Nice find. How many copies did they have?
There were 3 left when I stopped by this morning. I'm fixing to run back into town and pick up one for a friend, and if they aren't completely sold out, I'll pick one up for you, Follandboy.
I think this might be leftover from the $1.99 clearance sale they had a couple of months ago, or possibly the beginning of a new one (fingers crossed). If anyone else can confirm it at another CC, that'd be great.
Great great find. This is a little hard to come by in stores. If you can find it by all means grab it. Gamestop B&M usually seems to have it. I picked it up there for about $7 when they let me trade in two jampacks and a $2 CC game for the extra $10 in credit (Got lucky with that one).

Your ISP should have given you some webspace that you can FTP up to. Then you should be able to link to it from there.
PM me if you have any questions.

I use RoadRunner, but I have no idea how to access that webspace or even upload the file to it. I'm a total n00b when it comes to stuff like FTP.
I'll try again later, but right now I've got to run back up there and make sure I get the last two copies. Also might check for some more $1.99 games. Wish me luck.

Yep, confirmed. I picked one up in the Scottsdale Pavillions, AZ store a week ago. They only had one, though-- the excited employees checked their inventory for themselves before I could ask. :D
EDIT: In case of AZ Cagers, I know that the two Circuit Citys in Mesa do not have a copy too.

Well guys, no dice. Apparently someone caught wind of this earlier this morning (probably after I bought my copy), because all of the copies are now gone. I doubt they could have been purchased already, so my best guess is one of the employees was told to pull them off the shelves. Interestingly, the PS2 and XBox copies are gone too, although I'm not sure if they are part of the deal or if they were just already sold out.
I also tried to scan some other suspiciously tagged GC games to see what they'd ring up. The only "deal" I found was Sphinx & the Cursed Mummy ringing up for $9.99 instead of the marked $19.99.
For those of you who are looking at CC later today, let me know how it goes. I hope at least one other person gets in on this deal.

05-10-2005, 05:41 PM
As far as the receipt scan goes, is it possible that somebody could post it in this thread for me if I e-mailed it to you? I really don't want to mess with all the FTP junk.
Then don't mess with it--just go to image shack and upload it there :)
Just go to www.imageshack.us, click "browse", choose your file, then click "host it!", and then copy the URL it gives you into a CAG post. It seems too easy to be true, but it works.

Yea, theres probably a few more titles out there that aren't discovered at $2 yet. Its just a matter of store stock since it can differ so much with what you can find. I already made my store runs for the day but hopefully I can find one tomorrow. Anyone going today should also check the other versions and try a few other games.

I was just about to ask if it worked on the Xbox version, since only the PS2 version is still for sale at CircuitCity.com . If I go to Circuit City later, I'll see if there are any GameCube copies left.

It's too bad that original $1.99 sale thread went off topic and got locked. Like it was already mentioned in this post, there are probably still games out there that are $1.99 that haven't been found yet, so additions like this would have kept the thread going.
CouRageouS
05-10-2005, 08:17 PM
Yea that sucks, if that thread stayed nice and clean people might have been more motivated to try more titles. We should have even compiled a list of games that didn't work and what they rung up for if it was cheaper than the label. I have the list saved on my comp and I have a printed out one that I added the last few additions to.

I don't think the GC version has gone players choice yet, so it would be the original version.
And yeah, this is a great deal. I was amazed to find it. I was expecting it to ring up at $19.99 instead of the $39.99 at which it was tagged, but when $1.99 showed up, I almost had to change my pants.
If I were smart I would have grabbed every copy right then and there. DANG IT.

I bet all the copies were grabbed by the employees (they play games too & love a great deal).
When I worked at Sears, I routinely bought cheap games. Minus my store discount, they came to ~$3.00 each. Also got my hands on several PS1 LCD screens for only $5. Then I turned around and sold the games for $30 each, to help pay my bills.
If I was working at Circuit City, I would have grabbed those games off-the-shelf as soon as I finished handing you the receipt.

Just a hint - some people don't take kindly to 1) Bragging hoarders and 2) Bragging hoarders who then sell the games for a profit, thereby denying other CAGers a piece of the deal.
ala Scorch.

