Fantastic.

I wondered about that. Let us know your impressions of the game as I've never even seen it down under. Yeah ... I noticed it didn't have PAYPAL which is why it put me out of the bidding. Hence putting the link on the forum in case someone was interested.

Cool. Definitely let us know how it is, as I've always wondered. Did you ever play the original (on NES)?

Actually, the money order thing may work out, as I am also watching a "Batman the Animated Series - Volume One " DVD set that's insanely cheap, and the guy only takes money orders as well. So, I'll just kill 2 birds with one stone tomorrow.

Excellent. Well ...... I don't know what you're bidding on ..... but hey ...... it sounds good

Seriously though .... great work securing Shadowgate 64.

I'm working with another member here to try and secure a copy of Battle Zone so could everyone here make sure they dont bid on

please so we can keep the price down as low as possible. We already have the box coming seperately to complete it. If anyone has the game cart and needs a manual let me know and if we win it I'll pdf it for the cause along with converting the box scan. Hopefully that'll knock another one off the list :)

Awesome SMMM! I was going to bid on it once I got home today, but the auction ended. Still, I am glad that someone got the game for this project.

A little eBay secret is that you can make a good deal with an item on ebay if the person does not use PayPal.

Good luck on the Battle Zone game, but it was a really bad game.

Looking around on eBay I discovered a very rare developer cart of Bust-A-Move - This is really cool!

Man you find some weird crap :D

Dunno what they'll do for the covers cause but still .... bragging rights I suppose. I saw a dev SF 2049 PAL cart on EBAY UK as well. Bleeding ugly aren't they. Gives yer N64 a dang seedy look from a distance if yer drunk I bet!!!

Why was Battlezone crap? I love the PC versions. I want it just because it's available for N64. People say the same about Hydro Thunder too and I enjoy that one so different strokes for different folks I guess.

Hey ... look at Backlash. He bought Midway Arcade Hits ...... ROFL

EDIT. Holy crap ..... IGN's review gave Battle Zone 3.9 out of 10. Then I see Gamespot gave it 7.3 out of 10. Geez .... who do you believe?
Maybe Backlash got the better game after all. Man .... having to admit that. Oh the pain ...the pain!!!

Oh well ..... if I get it for $2.00 it wont be too big a burden.

NHL 99 is already on Snack-bar .... is that different to NHL Breakaway 99? American Sport games are so confusing being named so similar

Yea, the breakaway series is different than the NHL series.

I'm trying to avoid PAL version covers if possible. ;-)

I'll scan it tomorrow and put it up somewhere...

I'm uploading NHL Breakaway 98 raw scans now.

They are bigger than my previous files. I scanned at 600 dpi. I'm guessing that last time I did them at 300 dpi. What's easiest for you?

Nah!! What's 15mb's per scan between friends? :)

I'll download them, convert the cover and resize to 300dpi to get a cover that can be upped to Snack-bar. They drop their drawers when a file exceeds approx 6.5mbs so I have to downsize to 300dpi anyway.

EDIT. Got them .....

So, I'm better off scanning at 300, right?

I'm deleting them from my server space...

Yep .... the front page instructions refer to 300dpi. Mainly because that's the common print rez and also because file sizes are insane with 600dpi.

Hehe .... makes for a good piccie though if you have the space to store it.

I'll resize it within Paintshop so dont bother re-scanning unless I have an issue.

Nice scans BTW .... very nice indeed. Just cleaning up a few faint cuts type issues etc and should be good to go. The backs interesting in that the red sidebar is prefectly square but writing in the centre isn't but the picture framing on the right as almost plumb. Has the box got a inward curve? I'll probably run with the sidebar being straight I think

EDIT. After consideration I adjusted my thinking and this is the result of Schenley's execellent scans

I have a mint copy of Shadowgate 64 that I can scan in. This project is awesome... exactly what I've been looking for as a storage solution for all of my N64 games. Anything like this for SNES games?

I'll read the beginning of this thread and figure out what to scan and then post it ASAP. I'll search through storage and see what else I can help out with.

The inward curve on NHL Breakaway was probably because I didn't put pressure on the scanner cover - I usually try to hold it down as it's scanning. I guess I forgot on the back. Sorry. Let me know if you want it redone...

Oh, and speaking of shrinkwrapped games - I opened up about 4 that I had to put em in these spanking cases!

I hear that. But honestly....who would've thought someone would stumble onto our forum and the ONLY box they have is Shadowgate 64?

Cmon .... I hadn't even heard of it till 2 months ago. And as far as Blast Corps is concerned .... I did put it up ages ago on that message. Mine's part of a 10 game pack and the pic was ropey at best so I really have no idea if it's good enough to be bothered attempting to convert until I get it. That's why I haven't done Waialae Country Golf ..... it's pretty average so I'm mulling whether it's worth having a go at present.

