i just realized we didn't have one (not active anyway) so does any of you cheapasses watch American Idol besides me?
Last night was a huge shock for me. I thought those could've been the 3 most talented and they were in the bottom 3. All in all, I was glad that Jennifer had gone through because she was the worst of them. She had an amazing voice, but was too soap-operaey and Whitney Houston for the modern age right now. I didn't like her voice too much though she definitely had talent.

I watch American Idol. I got your back. Though I stopped watching it though cause the sucky people stay on it and the good people get the boot all the time. It's not about the singing anymore, it's a popularity contest now.

That's what i was saying about last night.. they all had the best talent and were ranked the bottom 3, that's just pathetic. its becoming a popularity contest now it really is. i'll keep watching it, because jennifer got taken out instead of latoya or fantasia, but that was seriously pathetic.
the swan is a self-degrading show for ugly women and its the farthest fox has stooped down. they have to new levels now and its so fucking disgusting that they'd do that and advertise it.

John is the one who should have gone last night, and based on his performance on Tuesday, George should have been in the bottom 2. There are still really good voices and performers left, Fantasia and Latoya, so in the end the people voting on talent will outnumber people voting on popularity

I personally like John's voice and i KNOW i'm gonna get totally bombed and flamed for this.. but I think his voice is sweet and original.

Rupert is cool, but the others need to realize they need to break up the Rob/Amber combo. If Rupert doesn't win it, I would like to se Shi-Ann win it, but I think she will be voted out tonight.

I can't stand John Stevens. Original my ass. Bennett and Sinatra are leagues did it better decades before this pale imitation.

Same with the Macy Gray ripoff Fantasia. Could her voice be any more grating? I can't stand Macy Gray either, so it's fitting.

Diana all the way. Jennifer was up there for me too, and I definitely didn't see her going out this early in the competition.

On the Survivor front, I'm a huge fan of Rupert, but I don't see him winning the competition. I can definitely see someone undeserving, like Shi-Ann or Amber winning it. Boston Rob's burning his bridges and will be gone soon, and he'll be shocked as hell, I'm sure.

All reality TV is worthless. Some of it sucks, some of it is outright crap, and some of it is tolerable. Still, no reality show yet has contributed anything useful to society.

I can't totally agree. I think more guys are metrosexual because of Queer Eye For the Straight Guy (or because their girlfriends make them watch it). I think that's a useful contribution to society. More guys who know proper grooming is always a good thing, IMO. :D

Okay, I watch too much reality TV... Anyways, back on topic, I don't like Macy Gray, but I like Fantasia. I thought she was boring at first, but I think she's become a lot more interesting in the last couple episodes.

I don't watch the show, but I do glance at the paper once in a while aside from the funny pages. This John Stevens thing in Buffalo is the biggest thing going right now, since we have nothing else to root for until football season starts. Kinda sad really.

Another John Stevens fan, I'm not completely alone.
I thought fantasia sucked, she had some kind of lisp in her voice, until i heard her sing summertime and she was so amazing. now i think she's really good. she COULD possibly win, but there would definitely be a huge fight between her and latoya. they've both got the talent. no one else is even that close. George is good, just recently not doing that well. So isn't jasmine, though eventually she's not gonna be the winner i just know it. And diana i'm predicting that, if not john, will be the next to go.

I watch the tryouts, and then i catch the end of it every wednesday, because I watch the OC, I'll admit it. Basically my tv line up is random spike tv stuff throughout the week. Wrastling on Monday, and on Wednesdays its. OC, South Park, Chappelle.

BTW Joe Smoe was definetely one of the best reality shows.


Also watching the whatever real inside news on Reality TV, Someone quoted that Reality TV is just like wrestling, some of its real, but a lof of influence is done to get things scripted together.

American Idol is the only reality show I can stand. This season is the first time I've watched it.

I hate to admit this, but I like John Stevens. I really like the idea of a current pop star with the style of Frank Sinatra, etc. Most of today's pop music sucks and I think someone like John could have a really positive effect on it. That said, I think he really needs a lot of work before he can be a success and as much as I want him to win, I don't think he should have gotten this far. I was just reading something (on the internet, so take it with a grain of salt) that there's a huge problem with people voting multiple times for him. So the reason he hasn't been voted off yet is because (supposedly) he has a small group of fans voting like a large group. If that's really a big problem, though, I don't know why they don't just make it so you can't vote twice from the same phone. :?

Despite the fact that he's my favorite, though, I'm going to be angry if Latoya doesn't win. She's definitely the best singer out of all of them.

No offense if you really like this show...good for you I suppose. But man, all this does is create even more disposible pop music no one will (hopefully) remember 3 years from now. It creates celebrity out of nothing...I mean, come on...Seacrest is unbearible in any of his many evil forms.

And the "outtakes" of the really, really bad singers? Is there really any doubt how many, if not all of them, are just actors paid to be bad to create content for this show?

At least it helps give 24 a large lead-in audience...

I heard on the radio today that John is undergoing therapy because he can't handle all the stress of being on the show. Apparently his mom complained to the producers and they arranged for the sessions. Weird.

Yeah, John got kicked off today. I was really sad when I first heard about it, but all in all I think it's for the best. He had a good finale, much better then Tuesday night's horrendous singing. There is a clan of people voting for John but 4 million votes wasn't enough for him just because he was so bad. I'm glad he made it this far, I knew he was gonna get kicked off, and when I sincerely thought about it down to the wire between John and George, I wanted George to make the cut. Because I voted for him actually and so I was happy he did...
But i'm pretty sure John will come out with a CD since Jennifer did, so any John stevens fans (amanda the red mage, im atw with you!) can pick it up i'm guessing relatively soon at their local cd store or order online.

I don't know if this is true, but this is what I heard:

Obviously, since so many people audition, the three main judges don't listen to all of them. Everyone sings for other judges first, and those judges choose the top 5% and bottom 5% to send to the main judges. So the really bad singers were specifically chosen because of how bad they were. Also, some of the bad singers are asked if they can do anything funny on the show. For example, that girl from the "untalented" episode who used ventriloquism to make puppets sing mariachi music was probably specifically asked to do that.

(I can't even remember where I read all of this, so if anyone can back me up or disprove it, I'd appreciate it.)
