I think Eminem is good at doing what he does, but I could not possibly compare him to previous legends for a few reasons.

1) Who knows how long his music will play, Elvis still gets a lot of airtime, will Eminem?

2) There were considerably fewer artists with the recognition of Elvis. Today, there are so many different bands, all with a video, with a publicist, on some cable show. Elvis had the Ed Sullivan, that's all anybody had, think of what the Nielsen ratings must have been for elvis, does eminem have that draw?

3) Both are playing the controversy to fame game. Be controversial and people will talk about you. Unfortunately for Eminem, today everything is controversial, from reality tv to Eminem's lyrics.

I agree that Eminem is talented, I dislike who he is, but theres always that catch to his songs. I think it is considerably too early to put him on the same scale as Elvis, as the time has not passed. It's like saying you know who's going to win the world series because their off to a strong start.
