View Full Version : How can I make Windows XP remember my Folder View settings??

I've tried and tried endlessly to make Windows XP remember exactly how I want certain folders to be viewed but it just refuses to cooperate. For example, I want my pictures folders to be viewed as thumbnails while I want my mp3's to be viewed as a list.

I've tried going to Tools>Folder Options>View> and clicking on "Remember each folder's view settings" but that option is total BS. Every few days my computer will just forget every view setting for every folder so that I have to reset it to my liking whenever I view them.

Anybody else have this problem? Any ways around it?

Bump and request as well in something similar to this problem.

How can I make windows remember my file arrange options? In my mixed media folders it always presets the file arrange for audio, and will stay for a short time after i reset it.

Seems to be more trouble than it's worth but read this thread:

So it involves registry tweaking? I've always stayed away from that due to my ignorance of registry keys, but for this I think I'm willing to start learning. It would be great to actually have my folders remain with the settings i left them with.