Still.... look at the strides made since December 05 when total scanned stood at 22%. Now it's 57% so all things considered we're doing well.

Blue's Brother's ..... bet it's a shite game. Still .... the box is mint...hehe

This will be more work for 4tygames, but would you be willing to update the list and put "pending" or something whenever someone on this thead mentioned that they won an auction or otherwise has a box coming? That might help cut down on buying dupes.

That said, owning Shadowgate 64 is probably a good thing just to play it!

Yep ..... and what would be even better is if we could get write access to that one field so as we win/purchase a game we could tick that box ourselves so it didn't put extra pressure on 4tygames. The rest could stay read only so some fekker didn't delete stuff wholesale or something equally undesirable.

Any chance of that?

When you scan them don't let the scanner auto edge them..do it manually and allow a bit of excess around the outside as it makes it easier doing a rotate to straighten everything.

Interestingly I remembered that Imagscanner had 300dpi front and rears and just need the spine and this is the result of combining your spine.....

Looks good to me! But then, I don't have that cart... :D

Me neither.....

I just won Rugrats - Scavenger Hunt (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8280915646) to go with the PAL version I scanned so that'll complete that particular game when it arrives.
I'm also after Chameleon Twist 2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8281155641&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BID_IT) from the same seller. Maybe a couple more too !!! OK .... try several more ....

Yeah ... I know ... I'll be paying the VISA off for a while to come with all this.

Man .... I need some more plastic boxes too. When it rain's it pours eh. What to get ....games? or boxes? or colour laser toner so I can print covers for the one's I already have?

EDIT. Got Micro Machines. I see the problem. I'll probably go with the Green spine as it doesn't have that window. As far as the front is concerned maybe the best thing is to put a colour into it .... like yellow or red ... or put a tasteful pic of a nude woman sunbathing on a pacific island inside it? :D

Okay ..... I've cleaned the scan Schenley provided for Micro Machines and this is what I've come up with ......

http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/9743/micromachinessmall7gp.th.jpg (http://img157.imageshack.us/my.php?image=micromachinessmall7gp.jpg)

I've left the window as is being that it's authentic to the original box and I hate deviating into custom covers .... no offense to others who like that sort of thing .... I just prefer authentic as much as possible.
Is it ok to upload to Snack-bar?

Schenley
05-06-2006, 01:41 PM
I personally prefer the blue/purple spines to the green. But, in this case I know why you did it... That starburst is screwin up everything!

As for the starburst up top, I would only say to take out the shiny highlights from the plastic - so that the whole thing looks uniform. This shouldn't take to long in Photoshop.

I agree, to not mess with the originals as much as possible. But sometimes, you gotta do a little.

I'll be scanning more later during the Devils game!! :applause:

All this work with these boxes has me wondering. Anyone know why there are two different types of inserts to hold the carts? You have the one that is 'built in' to the outside box, and the other one can be removed.

There has to be a reason - anyone know why?

I think the games with built in inserts came along a lot later in the N64's life time than boxes with the original inserts and was probably done on costs. Notice that the cardboard is thinner too and they buckle easier than the old boxes.

Holy cow Schenley .... it's gonna take me a lit bit to wade thru all those scans of yours. If you look at your Micro Machines scan vs my conversion you'll find a lot of creases, scratches cleaned up and that takes time. But I'm on it :D

Never having seen a Jaguar cart I dont know what the size is but look at it like this ..... if the cart is the same size or less [including depth] than a SNES cart chances are it'll fit but will probably rattle around as the case has special tabs to keep N64 & SNES and Genesis carts in place. Hope that helps somewhat ....

The carts fit in vertically, and are loose. When you close the cover, the curvature of the cart holds it in place and it doesn't move around.

Short story - yes, they fit.

I have a handful of loose Jag carts, so will probably look for, or start a cover project for that soon.

Do you guys still need Shadowgate 64? Just recieved it in the mail today.

Yep .... the other dude hasn't scanned or uploaded it yet. Mind you .... I couldn't upload to UKBeats so maybe that's the problem. Dunno .... Nate?

Schenley .... I'll grab Battlezone right now and have a go. I saw another Battlezone box for sale and that was sun faded too. Seems to be common with this game. So bad it never flew off the shop shelve's eh?

Okay .... I've had a play with the colours on Battle Zone and come up with ......

http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/6438/battlezonefronttestsmall9qo.th.jpg (http://img463.imageshack.us/my.php?image=battlezonefronttestsmall9qo.jpg)

The main problem is that different colours fade at different rates making a global adjustment finicky to say the least ... but then I'm no graphic artist so I may be wrong. I think the orange and reds are looking close at a cost to the blue but by and large looks good. The yellow we can take for the logo from another cover and overlay it so I'm not too concerned there.

