It's official; this is what it looks like:

Now if only there were screenshots of the games, or the controller, or we had some idea of what it did...

Didn't everyone learn from the PS2 that vertical standing systems are not a good idea?

Kind of lame looking ... doesn't grab any attention at all, and I'm not someone who is into flashy stuff. It's even too drab looking for me.

Exactly what I thought when I look at it. It might have caught my attention 5 years ago, but definiately not in todays age.

It's barely noticable, it has no more personality than an external CDrom. The games them selves will seriously have to kick all sorts of ass for anyone to take notice of it. This scares me.

Nintendo is banking on Design, but if there's anything the last generation has taught us it's then developers are lazy and the only people who might use the system to it's full extent are Nintendo themselves... just like the 'Cube.

It's official; this is what it looks like:

Actually, Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference suggested that this was simply a prototype. The finished system will be even smaller, and they haven't even decided what color(s) it will be. I wouldn't start judging it in any console beauty contests just yet since we don't really know what the end product will look like.

Agreed, this can't be more than an artist concept. They'd have better pictures if that was the case.

me too, but i guess you can't please everybody

to the people who dislike it, would you rather it be shaped like a dolphin?

They said during the conference that this was a prototype and that the final model will be even smaller.

It's not so much that it looks ugly as it just dosent have any personality, it's just a small black/grey box with some lights on it. It's as if they've just foregone all external design ideas and just focused on what's inside but that's not going to catch the eye of an average consumer. I dont mind if the real thing is smaller but for goodness sake make it interesting to look at.

It's like the really plain girl at a party, she might be super freaky underneath but no one will know because they dont ask her to dance.

What exactly is slick about it? I am not trying to start a flame war, but it's pretty plain. The fact that it looks like it is tiny as hell is damn slick, I'll give you that. But as far as appearences go, it's pretty basic. I'm not necessarily saying that is bad and I will almost certainly be buying one. I could care less what it looks like so long as the design doesnt create problems which I can't imagine would be the case.

I agree. For some reason, it doesn't look.. Nintendo. Don't ask me why, it just doesn't.

Also, the CD drive looks like the drives that come with those Macs that are one big rectangular unit, with the monitor set in it. The disks don't even use a tray, but function rather like a car stereo, in that you just stick the disc in, and press eject to retrive it. In any case, I've heard that the CD's get stuck in the vertical Mac drives, due to the lack of a tray to move the disk out of the system.

Actually, that last part was totally irrelevent. GFY.

I hope the final one isn't all glossy like that, I'd hate to accidentally scratch it (and have to look at it if I did).

Its okay, I'm more interested in what it can do more than what it looks like since its supposed to be all "revolutionary"

imo, i think it's slick b/c it's compact, modern-looking, and it looks like it'll fit right in with all my home theater equipment. i respect your opinion and i can see where you're coming from. it's not as flashy as the xbox 360 and it doesn't fit with the traditional nintendo look, but seriously... if i didn't like a system b/c of it's looks, i wouldn't have an xbox

and yea... no flame wars please hehe. :D

Everyone bitched because the gamecube looked like a lunchbox, now they actually make something decent, and still no one is happy. Bitch and moan, bitch and moan. I'm happy with it, it looks nice. The ps3 still looks like a car amp, and the xbox looks like a bar of soap. Just stfu and deal. Gosh!

that website says xbox 360 is 10 to 13 times more powerful than the xbox

ps3 is 35 times more powerful than the ps2

and the revolution is 2 to 3 times more powerful than the gamecube?

what the hell... it better do some badass stuff, because apparently the other 2 companies have systems that are waaay more powerful than the revolution

shouldnt the ps3 #'s be cut in half since the cube and xbox were about double the ps2 graphically anyways

and the revolution looks great, especially how they got the gamecube slots hidden

That isn't the case this generation though. Xbox is going to take a slight hit in the tech dept so they can get it out the door by fall. PS3 will probably release sometime later, and will have a bit more oomph packed into it.

I was perusing Gtagaming.com, looking for some xbox San Andreas updates, and noticed this:

PlayStation3 has *just* been unveiled by Sony at their pre-E3 press conference. The machine, which features a convex design not dissimilar to a refridgerator door, has been billed as "twice as powerful as Xbox 360" by Sony.

PlayStation 3 Technical Info

3.2Ghz "Cell" Processor
550Mhz "RSX" Graphical Processing Unit
256MB XDR Main RAM @3.2GHz 256MB GDDR3 VRAM @700MHz
Detatchable 2.5" Hard Disk Slot

It could just be hot air, but you never know. Hardly savvy with the intimate details of the big game companies and their economics, I still stop to wonder: how would Sony's hardware beat out the Xenon?( I hate the 360 name, I'm sticking with the protype designation.)

I mean, they could come up with a nifty new way to suck the performance out of the Ps3 hardware and games, but Microsoft has been in the business since about 1982. While this doesn't guarantee Micro's success over all, I would still think that they have a leg up over the Ps3/Gamecube.

Just speculation, mind. I'd still get a Ps3 , if not only for Killzone 2.
