LUMINES
The reason i brought this up is because i was watching G4's "Attack of the show" & a caller asked the "Ds vs Psp" question and bought guys said to get the Psp because it's more powerful BUT then started talking about Lumines being the best game on the system(which i & most people would agree).
It's just interesting that people talk about the Psp's graphics & then turn around & play the game with the least impressive graphics for the system.
Just goes to show graphics aren't everything. I think the thing that makes Lumines the best is it's actually something new, not just a portable version of a PS2 game.

Graphics matter not. At least not to me...they mean nothing to me. Most of the best games in history are 2D, so, yeah.

Much like the PS2 launch, you can probably expect to wait roughly a year for the truly exceptional PSP games to start coming out. While you're waiting, that $250 can possibly be earning you more money elsewhere as well.

What's important is that it's a game that pulls you in to the point where the graphics aren't a major issue. But just to be clear it's not as if Lumines has horrible graphics, it's got a very cool presentation and design sense but ultimatly it's just a very fun to play puzzle game with blocks being the major graphic element. It's also got some nice music in it too.

Launch games tend to have problems due to having limited time to create stuff for an unfamiliar platform. You can have good graphics but an otherwise lacking game or a good gameplay concept tied to a simple display. Not an unforgivable trait in a puzzler.

Simple does not equal bad. Lumines looks great. The graphics are perfect for the game concept, lots of cool effects that suit the trance/rave aesthetic.
Of course, that said, when I want to impress people that haven't seen a PSP before, I show them Ridge Racer.

Graphics < Gameplay.
On a side note, I plan on using my soon-to-be purchased PSP for more than just games. I will be watching Anime and TV shows on it while I'm working out at the gym. That'll teach all those iPod wannabe's who's king of the handhelds!

Lumines graphics are great. When I popped in Ridge Racer for the first time I cringed at te blurry and blocky textures and wondered why people were raving about the graphics. Fun, very. Pretty, slightly. Wipeout kills it for visuals. When I want to show people the clarity of the screen, I show them a movie clip I've got stored.

it's not about the graphics, and it's not like the graphics are bad...it's just that graphics don't need to be more than they are. they are crisp, vibrant, and ideal for their purposes.