Any comments on this? Shame about that big ass B sticker on the front sidebar. Any chance of getting it off without damaging the cover Schenley?

Wow, that is not that bad. The original cover looks like this. (http://images.auctionworks.com/hi/70/70250/Battlezone64RiseoftheBla7_f.jpg)

That box really must have been faded.

Ok, I have been messing around with the box a little bit in photoshop. I can copy the colors off of one picture of the box off the Internet and try to match it with the faded box. The results were really impressive for 30 seconds.

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2289/battlezonefronttestsmall9qo7rh.jpg

In that amount of time, I was able to get the lettering of Battle Zone to its original color and the Crave Logo to its original color. The other messed up areas are just to show what color it should be. I know we can unfade this box, but it is going to take hard work.

Just an update on where I'm at with Schenley's box scans.........

I have gone thru and assessed them to determine which spines require the least effort to clean up .... sorry Schen but there are some green spines coming .... yeah yeah .... I know yah like the purple jobbies :)

I have started cleaning up several of them, removing scan specks, creases and so forth in preparation for merging into the finished covers. That Battlezone colour sidetracked me a bit .... I like a challenge but am now waiting on your attempts at removing the sticker before going any further .... and I received Robotron 64 PAL which I have put up for sale so I've quickly scanned that one too.

So bear with me and when I've got a few ready to go I'll upload them in bulk for everyone. That includes SMMM's Shadowgate 64. Looks like a game well worth playing. Had a play with it SMMM?

So there you have it on where I'm currently at. Oh .... and I'm negotiating on purchasing Daikatana boxed currently from a local source.More on that as it develops.

Whats up with Snowcone? On holiday or something?

Covers are already created at 300dpi but I just import it into MS Word and size it manually. Cant remember the exact size as I'm at work but it was something like 188 by 288 or 180 by 280 ....something like that and they fit perfectly. Just open a box and measure edge to edge and you'll see what I mean.

I did that way as we use A4 here...not US Legal or letter.

I use Photoshop to print, and check the size in inches. They are 7" x 11.22". I don't mess with the DPI, if the width is not 7", I just adjust it so it is. The length is automatically adjusted.

I created the controller pak cover for you... just waiting on Snowcone getting back from holiday. If you want it quicker I can upload the full version to my Box.net dir. See you can share boxnet directories with anyone now? They dont need to be boxnet users. Good eh..

So I'll update the cart label scans soon as I now have some 45 US games to archive labels for.

Still working on Schenley's scans. Slow going as the sports ones have artwork with lines which take a bit of work when cleaning up. If I dont worry about slight blemishes it would certainly make it easier and faster.

valeman what is the currency exchange rate for USD to whatever they use in your country?

Nate

Hehe .... really bad.

At present my $1.00 gets approximately 60c US. I've been allowing for that buying games but the postage is the killer as it's a minimum $10.00 US per game which adds up to $14-$15 NZ extra depending on currency fluctuations ....effectively doubling the price of a game purchase. So I've been buying multiple games from a single source to try and get a price break on the postage. Isn't much but it helps ....

Heres my latest news ...

I'm still waiting on a shipment of 10 games with console ... the dude shipped it surface so it 5 - 6 weeks getting here ... geez. I have received and still have the following to convert

Rugrats Scavenger Hunt - Mint condition ... already scanned ... DONE!!!!
All-star Baseball 99 - Needs a bit of work ... already scanned ... DONE!!!!

MRC Multi Racing Championship ... waiting on arrival
Wheel of Fortune ... ditto
NFL Quarterback Club 99 ... ditto
Blast Corps ... ditto

Of the other six 3 of them have now been scanned and converted from submissions made after I purchased them .... thanks to the surface mail delays ... sigh. So I know how SMMM feels...... I thought I was getting 7 games towards the project. Oh well .... since I started it's gone from 22% to 60% scanned so I dont feel too bad :)

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll try get those 2 games up sometime this weekend along with Schenley's and SMMM's Shadowgate so I can get them out of my hair.

The N64 logo looks really off...

Indeed .... What was it scanned off?

Anyway... not the reason I posted. This is .......

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/2667/allstarbaseball99small9yr.th.jpg (http://img239.imageshack.us/my.php?image=allstarbaseball99small9yr.jpg)
All-Star Baseball 99 to complement my PAL version.

Another game that can now be marked off as Complete. Gotta keep 4tygames occupied eh :)

EDIT. Here's Schenley's FIFA 98 - Road to World Cup. Fair amount of work required on these sport game covers........

