The next gameboy, Gameboy Micro, is just a smaller GBA about the size of an Ipod mini.
Why does Nintendo hate me?

Because you post in the wrong forum about a console that already has a few topics
It worse because I was like no way I will ever buy a 3rd GBA but I'm such a sucker for small and portable.

It is in the right NINTENDO forum, and I can't find any other topics about teh Gameboy Micro.

Who the hell needs a smaller system? I think the buttons will be uncomfortable.

Agreed, my hand already gets cramped with the small buttons of the DS.

The SP is fine as it is, I think they may only be trying to spur sales but at the same time that seems like a dumb idea when they could be pushing the DS since it plays GBA games.

It concerns me that Game Boy Micro has an exposed screen like all the pre-SP Game Boys. This means that most kids will trash it in no time, and used examples in good shape will be tough to come by as a result.

It is going to have to be very cheap and durable to make it more appealing than the SP and better than the DS for people who only want to play GBA games.

Do I smell a $49.99 launch price? I hope so! Regardless, if this is under $80, I will pick it up. Sure I have a DS, but thats just sexy.

Well, with the Game Boy micro, I will have room for my heroin rig in my back pocket. That's awful nice of the Big N. Who says they're just for kids?
myke.
...seriously, they just gave us the DS. Do you really want *another* console, given that the next big 3 are around the corner?

I already have 4 GBA's, so this really doesn't appeal to me. I might use it as a gift for friends though.

While I hope it is $50, Nintendo is not really known for making us pay less for the same thing over and over again. Examples: Pokemon, NES Classic Series.

Try 4th: I bought the GB Player.

It'll be cool to have a smaller Gameboy to play with.

I'm happy that the Game Boy platform has has been supported for so long, but I think it's time that Nintendo moved on and gave us the Gameboy Revolution or whatever. It seems that the DS really is the successor to the Game Boy even if Nintendo is telling us differently. I don't think that having two screens is any big selling point for me, so I'll just stick to the SP. Kind of reminds me of when Atari was selling the 2600 and the 7800 at the same time.

I'm getting one. I loved the original GBA. The SP is nice, but I find it uncomfortable compared to the original GBA. I just hope it is cheaper then te current GBA SP.

its just an excuse to keep selling GBAs at $80-$100. it would be worth it if it doubled as an mp3 player, which they could easily do. maybe even go the way of the ipod and add a mini 5GB hd to it. that would be uber awesome
This will be perfect for carnies (they have small hands).

I'm really interested in the customization factor (the faceplates) and plus I'm pretty psyched for a brighter GBA screen. Don't get me wrong, I love my DS and I play GBA games on it all the time for the brighter screen, but its simply not as portable as this new critter.
I'm hoping its cheap tho........$49.99 sounds perfect.

and smell like cabbage.
Oops! I did it again.

Just to echo some of you guys' posts, if the price is right, I'll pick one up. I don't care about the lack of MP3 playing or whatever...I already have an MP3 player. Just having a super tiny game console is perfect for me. I'd definitely rather carry that around, especially with the ability to change faceplates, rather than even carrying around my SP. This definitely has me starting to take a look at the GBA games that I've neglected to pay attention to lately...it'll be cool to have a new (and seemingly better) way to play the games.

Are some of the games that didn't work on the SP going to work on this, because of where the games are inserted?

I was a carny for the better part of 1981 and still prefer the original Xbox controller.

i have a GBA and GB player.. my mom has an SP lying around I don't play it.. i never liked the layout of a "slim line" orignal gameboy (which is really what it looks/feels like to me).. Didn't get a DS or a PSP i may get a micro.. i love my ipod shuffle.. i'd get this if it hits around 30-50 just to be able to play SF and Doom away from home is great.

Actually, it costs more to produce one of these than it does the SP. They are still debating internally on a price point and that is the reason there is ont one yet set. I think the only way it will be cheaper than the SP is if they feel they need to be desperate in the handheld arena, which they are not. I could see an equal price, but likely it will be to have it at $79.99 and have the SP drop to $49.99-$59.99. I don't think they can have a new model of an old product launch at $99.99, but I guess we will see.

true. i would have been pissed if they released a new handheld system so soon after the DS. This is good news for me!

The SP was $99 at launch and it was just a new model of an old product.

There's usually always something better down the road, sp you could end up waiting forever if that's your philosophy. And I wouldn't consider the Micro that great. It's truely backlit, but the screen size takes a hit. Plus it can get scratched easier than the SP. The DS isn't a Game Boy.
