ok i read this list yesterday, and skimmed through looking for 7-9 games

http://www.digitpress.com/lists/playstation.htm

and saw nascar and laughed

on my way to school today, i piked up this game complete in mint condition for $1.00

is this rare or is that some kind of typo?

Just hang out at your local wallmart, you will find a buyer there.

im rather surprised that nascar gets an 8 while suikoden 2 gets a 4....i say the site is bs

That applies only to the collectors edition in complete condition. The Nascar 98 regular edition is considered a 1.

It's rarity, not quality, demand, etc. Rarity.
The Nascar 98 Collectors edition obviously had a small print run...
don't confuse the collectors edition with just the game itself... the game itself gets rated as a 1.

but why is suikoden 2 a 4....makes no sense...if it was a 4 i wouldnt have made $400 bucks off a 6 mint copies last year as everyone would have a copy

Exactly. Price is determined mostly by demand and partially by rarity.
A very common game that is in high demand will have a higher price that an unpopular game with higher rarity.

Suikoden 2 has a high amound of demand, and a smaller amount of copies out than most games.

I don't doubt the validity of the rarity rankings... but many of the prices do seem a little out of date.

That list is really out of date. It says DDR Disney Mix is a 2, yet it goes for $80 - $100 on Ebay. Same with DDR USA, also a 2 yet it's worth about $50 (MSRP was $30).

Well as someone who is a regular at digitpress you guys are way off. One rarity does not determine value, some games are uber rare but noone wants them so they remain low. And sealed rpgs will always go for a premium over unsealed games, and even more for rare sealed rpgs. The lsits are not updated on a consistent basis, especially as work is going on for the new version of the print guide. Spend a little more time on the site than just using the rarity lists, and you will see wha tI mean.,

You didn't even bother to read the thread, did you? That point had been explained multiple times before you said "you guys are way off"

I said that not 2 posts before what you said.. and most of the people had already grasped the concept.

Nothing to say but everything that has been said!

Chrono Trigger for SNES is only a 2, but it sells high because people seem to THINK it's rare because its bought fast anytime it's for sale. RPG's get mad high prices, especially if it's a good one.

Then take Fun N Games for SNES, ever heard of it? probably not. Would you buy it if you seen it? nope, you wouldnt. It's one of the rarest games on the system though....but since its not "popular rare" as I like to call it, its not going to get near as much as that loose Final Fantasy 2 youve been eyeing.