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/5641/fifa98small0ue.th.jpg (http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fifa98small0ue.jpg)

Another of Schenley's ....... NBA Courtside [Kobe Bryant in] .... Not a good cover. Lots of scratches, wear and tear etc ....

http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/6499/nbacourtsidesmall7gv.th.jpg (http://img49.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nbacourtsidesmall7gv.jpg)

Here's Insano16's Elmo's Number Journey. Scan was lopsided somewhat so trimmed to get correct look and fair bit of editing around rear sidebar.

http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4914/snumberjourney9bb.th.jpg (http://img64.imageshack.us/my.php?image=snumberjourney9bb.jpg)

Forgot Completely about this one but here's the better quality PAL version of San Francisco Rush - Extreme Racing. Note the much better colour on the rear compared to my first version.

http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/8373/sanfranciscorushextremeracings.th.jpg (http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sanfranciscorushextremeracings.jpg)

I am bidding on a US version of this game at present as I noticed we only have my PAL version to date. Hoping it wont set me back too much!! Absolutely the ONLY reason I'm bidding on this is because someone local is selling it. EBAY is 100% off-limits at present.

Here's SMMM's Shadowgate 64 ....

Major Score!

Allright, boys... I hit my favorite store (http://www.digitpress.com/store) again yesterday.

Here's what I'll be scanning over the next week or so...

Ms. Pac-Man (a little beat up)
Bust a Move 2 ( a little faded)
Deadly Arts
Iggy's Reckin Balls
Disney's Tarzan
Wetrix
Starshot (!!!)

NFL Blitz Special Edition
Virtual Chess 64
Lego Racers
Virtual Pool
Transmetals - Beast Wars
Re-Volt
Tonic Trouble
Xena Warrior Princess
Hercules

The top list I got boxes only, the bottom list I bought complete games. Let me know if someone's looking for any of these, and I'll prioritize them. Also, let me know if any of these are in the works, and I won't bother scanning. I checked the list and all of these were needed.

Still on track with SF Rush Extreme Racing though ....Yea, I had Daikatana in my hands on Saturday, but the box was kinda beat up and it had two huge Blockbuster stickers on it that looked like they were 15 years old. Those were the stickers with the metal strip running through em. I decided to pass on it.

Can you also confirm that you think the front of Starshot is faded? I think it is .... although my laptop screen is shitty for this stuff... but I think the colour is muted compared to screenshots I've seen. It should already be marked as Pending as I am waiting on it arriving in my surface shipment. Five weeks and climbing....sheesh!!!

The colour just looks washed compared to the rear of that Starshot box....Interesting. Ill research it up a little .... keep you posted...

Alrighty .... I looked at the stock photo on EBAY for this title and it's much more yellow and vibrant. So ... I've played around with the colour balance and come up with .....

Bad news is that Wetrix and any newer covers aren't up there in this update. So I'm keeping them on my boxnet site until they do for those of you who needed them yesterday.:)

Even worse news in my mind though is that he didn't replace the existing color faded San Francisco Rush - Extreme Racing with my better one. This also happened with WWF Attitude which I upped a mint condition version to replace the low quality one submitted by Slash000.

So in my mind there's no point anyone buying Space Invaders for instance unless you make it available on an alternate site as Snowcone obviously doesn't read the description or compare old with new.... he appears to just dump newer files if he thinks we already have it.

I PM'd him about the WWF Attitude game when I submitted it and got no answer back.

A couple of months ago I replaced the Indiana Jones: Infernal Machine cover with one that did not have a big blockbuster sticker on the back and that one was uploaded.

It seems like only 20 covers were uploaded and I know there were a lot more finished for this and other systems because I know SMMM was trying to get Snowcone to put up a Sega Saturn section for the 15+ covers he created.

Oh yeah, the 1080 cover still isn't on Snackbar yet, but Nate's website has it.

OK, Earthworm Jim got a little messed up with a sticker removal. Not sure why, I've used the same technique 25 times without a problem. There's a white spot on the right between the logo and the joypad icon. I'm sure that would be easy to fix, though. I also left a sticker on that I thought should stay. It's an official sticker from Rockstar that says "Free Pager Offer" - I think it's kind of a sign of the times - who would want a pager these days?

By the way, the icon in the lower left is not a sticker.

Also, I upped Rampage World Tour - it's pending on the 4ty list, but I forget if it was pending from me or not.

Come on now, give a guy a break. I have the SFRush ready to replace the faded one, but hadn't had a chance to compare. I get tons of duplicate covers so sometimes it is hard to tell what the reason is. Send me the other 2 and I will get them fixed as well. I haven't been around as I have been planning the migration of the snackbar site as well as my movie site to a new webhost. I finished that migration today and even had time to recode the Cover page so it's a little easier to use. I also posted some pending Saturn covers. It is also a little easier to drop me an email at snowcone@snackbar-games.com to remind me or notify me of updates. I don't get to CAG near as often as I used to. That may change very soon though.

