwise I would include artwork.

I do have a question while I'm here though: what does everyone use to print these, program-wise? Trying to get the size right for both these and the GBA-DS project is a pain in the ass...and so is wading through these threads to see if it's already been brought up ;)

I print from Photoshop onto regular 11x14 (legal-size) paper.

I use photo quality paper. You can make your own game template in Photoshop, just measure te box as best as you can (milimiters - metric is more precise than inches). I use a $99 lexmark printer (configured properly) and you could be surprised at the quality you can get.

Or strike a deal with local print shop. I get 100prints (laser color) for $14.99.

Yeah, the guy who was hosting the raw scans (and the list) has been kind of MIA. This project has kind of died since he and slash have gone, unfortunately.

I did find a scan for South Park Rally, so I'll try to make that cover once I get some time.

In the first post of this thread, there is a link to ukbeats.com for the finished scans which is no longer valid. Is there another link to go to for them besides Snackbar-Games?

On a more N64 note..... even though I dont have access to mediashelving boxes ..... they dont ship to New Zealand :-( .....

I have taken Gamescanners [ Great site BTW ] Wave Race and Doom 64 pics and scanned my boxed spines to create covers for these. And also adjusted his Starcraft to create a box for that one.
Additionally, I have scanned my mint Buck Bumble PAL box and created a cover for that and have several others like Penny Racers and Top Gear Overdrive to do as well.

Where can I upload them though? Snackbar is dead in the water for me at present.

http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/2646/shadowman4tt.th.jpg (http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shadowman4tt.jpg)

Took a bit of editing on spine as box is creased. Also the rear of the box has a lot of marks on Gamescanners copy in the red blurb so I found an identical one on Amorines cover on Snackbar and pasted that one in for better consistency. Still a few little errors but as I dont have the plastic boxes I'll leave it to you guys to touch up as you desire.

Note the size on Imageshack is quite small to get it under 1mb. My original is 5mb.

I think someone mentioned earlier Snackbar is dead re uploads otherwise I would've put them there.

If someone has an FTP server that everyone can get the files from I'm happy to upload the full size versions of the files there.

Why my last? Well ...... it takes time and effort to get these looking as good as possible. And until I can get the boxes myself the results are of no use to me.
I am trying to source them however so depending on whether I'm successful or not I may end up doing some more at that time. Never say never eh ......

What do I still have that hasn't been done yet?

Snowboarding Kids, Top Gear Overdrive, Hexen, Operation Winback, Pilotwings, Mission Impossible, Blast Corps, F1 World Grand Prix, Quake II, S.C.A.R.S ....

and am waiting on delivery of NHL Breakaway98, NFL Quarterback Club 98 & 99, NBA Jam 99, World Cup 98, Allstar Baseball 99 & Fighters Destiny.

Wow thanks TheValeman! You've breathed some new life into a dying project.

I recently made a cover for South Park Rally based on the Gamescanners scans, but for some reason they seemed way out of proportion to the size needed for the Mediashelving cases. So I ended up cropping the front and having to add extra pixels to the back to get it to fit - yuck. If anyone's desperate for this one I'll upload it, but it's not my proudest work.

No worries :)

Like I said.....I dont have access to the boxes so it makes it difficult to get motivated.

As far as the sizing of gamescanners files go...they are perfect ratio to the boxes themselves...it's the mediashelving box that has the odd shape. I resize the file...even my own scanned ones to the size as per instructions and viola...they look ok
If you can post the image of the box spine I'll have a go with Gamescanners front/backs and see what we get. Make sure your spine is scanned at 300dpi though. Image shack it and give us the link .

My PAL box is the same as the the NTSC one. That's why I was able to get a scan of the spine to complete the Gamescanner box. :)

The black border covers were subsequent re-release boxes in Europe which found their way to Australia/New Zealand late in the N64's life. I dont have many which the black border and old artwork. I have over forty boxes personally....only one like that from memory....although I cant be sure until I'm back home.

If anyone is interested in having the box art inserts that are available for download printed out but don't have the resources to do it I'm offering a print service at a cost of $0.35 per insert plus a small S&H fee. I can print them out on a thin, glossy cardstock that will hold up better than paper. The printer I use is a high end commercial grade color laser that's as big as a washing machine, no kidding, and it does an incredible job. The only thing I ask is that you order a minimum of two inserts because the sheets I use are 12" x 18" and this will help prevent wasting the cardstock. I've already printed a sample using Super Mario RPG Legend Of The Seven Stars and it turned out great.

Here's a pic of one of the Mario RPG inserts that I printed, sorry about the light glare on the bottom section. Like I mentioned before, these are printed on thin, glossy cardstock instead of paper. If anyone's interested I'll need a list of what you want and your shipping address to send you a grand total.

Alright, I just want Mario64 and MarioKart64. I also need 2 cases please XD.
Also, are you gonna give them to use like that, or are they already cut? If your gonna cut them, do a good job please.

Sorry but I'm only selling the insert copies, not cases. They will be sent similar to what you see in the pic so the buyer will have to do the cutting.

Ive been looking for something to keep my games in for years and a google search turned up this thread. Im in England which makes it a bit more difficult to get the cases, could someone who has bought 100 please estimate the weight, im hoping a friend in texas will be able to order some and then ship them over for me.

I dont suppose there will be much interest but i have a few english boxes that i can scan and i also found this site which might help to provide a cover for games that boxes havent been found for, I could help out with editing if nessecary.

This seems like a great site btw, its nice to find that other people are still interested in the old consoles.

Thanks - James :)

Thanks, that would be great.