Second post and already been hated lol. Poor you. ;)
Well, back on topic :D.
I checked out the one CC in my area that ever had any of the $1.99 games - no luck (I never was able to find *any* of the $1.99 GC games - their GC section is pathetic). So then I took one last look through the GBA section. Nothing there of interest except several copies of PoP, tagged $29.99. OK, I thought, worth a shot - so I find an employee, and using my standard I-heard-it-from-CAG line, said "I heard this might be on sale, could you please scan it for me?". He scans it and says I'm right - but it is $14.96. So, anyway, if you were looking for the GameBoy version for relatively cheap, it should be $14.96 at CC...

Just kidding. :)
I went to Circuit last night, but couldn't get to the video games section because the store was close to closing already, and they were trying to get everyone to leave. If I go again soon, I'll look and if there are some, I'll try to get a few copies for fellow CAGs.

Yeah. I don't like hoarders. When I was a kid, I used to buy... say three copies of a game. Keep one for myself and sell the other two. Just because I was too young to get a job.
Now I buy one copy, and keep an eye out for friends and CAGers. Get a(another) job if you can't pay the bills. =/

I think a new $1.99 game thread should be started with the old list and it should be noted in the 1st post to keep the thread 100% on topic so it doesn't get locked.
CouRageouS

For those lazy to search here is the most recent list, sans PS1. The UPC/Value Sticker thing still applies. Yoshi I agree with a new thread, but alternatively a mod can just rename this thread and add this to the front page.
Print this out and while your looking, scan stuff just to see if its cheap or not. I put ** next to the newest additions.

Also keep in mind most of these games have been known for almost a month now, so don't expect to walk into the store with the list and coming out with dozens of games. Just have a list in your car and whenever you pop into CC, scope out the game section with your list. Personally the most I've come away with on one trip was 8, but that was way in the beginning. The way stock moves around seems to be quite random. I've gone to the same CCs a couple days later and still finding one or two I didn't see the previous visit.

Boo to the hoarder.. i don't mind picking up say 2 or 3 of a "good deal " game.. but hoarding ALL the copies is not cool. and very rude. and it is probably why you do not work at said store anymore (stores use the sales to get people into their stores... if ALL the cheap games blow no one will by them but if they find some cool game like PoP for 2 bucks they are more likely to come back to the store to look around at games again.) so boo to you for ruining your store for cheap gamers.
now.. that is freaking awesome.. i wish i could get in on the CC deal but not one is near me..

So all the games on Courageous' list are all $1.99? My CC had many of those games on an endcap that were all marked at $10. A sign above the games said something like "All games $10" I know I noticed Silpheed and Project Eden there. Anyone else's CC situated like this and can say they are $1.99?

What's the trick with the value sticker on these games? Don't they have to scan one barcode and not another or something?
It isn't really a trick, basically you want the original UPC/Barcode. If it has a value sticker and a sticker over the barcode on the back with a generic UPC, it won't be $1.99. They'll also ring up as 'PS2 Value Game $14.99' or whatever price instead of the games actual title.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends is only $1.99? My copy is disc only, so that price is great for a new, sealed copy.

Ok, I think you answered my question. All the games at my CC probably have the value barcode on them. If the barcode is on the wrapping, is it possible to tear it off?

I wouldnt recommend ripping the barcodes off of the packaging, they would probably catch you non video or something, and price tampering is illegal... however, you happen to find one or two copies of games (like I did) amongst the shelves without the value barcode plastered on, then you are good to go...
Also, alot of CC's keep the games in those plastic security cases making removal of stickers impossible

While at Sears, I bought games for ~$3 and sold them on Ebay for ~$30. It helped me pay my bills.Just a hint - some people don't take kindly to 1) Bragging hoarders and 2) Bragging hoarders who then sell the games for a profit, thereby denying other CAGers a piece of the deal. Did I just break a rule? Am I going to be banned? I'm sorry!
In my defense:
(a) What I did is *exactly* what stores like Wal-Mart, Target, et cetera do: Buy low (Levis jeans = $5 wholesale), and Sell high ($25 customer price). That's capitalism in action, and every store in this nation does it. Why does no one complain about stores earning a $20 profit on each Levis jean, but when I do it at *my store* on ebay, it's wrong? Why the double standard? Why is Walmart/Target/et cetera hoarding Levis at $5 a piece, and then selling them at $25, acceptable behavior? Please explain.
Boo to the hoarder.. very rude. and it is probably why you do not work at said store anymore Actually I'm still on sears payroll. However I got a better job working for the defense industry at $40 an hour. I design biological detectors that act as a "first alert" against terrorist attack & protect American citizens and soldiers. So, please, don't just jump to false assumptions about me. Thanks.
(b) I owed $30,000 on my credit card. I needed quick cash to pay it off, and selling those games really helped. Subtracted ~$1000 off my debt.
Anyway, my original message was not to brag. I merely wanted to point out that the Circuit City employees probably bought the games for themselves, as soon as the original poster walked out the door. CC employees like to buy cheap $2 games too.