Seriously though .... I know you have been migrating and all that but

1. I add an appended description to the game so you can tell that it's mean to replace an existing cover.

3. You never show yourself around here that much any more yet you post daily on Snack-bar.

In light of the above sometimes I get the impression that maybe NDS and GBA are more interesting for you than the N64 at this time. I wouldn't blame you ... N64's been dead for years after all ... but the lack of posting here by you gives us absolutely no info on your current status etc. It's not a gripe ... just how I see it.

Anyways ..... good to see you posting here again ... even if just to have a piece of me :D

If you want I'll re-upload WWF Attitude for you to look at. The list said we needed a better version and I got a shrinkwrapped mint one so that's where it comes from.
Additionally ..... the WWF Warzone PAL by Slash000 is an absolute shocker. The text on the back is hand editted in some places and blurred beyond readable in others. Have a look. It may pay to delete that and leave my US mint one until we can rustle up a proper PAL version of that one.
Lastly ..... can you shift my Legend of Zelda AU import sitting in the letter "L" to the "T" dir so that it sits with all the other Zelda games? Although personally I think the "The" should be dropped from the other Zelda games and those shifted to "L"

I appreciate the description you put in that filename as it does help. The reason I post occasionally and daily on SB is that I am the main Admin and Mod. I apologize if you get the impression that I don't value the N64 covers. I think it's great that you guys are still doing them and I think it's a great resource for the gaming community to have access to them. The reality is that I have yet to print out a single cover for any of my games on any system. That being said, a quick email keeps me honest. I am probably changing jobs again soon so I may have a little more free time.

If you find a problem with any of the existing covers please let me know so we can get them fixed. Also, like was already mentioned, if you find a problem with the page itself let me know and i'll get it fixed as quickly as possible. If you have suggestions as well let me know. I want that page to be as easy to use as possible so I am open to feedback. I want to add a small set of FAQs if any of you are up to contributing. Here are the topics I'd like to cover:

-Creating covers (Maybe one for each platform)
-Printing covers
-Obtaining cases

Any takers?

Just do what Snowcone says and upload it again. I'm sure it's just MIA so if you resubmit it all will be good.

I'll resubmit my WWF Attitde too and then all will be well in N64-Land again

Now that he's done the migration etc I'm sure things will be a lot smoother. And we have his email addy to keep him honest :)

The OP has a doc (written by slash) that has instructions for creating covers for N64. I assume that you just want content and you'll take care of HTML yourself since it's specific to your site? If so, it should be pretty much good to go, though the images could probably be compressed a bunch to make it more palatable (the Word doc is like 13 Mb I think).

It's written for N64, but of course the dimensions and general process are for the Media shelving cases so the generic parts could be pulled out and used for SNES, Genesis, etc. Feel free to use any of the text in the OP as well, of course.

Edit: Here's the link: http://www.ukbeats.com/N64_guide.zip

So Tarzan and all the latest are now available.

Additionally ... my San Francisco Rush Extreme Racing PAL replacement is now is now up. All it needs now is for the existing one to be deleted and the new one renamed as PAL if you're listening Snowcone.

Excellent work with the recode. Is it just me or does it seem snappier. I can tell you the uploading is far quicker ... it used to hang for minutes after the upload ... now it quickly returns to the"what do you want to do" screen. When you upload the amount I do you can tell ... believe me.

On a side issue .... I know the Tonic Trouble cover is sun faded .... mainly where the color Yellow is concerned. You can tell when you look at Schenley's original scan where the color was protected by a label and the yellow is much more vibrant. But I thought it easer to patch that into the main bulk rather than the other way around and as some glues affect color without another sample to color match it to I held off. If someone wants to color it to their tastes go for it ... I probably will if I ever get the game.

Does anyone here have a mint manual for Diddy Kong Racing? If you do and have a scanner could you can the front & back cover @ 300dpi for me? My manual is missing them. Let me know if you can help.

Cheers

replacementdocs.com was the one I was thinking of - thanks.

A lot of the pdf's on those sites are low quality where people have used 75dpi etc when converting them to keep the size down. Also some look crappy because they didn't straighten he scans before converting so although it's good to have them I decided long ago I'd convert my own as I got the time.

I have 15-20 odd done at 300 dpi from memory and as I get time where I'm not converting cover scans .... thanks Schenley for that huge lot the other day :) ... I'll keep converting the ones I have.

Excellent.

Two things ..... The Genesis section goes nowhere and is it possible to state how many covers are available when you enter a section? Eg, when entering the N64 section it would say "viewing - 200 covers" or something like that?