I did some boxes for my dc games a couple of years ago to replace the standard boxes that seem to always be broken. The covers were pretty basic but they look quite neat, has anyone got a worms armageddon n64 box?

Thanks, they are pretty simple, my photoshopping skills were poor back then, i have still got the case covers saved as jpegs somewhere. most of them were just a scan of the original cover but a few like the looney tunes one were a bit more customised.

sorry for hijacking the thread.

I found this site and the snackbar forum via google. And waht an awesome site this is. I have so many loose games that i can store properly now thanks to all your contributions. I live in Germany so i don't have access to those mediashelving cases but i have cases that are similar in size so i can use the covers. Thanks to the efforts of all you people i have covers for all my games now, all but 16.
My problem is that I suck big time at photoshop or gfx programs in general, so you guys are my last hope.
The covers I'm missing are:
DAIKATANA, DUKE NUKEM 64, DUKE NUKEM ZERO HOUR, EARTHWORM JIM 3D, EXTREME G2. FORSAKEN, HEXEN, MACE THE DARK AGE, MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY, QUAKE, QUAKE2, RIDGE RACER 64, TUROK, WIPEOUT, WRESTLEMANIA 2000 and WWF NO MERCY

Some of them are up on gamescanners but as I said my photoshop skills are baaaad. I know I'm not the only one here in need of covers so I'll take anything. PAL, NTSC, custom made covers, just about anything to finally complete my collection. Maybe someone could make a template for photoshop where you'd just have to insert the pictures for back, front and spine

Again thanks to all of you for what you've done already and thanks in advance. I hope I was not to rude making such a big request in my very forst post :)

I just love SNK. All their characters just have so much style, so much more than the ones CAPCOM has come up with. And Rugal is one of my alltime favourites and probably one of the best character designs ever along with Yamazaki, Vanessa, Iori and B. Jenet.
Coming from Germany I thought about a Wolgang Krauser avatar along with the name BlitzBALL but Rugal looks just so much better :D

Yeah, SNK's characters have always had a better personality compared Capcom's. Most of Capcom's characters seem really cut and dry, or just outlandish stereotypes(Dhalsim?).

Here are some raw scans of Goemon's Great Adventure I just did. They have some rental stickers on the front too, so it'll need some slight editing.

which is real rough and ready. Sure someone else can do better but it suits my purposes....so thanks for that.
You're the only other person to contribute lately so hats off to you.

Last post of a box scan from me. Cant be blowed uploading it to Snackbar so everyone will have to take to lo-res imageshack one.....or......make their own. Nevermind the 18 mint boxes for games not on Snackbar that I bought at auction specifically for this forum......oh well

I'm sure everyone appreciates your work - I know I do. I don't happen to need any of the ones you've got, but just adding to the collection is great.

I made several covers earlier when we were still getting raw scans from people, but there's not much to do without scans. Also, my Photoshop skills are pretty bad. This project really slowed down when the ftp site with the scans went down. :(

My N64 collection is about 90% loose carst, so I don't have many boxes to scan. I'm just now getting back up on my feet after foot surgery, so I will go into the dungeon to see how many boxes I can scan.

Oh, and I haven't heard from mediashelving.com about my order. Their ordering system sucks. I guess I'll have to use the phone to find out what's going on.

Schenley

OK, here are the covers that I have.

Conker's Bad Fur Day
Donkey Kong 64 (bad shape)
Goldeneye 007
Knockout Kings 2000
Madden 99
NHL Breakaway 98
NHL 99
Perfect Dark
Rampage 2 Universal Tour
Resident Evil 2

I'll take requests on those.

I'm assuming you have to disassemble the box to scan it. Is is possible to get the box back together 100% after scanning?

Does anyone have access to the original list (http://www.ukbeats.com/n64list.htm) and can update it to reflect what we have now?

Also, I just called mediashelving, and my order is on back order for at least another week. Maybe it's because of this thread? 8-)

TheValeman

I dont take my boxes apart. I just scan them by folding them flat so the front shows one spine. See Gamescanners site....specifically the Starcraft or World cup 98 scans for the idea.

Boxes I still had to do included

All-Star Baseball 99
Blast Corps
Body Harvest PAL
F1 World Grand Prix
Fighters Destiny
Hexen
NBA Jam 99
NFL Quarterback Club 98
NFL Quarterback Club 99
NHL Breakaway 98
Operation Winback
Snowboard Kids
World Cup 98 PAL
WWF Warzone PAL

A lot of the above were boxes only bought at auction for this forum. I dont even have the cartridges.. or even like sports games for that matter

Batman Returns....also on his site with the spine.

I haven't uploaded them to Snackbar....Snowcone hasn't made any of my other ones available yet so it seems pointless at the present time.

Here's a challenge to you guys. Does anyone have access to boxes and can scan the spines only for Gamescanners boxes? They can be from hired game boxes..... we just need the spines to complete a whole bunch of these boxes ..... or we're left with lots of boxes like this .......

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/9526/007worldisnotenough9tm.th.jpg (http://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=007worldisnotenough9tm.jpg)

I had to resort to making custom spines for several of the covers I made. If you look at the one on snackbar for Space Invaders, I found some very low DPI images of the front and back via Google, blew them up to the correct size (hello pixelation) and then made the spine from scratch to sort of match the front cover. Yucky but better than a box with no cover.

Looking at your boxes we could do with:

Knockout Kings 2000 - Front, Back & Spine
Madden 99 - Spine only [ Front,Back on Gamescanners ]
NHL 99 - Front, Back & Spine

The rest have been done other than NHL Breakaway 98 which I have so if you can scan those at 300dpi and get me them I'll contribute my NHL box scan.