You are not a store. You do not have overhead, distributors, or employees to pay. A store is a means of transferring goods from a manufacturer to a consumer. A store, in theory, provides value-added services, such as a display area, pleasant climate-controlled shopping environment, (knowledgeable) staff, customer service, etc.
A hoarder is someone who, posing as a consumer, purchases goods from a store with the intent of re-selling them either to a genuine consumer, or a retailer that deals in used merchandise, at a higher price. With a hoarder, there is no value-added -- in fact, value is removed due to increased cost and delayed ability to purchase. There is a reason why most sales ads state "No dealers".
As someone stated earlier, one or two extras is not a big deal, and I am guessing that is generally what you got, although I could be mistaken. I think a lot of people got the impression that when you found out about a huge price drop, you grabbed 10-20 copies from the shelf (while on duty, which is generally against a company's policies, but that is another issue), but in my experience, Sears doesn't have that many copies of anything worth having in the first place, sale or not.

I was at CC last night and the kind lady working was just super cool about it. My friend picked up a Rocket Power Bandits and when it rung up $1.99 the cashier asked if we were from corporate or if we work a different CC. She went on to say how her friend works at Macy's and when they have markdowns she prints out a huge list then they both go shopping and score a lot of penny/dollar items. After that, we asked her if they had any promo/penny items, specifically MAT2. Unfortunately for me no MAT2 but we got a bunch of free CDs and that Baseball DVD. I gotta say, the CCs around here have been really great.
Edit: Oh yea and I should also add I tried XGRA PS2 and that didn't work. If anyone's keeping tabs, add that to games that don't work.

It was locked because it had ceased to serve its purpose as a valid deals thread, since it had about 5+ continuous pages of useless infighting crap.

On a more serious note....If you are able to pick up the Prince of Persia gamecube version (it's $1.99 if you can find it at Circuit City) and you also buy the gameboy advance version then you can unlock bonuses for both versions of the game. Now, anyone who owns a GBA and a GameCube knows that Nintendo loves to have some connectivity features between games on both systems whenever possible. Prince of Persia: Sands of time is no different. In the GameCube version, there are special switches hidden throughout the palace, each of which will unlock a bonus map on the GBA version when the systems are connected. The real bonuses, however, are unlocked in the GameCube version. First of all, just for owning both copies of the game and connecting the two systems, you will get automatic health regeneration in your GameCube game. Sure, this makes the game easy, but if you're stuck somewhere, or you're on your second play through the game, it can be fun. Also, and most importantly, if you find all three hidden switches in the GBA version, you can unlock a full version of the ORIGINAL Prince of Persia game to be played on your GameCube. If you have the GameCube version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, this should be reason enough for you to buy the GBA version, as the original Prince of Persia is a classic game, and very much worth having a playable copy of.

Did someone here confirm that Tekken Tag Tourny is part of this deal. I know there was a guy on Fatwallet claiming all these tagged games were $1.99. After scanning and scanning and scanning, I told him he was full of it. Then he came back saying he was pricematching an error on a receipt over and over and getting all these Value tagged games for $2. If you find any of these titles w/a "value games", "CC value" or any other type of generic tags on them, just so you know, it isn't the store that's putting them on there, it's the distribution centers. Apparently my illustrious employer thinks that games 2-3 years old will sell at the $15-20 price point. Last year during the $5 clearance I was price adjusting those games just to get them out of the store  but they kept coming back like cockroaches.