With all the new sections like PS1, Saturn and so on it'll give casual users a much better idea of the depth of whats available without having to click thru every letter.

Just a thought .. that's all.

1. Oops ... although not going anywhere I couldn't tell

Hey ... didn't you order some games a while back ... before Shadowgate 64? Did they ever arrive? I know you were apprehensive after a week or two.

I'm still waiting on my surface shipment. USPS advise up to 2 months to get to New Zealand. It's almost that now so I'm getting a tad bit frustrated.

I'm slowly progressing my Visa bill ... only $300 left to pay now :D Doesn't help buying the occasional game locally.... I got that San Francisco Rush Extreme US version to supplement my PAL copy. When it arrives I'll up it....

Yeah, they never showed up. It was only like $9 though, so meh. Plus, you already have all the ones I ordered now.

I know what its like. Had 3 games never arrive from the UK. All have from the US so far .... just that biggie now.

I found it great getting games off EBAY..... but ..... Pick up a game for $5.00 only the postage to NZ is $11+. That makes it $16 approx .... then add the exchange rate and it's gone to $25 local currency for the game which is close to the average price for a PAL game. So it's easy to see where those 70 odd games I bought for converting covers blew out my Visa bill. Luckily selling off my PAL games reduced it to $400 which is now down somewhat.

You guys in the US have a good thing with EBAY simply because you're dealing with local currency. It's the postage & conversion that hits me where it hurts. I suppose that's why I got a tad miffed a while ago as it seems so easy/cheap for you guys to grab one game every so often to progress the cause.

So its great that you and Schen decided to help out. But its a bugger when the game doesn't arrive eh.......

@Cochese: I might be purchasing another 100 - I'm almost out of my first 100. PM me and we'll work something out.

@Snowcone: Thanks for all your work! The new changes are great. However, my one suggestion still didn't make it: On the main home page, I thinkg the clickable link up top that says GBA Covers should say Covers.

@Valeman: No problem - I realize how much time you are spending on this, and I appreciate it! It's OK to take a week off here and there! Although, I think you're nuts for installing Vista at this point! Also, I noticed a boo-boo in the snackbar covers. For NHL Breakway'98 - which you credited to me, BTW, is less than half the size that it should be. I think it makes me look like a tool.

And, after several rounds of buying, scanning and printing covers, this is now my list of covers that I need. If anyone can help out, it would be greatly appreciated!!

A Bug's Life
Bass Hunter 64
Bottom of the 9th
Duke Nukem 64

Hmmmm....

I think it should stay. Someone can correct me on this, but I think the Blockbuster Exclusive games are more rare because they were only available at Blockbuster - thus raising the value of these games.

And, it's not a sticker - it's printed right on the box.

I just figured out an easy way to print out 4TY's list.

Open the 4tygames list (http://4tygames.googlepages.com/newn64list.htm) in your browser.

Save it as .HTML
Open the .HTML in Excel
Go into File | Page Setup, and click "Fit to:"
After playing around, I think 1 page wide by 4 pages tall works well - but you can experiment.

This is a lot better than trying to print it from the browser.

Thanks again, 4tygames for keeping this list.

N64 List Updated (http://4tygames.googlepages.com/newn64list.htm)

Can't wait for that Rocket: Robot on Wheels! I bought it used a while back and it is one great game!

I also need:
World Championship Driver
Crusin World

I'll be on the lookout for any boxes.4tygames:

I just bought World Championship Driver - so stay tuned.

Also, I noticed on your list that NBA Courtside 2: Featuring Kobe Bryant is not marked as complete. (it should be)

I re-uploaded NHL Breakaway 98 in full size format with wording like .... NHL....- replaces Schenley's pint sized contribution.jpg or something like that :D

So give it a day or so for Snowcone and you can grab the proper one.

I was concerned the minute SMMM posted that link to the boxes that you'd go crazy. Hehe .... looks like I had reason to be concerned. Good on you ... not often we see good condition boxes for games for sale at reasonable prices so it's worth taking advantage of......

I'm out tonight with my Father-in-law [doing the Father-Son thing] so I'll be back onboard tomorrow and hoping to clean out the remainder of Schenley's scans before the next lot are bombarded on me.

Who wanted cases here? Have you been to the Video Shopper site and asked for a quote for delivery of the number you require? I think they dont just ship 100 lots as they sell individually so you can get a quote for delivery of 25 or however many you require. I was going to get 100 sent to New Zealand but the shipping came to $92 .... Holy Hell!!!! So I've put that off at present for obvious reasons..........

Allright, here goes....

Vale - you are right, I went crazy. Here's what I got:

Sorry for the long post - I just cut and pasted from my EBay email...