My daughter and I decided to look over at our local Circuit City to see if I could rustle up any $1.99 games today.
We found three; GBA "Cat in the Hat", GC "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" and a PS2 "Scorpion King". Anyway, we took them up to the counter and sure enough, they rang up for $1.99 each. The gal was new, so she says "I'd better call back there and make sure this is right." She got a hold of some guy, he came up and looked at the games, he went into the back for a minute, came back and gave her a thumbs up. So, she totaled everything up, took my card, swiped it, and...
Some younger gal came jogging from the customer service counter saying loudly "NO... NO... ABSOLUTELY NOT... We CANNOT sell those games for that price. IT'S JUST AS BAD AS STEALING FROM THE STORE." She didn't make eye contact with me, but it was made clear to everyone within ear shot who she was talking about. "HE must pay FULL MARKED PRICE for EACH of these games." She took the games out of the bag and handed them back to the gal who rang them up, canceled the sale on the register and left, again without saying a word TO me (just the words ABOUT me). I wish I had the presence of mind to have looked at her name tag, but I was too stunned. So the poor register gal said "Uhm... would you, uh, like to pay full price for these?" I took my card back, said "No, thanks," ("Cat in the Hat" was still marked as $29.96!!) and my daughter and I went on our way.

I can't believe that something like that could ever be posted in a forum like this one. Maybe at Fatwallet... but not here...
I think it would be a better story if the stores that he tried to return them to told him that he HAD to open the games so that they could be traded in. Then he would have to sit in the store for hours and open them all and then find out that he didn't get anywhere near the value that he thought he would, and then all of the things you listed above would happen.

But somewhat disagree.
--- Value was added to my Ebay customers, many of whom live in distant rural areas w/o access to a store. Now they have games they'd otherwise not be able to find.
--- What "value" does amazon.com or ebgames.com add? They buy games for ~$20 and sell them at ~$40-50. What value have they added?
Do you consider amazon.com/ebgames.com to be "hoarders" too?

That would not work.

Troy, you're missing the entire point. You buying out the entire one time only clearance is not the same. When EBgames acquire games, they buy them from a distributer and from trade-ins.
Basically, when you buy a large amount of PSone screens for only five bucks, that is wrong. There are plenty of people who would love to have and USE one. I'm sure you're using one of the ones you bought, perhaps. But what about the others? Sold them for profit. And that is largely inconsiderate to people looking for deals.
Please do not try to disguise hoarding with a business front.

If it has any sticker on it saying that it's a Circuit City deal game, it's no longer 1.99. Because of this I was only able to get Tenchu (Ps1), EOE, and I Ninja (XB) for 1.99.

No, it doesn't mean it's no longer $1.99...It means that there is a sticker on the back of the case with a different UPC than the one on the box...If you can get an employee to remove the sticker for you, the game will still be $1.99.

I understand your point.
Do you consider amazon.com/ebgames.com to be "hoarders" too?
troy
But the value that you "added" was removed from consumers in your area. Amazon and ebgames.com each have an infrastructure that costs money, they have customer service, returns departments, etc. They often create content related to the games, give descriptions of the games, offer recommendations, and allow consumers to review and read reviews of the games. They purchase new games from distributors, not from other retail outlets. They also pay substantially more for new games than you seem to think they do.
Traditional retail model: Publisher->Distributor->Retail Outlet->Consumer B
vs.
Your model: Publisher->Distributor->Retail Outlet->Consumer A->Consumer B
Your model contains an unnecessary step, which is a waste of resources, in this case the resources are the additional dollars spent by Consumer B. Of course, not all Consumer Bs have access to the same stores and the same deals, and some, apparently, live in "distant rural areas w/o access to a store" (but with surprisingly good internet access), but by hoarding, you take the opportunity presented by the deal away from the Consumer Bs who do have access to the same stores as you. It just isn't nice. Would you rather be a Consumer B in the traditional retail model or your model?

It is possible so long as you explain the situation to an employee, or, even better, a manager. The manager at my CC peeled off two UPCs for me last time I went.
I'd suggest that you ask them to look up a game in their system first. When the inofrmation is pulled up on their screen, the game will show for $2, it will make your argument more convincing.

Traditional retail model: Publisher->Distributor->Retail Outlet->Consumer B (vs.)
Your model: Publisher->Distributor->Retail Outlet->Ebay Seller->ConsumerWhat about this model? Is this objectionable?
Publisher->Distributor->Retail Outlet->Ebay Seller (plays games)->Consumer (buys used)
You asked what I'd prefer? I think this model would be ideal:
Publisher->Distributor->Consumer
Eliminate the targets, EBgames, and amazons completely. We don't need those people. And reduce the price of the game by ~$20.

Nobody cares... we've all got bills to pay. The main thing people care about here is getting games for cheap to play, and unless you were reselling the games for very little profit, you're keeping people from game deals instead of passing on the deals to someone else (hence the hate).

They got cleared out pretty fast. I didn't get in until a week later because of work and managed to pick up seven games myself and my friend got three. I think we hit five CCs between Chapel Hill up to one of the ones in Cleveland. Tons of the games but they almost all had stickers.
Whats everyones luck with pricematch from one store to another or interally even? The games my friend got I want but the ones I've found elsewhere have stickers. I see Ugamer_X had luck but has anyone else?

Don't let them get away with that. Write a letter to CC, there's probably a customer feedback form on their website, so you can shoot them an email. I was pissed once about some bullshit Kroger pulled on me, so I took 5 minutes wrote them a (key word) polite email about what they had mis-handled and they sent me a $10 gc in the mail. True, it was only $10, but it was also only 5 minutes, and that $10 bought dinner. If I were you, I'd send them an email, and perhaps they'll give you a giftcard or at the very least an apology letter. If it's convenient you may wish to find out the name of the girl. Make sure to include in your letter how "embarassed/humiliated" you felt in the store and in front of your daughter. REVENGE I SAY!

I don't who "customer service gal" is, but I suspect "the guy" was the Department Manager and *his* word would over-rule him.
Also, when I worked at both JCPenney & Sears, we had a policy:
- the price that is scanned, is the price you pay, even if the store loses money
That is the LAW (at least in pennsylvania). Stores make mistakes sometimes, but that's too bad. The customer always gets the price marked or scanned, according to the law.

You are exactly the type of person most of the community doesn't want to know about this site. The leech. The guy with the inate hoarder/scalper mindset that doesn't add anything to the community, spews verbal diarrhea when they do post, and doesn't put deals back into the community.
Without people sharing, this community dies. People like you don't do anything but hasten the process.
It is NOT the law that if an item is scanning a lower price that the customer must get it at that price. Legally, if the price scans lower than retail, the store manager or owner can refuse the sale due to human error, believe it or not. The only time a price can be disputed legally is if said merchandise is on permanent display under lock and key where the price is permanently fixed and not subject to tampering according to the Department of Weights and Measures. The reason most retailers allow consumers to get the last word in such matters is because they want to make them happy and get their return patronage aka money. Also, if every consumer went to court based on this retail myth, stores would be bankrupt on the legal fees alone.

Oh no. This thread is getting crappy like the original $1.99 game at CC thread.
The nature of the deal will likely cause that to start to happen,
as you'll have some people that gloat about how they hoard, which will annoy some people, and then others that will talk about how they remove stickers, which will enrage some people.
Add this to the fact that the deal is YMMV at best, and that the possible stock the deals can be had on has greatly diminished due to the relabelling by CC or games being bought by CAGs and likely people at Fat Wallet, and you've got yourself a fertile ground for arguments to start up.
Though, it is nice to see that some people did actually get deals after this one was started up.

For the Bay Area CAGs, I went to the Pinole CC last night cause I was hanging out with my cousin who lives there. What a bust, all they had was Cat in the Hat PS2, which I've been passing on multiple times at multiple locations, and Banjo GBA. My cousin got the Banjo since I already got one. A lot of employees kept asking if we needed help cause we were digging through everything. Pretty funny when we walked away with only one thing.
Now that I've pretty much got games from every CC in a 30 mile radius, Its time to call it quits. It was really fun since all these CCs are so close to each other. Its tempting though since theres still 2 or 3 CCs up in SF area and 3 down in San Jose. Is it possible stores are chaning the prices on certain games? I was with a friend at a CC and we found a copy of Beyond Good and Evil for Gamecube, no stickers or value tags to indicate it would not ring up $1.99 so he decided he would get it for $1.99. It scanned $19.96 or $19.99. I had gotten 1 copy for myself for $1.99 at another CC when the $1.99 games were first discovered so I was kind of surprised. We went to another store and the same thing happened with X2 Wolverine's Revenge for GBA. Some were value tagged, others weren't. The one without the value tag rung up for $14.99 while in the same case, at the store where I got BG&E for $1.99, I got X2 for $1.99 there as well.

Most if not all CC stores now have gotten a pullback list - in English that means a list of games to be sent back to distribution. In this case its all the games in the system that are set to $1.99 that are being sent back. This started earlier this week and will be going on over the next week or two.
Sorry folks, but looks like the $1.99 clearance is about to come to an abrupt and sudden end. :(

More and more stores are doing that. When I was at Penney's, rather than "give away" old shoes via $5 clearance prices, we packed all the shoes into boxes, and sold them in bulk to an Ebay-listed company.
Makes sense. Rather than waste valuable floor space & sell product at a loss, let someone else take the Clearance items off your hands.