4tyGames - could you update the list again? :D

Also, a suggestion - could you make the pending games in italics? I sometimes don't look to the last column and end up almost buying something that is pending.

Thanks!!!

Vale: you've got a week or so until the bombardment!

Wow oh wow!!!!

Were you after Tony Hawk Pro Skater for your collection? Just that I upped all three of those game covers a while ago ... #1 & 2 from personal purchases off EBAY and #3 I converted from a contribution on UKBeats site.

Snowcone .... if you read this .... Can you change the Mario Golf cover name from Mario Goldf .... looks like a case of "two keys at same time" when I saved it. Didn't see it when uploading. Man ... that was a while ago now. Amazing that no-one commented on it before now:)

4tygames .... can you remove Star Shot Space Circus Fever from pending as it's on Snack-bar

Cheers!!!

Ok, I am currently making a massive update to the n64 list.

Problem #1

Schenley: You said that NBA Courtside 2 should be marked off as complete. All I see on SnackBar is the NBA Courtside cover to the first game which is represented on the list. I just want some verification before I mark it off as a complete. Thanks for the info! Also, WOW! What a purchase! This takes care of a lot of games! I will also make the Pending games in italics which is a good idea.

If I run into any more problems, I'll let everyone know.

I only buy games that I actually want to play - I'm not really going for a full collection... YET.

By the way, I'll most likely self impose a little break on the buying - for now. I'll be listing most of my covers up on my Ebay store (http://stores.ebay.com/schenleys-stuff), and I'll get new boxes with the (hopeful) profits from those.

Agreed ..... I didn't see anything when converting it to indicate it was game #2. But I ain't up on Sports games per se so I didn't query Schen about it.

And I know what you mean about stopping the purchases .... takes a bit of time to recover eh!!
The wifey's got me screwed down tighter than a nun's ass over the Visa bill at present. Once that's back in the black however, I'll get back to buying a game or two at a time and only getting a new one when the debt is cleared completely.
There are guys here that probably dont have the ability to do what we are doing, eg, buying for the cause .... and that's ok as it's a personal decision on our part to do this .... but there's no need for anyone to get into strife just for N64 covers so take it easy buddy. With this lot you're probably already #2 on the contribution list anyway :applause:

N64 List Updated with all the changes (http://4tygames.googlepages.com/newn64list.htm)

Looking at the list, Schenley's purchase took care of a lot of games.

Schenley: Don't worry about it, I do it all the time :) (look back around page 30 and see where I goofed up on Quake 1 and 2)

TheValeman: Did those game boxes ever come in?

N64 List Updated with all the changes (http://4tygames.googlepages.com/newn64list.htm)

TheValeman: Did those game boxes ever come in?

Do you mean the plastic cases you sent me? If so Yep .... I just have to buy a new cyan toner for my laser printer before I can make covers for them.... hehe.

I spent too much on the N64 games from the USA and screwed my budget so the toner is on the back burner until I'm clear of the debt. And I'm short 30 odd cases as well .... getting those are also back-burnered at present.

If you mean the games marked pending? ... then No ... I'm still waiting on the surface shipment to arrive. Getting near 8 weeks now .... Jeez!!!

Interestingly ... in my pursuit of games we needed covers for I've ended up with lots of games I'll never really play .... and missing some of the classics like Mario64, Banjo Kazooie, Pilot Wings etc that I played all the time when I had PAL versions. So my first priority may be to try and get those again rather than esoteric games just for their boxes. Gotta be able to have some fun with the N64 eh

Gotta be able to have some fun with the N64 eh :roll:I know what you mean! I just last night sat down and said, I've got to play some N64. Me and my buddy played some RidgeRacer, LegoRacers, Re-Volt, Top-Gear, and a couple of other racing games.

That's the first time I've used the system in months.

I do have to say, though, that having the cover at your disposal creates more of a "I want to play this" than just looking at a bunch of loose carts.

TheValeman
06-14-2006, 11:27 PM
I hear that.

I used to play Mario Kart 64 with my son religiously .... that's another one on my "need to get replaced" list so I'm lost without it. It's like having a console without the controller.....

I played a bit of Banjo Twooie the other day along with SF Rush 2049 & Hydro Thunder. But Mario Kart has the feel good factor when you mushroom missile the other guy which the others dont have.

I rate Mario Kart 64 hands down as my personal favorite game ... end of story. Thats saying someone when you've owned just about every console ever made. And of all the consoles I've owned the N64 is the ONLY one I've kept since day one when it came out. Pretty good for a company that's #3 now. In fact the Revolution, er ... Wii ... is the only other console I'm thinking of getting.