It is somewhat YMMV. As I mentioned in the last page, I tried games with a friend and games that were on the list and not value tagged, still rang up for more than $1.99. There is also the YMMV of the games being value tagged and not ringing up for $1.99 and some games being out of the computer system at certain stores and won't ring up at all.
is this still going on? And these games will ring up to the price 41.99 correct (went to last page and didn't bother to read whats before this post)

If you dont have this game already, Id recommend at least playing it before trading it in... it is a really cool game

I bought it when they offered Splinter Cell as a freebie. I love the game. I just wanted to get an extra for trading purposes. I'm still trying to get PoP:WW.

Ah, it's definitely a shame to see a great game reduced to mere trade-in fodder. I'd recommend keeping a spare copy if you already own it; it really is that good.

Just a heads up. I took a copy of Batman at my local CC to get price checked, and they totally canceled the sale for me. It scanned in at $1.99 but the manager ordered the rep to bump it up to sticker price ($49.99 *cough*CRAP*cough*).
Moral of the story: Just take it to the register, and probably with other items.

I was at the CC in Friendswood,TX this weekend and they had a bin about a quarter full of games from the $1.99 sale. Dave Mirra 2 (PS2) was actually labeled $1.99. Johny Mosely Mad Trix(PS2) was labled $4.99 (I already picked this one up for $1.99), and a few of the other games like terminator and SW:Bounty Hunter were labeled about $9.99, but were still in the bin with the other $1.99 list games. I didn't have any cash on me so, I didn't even bother checking on any of those other games, but there weren't any value stickers so who knows?

I don't see why you'd change the title to say its dead, thats implying that it doesn't work anymore but it does. Its just a matter of luck/stock.
ymmv would be better, some title are probably still around

I am still finding multiple games that are coming up $1.99 every time I go to CC. So far I have never had any problems getting the game for the lower price either. If the bar code on the back is covered I usually just tell the cashier to scan the bar code on the top of the game. A couple of times the cashiers have asked the managers about it and the answer has always been the same, "Go by whichever barcode is cheaper." The BMX games and American Idol, Project Eden, things like that all seem very abundant here.

I picked up a copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time(GCN) at the Pearland, TX CC today for $1.99. They had 3 more copies on the shelf when I left in case any Houston area CAGs want to check it out. The look on the cashier's face was classic when the price rung up!

Hoarders ruin it for the rest of us, but the fact of the matter is we live in a capitalist society.
It is ingrained into us to make a buck, everything is about cash, cash, cash, and looking out for yourself.
I doubt the grocery stores, his landlord, or anyone else tried to do 'the right thing' or look out for him. No, they just tried to pad their wallets.
Look at CEOs. 80+% of them would fuck over hundreds of thousands of people to make a quick buck. Actually, lots have.
Fact of the matter is, until something drastic happens, this is how people are going to be. People are selfish assholes.
I'm not gonna bother driving out to CC, because there would be no unstickered games and no one would remove them for me, and even if I tried to remove the sticker by myself, there would be sticky stuff left covering it and I'd be screwed. I try to be a good person, but there is no form of karma/God doesn't care, so I'd get fucked, like always.

I've had a couple of people PM me about this already. The CC I got it from is about 45 minutes from my house, and I won't be heading back that way until next week. I was going to pick up a couple of extra copies, but I didn't want to press my luck, and I thought I would leave some for some fellow CAGs. If any are still left when I go next week, I'll hook some CAGs up.

I had a similar experience trying to get a copy of Batman Rise of sin tzu with the lithograph. One CSR scanned it at the register, came up 1.99 then he had seller's regret, talked to a female cashier and she said you better check with the boss. Boss came over and said this was a pricing mistake. He had a change of heart I guess cuz my 2nd grade daughter was with me and said, sell it to me for 1.99. I thanked him and as I left the store, I saw a bunch of CSRs head over to the GCN and XB areas with lists and it looked like they were searching for any remaining 1.99 games that they had on a list.
This was several weeks ago and I have not gone back to any CC to look for any 1.99 deals.