I must be a Nintendo freak .... you know .... the guy that believes in gameplay over flashy graphics any day :D

whoops, i meant the game boxes like blast corps, virtual chess 64, etc.

Iggy's Wrecking Balls, Madden 2001 and Ms Pacman are all in various stages of conversion at present and hopefully will be up in the next couple of days as I get time to finish them. Worst case is I'll upload one at a time every day or so.

Blast Corps and MRC Multi Racing Championship are the only two not scanned that are coming in the surface shipment.

That should clear up whats still to come. I usually do ones that require little processing for defects first and fast, and then spend time on messier ones later although in all fairness to Schenley I've just been really busy lately rather than there being any major issues with his scans.

Here's Hercule's for today's posting .....

Damn, I remember a while back there was someone offering to print out all the covers that you wanted and send them to you for a modest fee.. I searched through much of this thread and most of the PSX thread but I couldn't find his posts anywhere... coulda sworn it was in one of those threads..

Anyway, if anyone knows who this was, or if anyone is willing to do this, that would be awesome. I don't have legal size paper and my parents will kill me if I use eight covers worth of ink, not to mention I'm accident prone when it comes to printing/copying.

Alternatively, could I just take these to Staples and be like hey, print these out on legal-sized paper for me? I have no experience with having things printed at Staples so I appreciate the help.

I was just browsing the archives, and it seems there is no NTSC cover for Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Am I blind, or do we really not have a cover for this?

EDIT: Quick eBay search shows this guy (http://cgi.ebay.com/TUROK-DINOSAUR-HUNTER-ORIGINAL-NINTENDO-64-GAME-BOX_W0QQitemZ104750694493QQihZ020QQcategoryZ62053Q QssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) selling the box for a mere $1.98 shipped. If someone with a good scanner buys this box and scans it in to be used, that would be awesome. Hell, I could even PayPal you $2.25 to have it done (covers fees :))

I'd do it myself but my scanner sucks.

Yep ... we only have the PAL version I supplied at the present time. It's high on my priority list but $2.00 would increase to $13 - $15 due to postage to my part of the world... and that's before my lousy exchange rate's factored into the price.

And to be honest .... I'm doing all the conversion work creating the covers at the present time so I think someone else other than Schenley and myself may need to take this one on at this point in time.

Yeah ... both spines were soft focus on Schen's scans ... nothing to do with the scan itself and I liked the other spine as it had more boobage :)
But the pic was upside down so I couldn't use it. I did very little work on the spines other than cropping them just the same as any other title I've created.

Yeah .. no worries .. I've uploaded the full sized version to Snack-bar already but it may be a day or two before it's available due to Snowcone being out of action. Wont be long though .... :)

Everything is up but the new Turok Valeman did. Was this Rampage World Tour a replacement for the current cover Valeman?

No .... the existing Rampage World Tour cover is the PAL version while the new one is the US boxart. You can tell as only PAL covers have the black sidebars on the front and rear whereas US versions are almost always red and include ERSB ratings which PAL ones typically dont.

I think what happened is the original uploader didn't specify it as such and when it was added to Snack-bar it defaulted to "US", like the WWF Warzone which we had issues with for the same reason when I submitted the correct US version.

Cheers .... and it's good to see you on your feet again :D

EDIT. Turok Dinosar Hunter is now up on Snackbar contrary to the above .... he's on fire today is Ole Snowcone!!!!

UPDATE. Breaking news. You wont believe what turned up in the post today..... my surface shipment. So... after checking everything out I can confirm that I'll be able to provide covers for Blast Corps, NFL Quarterback Club 99 and MRC - Multi Racing Championship sometime this weekend.

Here's NFL Quarterback Club 99 ... again, supplementing the PAL version I upped a long time ago ... Another for the "Complete" bin .....

And the last of my boxes until the Visa is cleared is ... Blast Corps US version to add to my PAL version ... Another for the "Complete" bin ......

as usual awesome job valeman, what's the visa bill looking like now? I'd love to contribute more, but I just had my wisdom teeth pulled ($1900!), ouch!

Msg me your paypal address though, I'm sure I can donate a little USD cash =)

Thanks for the compliment. Wondered where you'd been .... wisdom teeth .... oh so long ago that I had mine out. Then again .... I'm probably the oldest one here still playing N64 ....

Don't worry about the Visa .... down to a little over $100 now so I'm making great strides all things considered. However, once I've paid it off I need to get

1. A cyan toner cartridge for my laser printer as I have 30 games in cases and no way to print covers for them at present ....
2. Some more cases as I have another 30 games needing cases from all the purchases I made for the cause. Had to sell off the game boxes to help reduce the Visa debt so they're sitting on my shelf loose at present.

After that I can start getting more games :)

Sooo little spending money vs sooo many things to buy .... sigh