I went to the CC on Touhy Ave. (Niles, IL) and couldn't find any $1.99 games, but I did find a copy of Turok: Evolution for $4.99 (marked $19.99). They still had some Dave Mirra BMX and Tony Hawk PS3 games.
I'm still looking for a cheap-ass copy of State of Emergency, if anyone can snag a copy...

Not dead yet, just wounded.
I went in today, checked a couple of the PS2 top UPC's and the American Idol came up as $1.99.
Then the Employee helping me said he could just remove the stickers and check. So, I ended up getting a X-men Dimensions for $1.99! Woohoo!
I got some other game, but I can't remember what it was.
So, if you can get them to remove the stickers/upcs you may be able to get more for $1.99.

Picked up Freedom Fighters for GCN yesterday for $1.99. CC really needs to get their act together on updating their pricing, though. 1080 rang up as $49.99 when I went to check. Oh well...their lack of pricing ability helps when you want to see if something is cheap-ass.

Man, I don't know why people didn't like "State of Emergency"?! Rockstar Games is a great developer, and Gamespot.com gave the game an 8.5 (Great)!!!
Still, $5 for 8-10 hours of chaos and mayhem is worth it for me...

That sucks b/c I have seen several of the 1.99 games at my CC but they have that crap generice "Value games" sticker on it. When I took them to the cashier she wouldn't scan the original upc barcode on the side of the game. Then she goes on to tell me how the games come from the warehouse with those generic upc codes. I bet those games are still there too.

I had my first deal denial ever today since joining CAG almost two years ago.
I went into the Poughkeepsie, NY CC today and found a copy of BG&E(GCN), Cat in the Hat(PS2), and Tekken Tag (Ps2 - with no value sticker). I thought, "Cool, some titles people must have overlooked". So, I see this girl by one of the end isle registers and I walk up to her with a smile and say, "Hey can you price check these for me, I saw online that they were being clearanced out." Well, something I said must have been the magic word, because this set her off into bitch mode. She starts shaking her head and says, "No, No,No!" with her voice raised. She says, " That's some BS website that I got that info from, and that it is a mistake". So, I say, "Well, the games are being clearance on the CC.com website." She says, "What does it say? A dollar and something....those prices are wrong."So, she takes Tekken Tag and scans it first, and it comes up $14.96 and she says all sarcastically, "$14.96....just what it says on the game...do you want it for that price?". Of course, I said no. Then she rang up CITH and BG&E and both come up $1.99. She says, " I can't sell these to you. I've been informed to take any of these games off the shelf". Then she took both games and walked off into the back. I just stood there stunned, and about to call over a manager and start a ruckus, but 3 things stopped me:
#1 - I had my 3 and 1/2 year old daughter with me and she was already fussy
#2 - I already have BG&E for PS2
#3 - Cat in the Hat definitely isn't worth the hassle
Anyway, that was my first run in with an asshat employee. I was pissed for about 5 minutes after I left because she was talking to me in such a bitchy tone, but I quickly got over it. I guess we can finally write this deal off as dead!

I would have complained directly to the manager there (who knows...maybe she was the manager...she looked like she was in her 20s), but my daughter was wrapped around my leg and just wanted to leave. I didn't even check the girls name tag to see her name. I wasn't really pissed about not getting the deal, but I was pissed about her attitude. Even so, it wasn't enough to make me want to turn her in.

Believe me, I would have done more than complain if it wasn't for the fact that my daughter was with me. No biggy...I scored huge, without a hitch, at that same CC while I was here last summer on vacation during the $4.99 sale. With all the horror stories I've read here about asshat employees at different places, I knew it was just a matter of time before I ran into one. If there's a next time though, hopefully my daughter won't be with me, and I will be sure to do exactly what you said.

If he was in CA that wouldn't be acceptable...in CA if something rings up for a price lower than the tag, they legally have to sell it to you for that price otherwise it's considered false advertising.

Also not news by any means but I also got FF7(GH) for $7.50, sticker price says $14.99 and they had 4 more of those and several other PS1 games that were being clearenced, I really did not pay attention to them though.

I always check everytime I'm in a CC to see if they have the sticker over the UPC. Occasionally I will find a few games. Over the last couple of weeks I've found Hulk GBA, Konami Arcade GBA, Big Mutha Truckers Xbox, Cat in the Hat PS2, Frogger PS2 and La Pucelle. Not the greatest of games but my son has fun with them and now I can trade in the GBA games for Nintendogs for him.
