Recently I had a thought about Nintendo. I'm not sure why but I was wondering what it would be like if nintendo was to enter a few different situations and figured I'd make a topic about it (I'm bored and it's late). So what are your thoughts? Or is this the dumbest poll you've ever seen? I contemplated on adding a "Merge with Microsoft" option but it just seemed so wrong, thus I excluded it.

I like Nintendo making both hardware and software. There is enough market there for all three 3 consoles Nintendo, Playstation, and Xbox to exist at the same time.

nintendo is a survivor IMO no matter what it will be there wether first or last it will live and the others will die with time.... nintendo will always be around just because they are so self-powering I mean they make thier own hardware and have the best 1st party resources period.

I really wish they would make software only, and make all their games multiplatform. I'm getting really tired of having to buy a new Nintendo system every X years just to play nintendo games. I was actually happy when Sega backed out of hardware, because it meant one less system to buy, but I could still play all the good Sega games

Nintendo need to go through with the Revolution, and keep supporting the GBA.
This might sound like blasphemy, but I wouldn't mind playing Nintendo games on a Sony system.

I agree. If the Revolution is a hit, I'll be solid in my opinion. However, I think that if the Revo tanks, they should go the route of Sega.
However, I'd like to see Sega put out a another console to beat the shit out of all, but that won't happen.

Nintendo is fine on its own. A merge of Nintendo and Sony (one of the largest retailers of electronic products, meaning we'd see NINTENDO on digicams, etc. and that would be weird) would be pretty lame. Nintendony? Sonendo? Nintony?
I think Nintendo should start competing with XBOX and PS in terms of hardware.
Let's make a Playcube 360.

i wouldnt mind seeing sega and nintendo merging into one superpower. With sega exclusive games on Nintendo's system only, im sure we would see a BIG shift in the gaming market, THEY WOULD BE UNSTOPPABLE!

Wouldn't it be sweet to see Smash Brothers, Zelda, and Mario on other consoles. Nintendo should got the way of Sega and just make their games for other consoles and get rid of theirs. Their last two consoles in my opinion were far inferior to the competion. N64 vs Playstation and Gamecube vs PS2 vs XBOX come on thats not a victory. They should just make the games for all consoles axe their consoles and maybe keep their handhelds since they pretty much own that market until the PSP catches on big. Seriously I like nintendo, but I'm not a big fan of their backwards spinning consoles with their lil bitty discs and their lack of squaresoft <whatever they call themselves nowadays> games. Nintendo owned in its time, but they just aren't getting the pull they used to and I'm grateful nintendo has done all its done, and I love their zeldas and marios, but I'm afraid they are gonna fail and go away completely when they could just be making me games for the PS2 or XBOX.

Actually, I was going to vote for a merger with Sega, but you know what? I think I prefer the direction Nintendo is headed right now. They're trying to distance themselves from Sony and Microsoft rather than compete, and I think their focus on making games more accessible instead of having the most powerful console will help them create a niche of their own.
Viva la Revolution. I'll buy one. And Viva La Nintendo.
Oops! I did it again.

Just continue taking the route they've always taken. Continue producing consoles and publishing titles from our favorite licenses, and of course for new innovative licenses. They're still making profits and I highly doubt Revolution is going to 'flop', especially a significant enough of a failure to warrant making a decision to no longer produce consoles. So no, they shouldn't merge with any other companies nor should they go the route of Sega. Just continue taking the path they're taking now.

I think its fairly certain that Nintendo, atleast in the US, is trying to become the Macintosh of Videogaming. They are marketing specific-aesthetically pleasing- designs for use with the end user. Sony is pushing power, and Microsoft is somewhere strangely in-between. Nintendo need not merge with any group to continue financial success, as they completely dominate the portable gaming market.
As much as I love nintendo, I do not see it competeing, power-wise with Sony and Microsoft.
They are trying to niche market their new console-- and with the backing of their 20 year long portable monopoly, they can do whatever the hell they'd like.

I picked the sega one. Nintendo would merge with them and fund the making of Shenmue 3!

I would love for them to go third party....continue making their handhelds...I my gamecube collection in comparrison to my xbox and ps2 collection is quite pathetic...I have never been a fan of either pokeman or mario but I love zelda, and metroid...I also don't like the dramatic changes in controllers they have with each new console...I have not liked a nintendo made controller since the snes....

From an anecdotal standpoint... when's the last time you heard of folks having technical issues from a piece of Nintendo hardware? It's only happened once to me - my Gamecube's rumble feature stopped working on port one.
Even though my warranty had expired nearly a year before, I called Nintendo... and they fixed it. For free. Got it back to me in less than a week. And paid for shipping both ways.
Their hardware is rock solid and their customer service is spectacular, and - from experience - I can't say that about Sony or Microsoft.
I say that Nintendo needs to keep on with the hardware.

What are these good games you speak of? Save for some ports/collections, Sega has released nothing but completely mediocre trash this generation.

I doubt if Nintendo dropped out of the console market and made just handhelds we would see any big Nintendo game on other consoles. They would focus everything on the handheld and make it the only way to play Zelda and Mario.
A Sega/Nintendo "merge" would be cool, not so much a merge just make Sega exclusive to Nintendo consoles. Imagine Sonic and friends in SSB Sega vs. Nintendo. I can't see Nintendo dropping out of hardware because I believe they make a profit on each piece of hardware sold, why stop if your making a profit?

Merge with Sega and release a new console. I would be real happy to see all of Nintendo's and Sega's games on one system. I got an Xbox mostly for Sega games and 1 less console to buy would be great.

N64 and Gamecube were more powerful than their Sony counterparts...Xbox being the only true victor in terms of raw power.
Your statement is only valid for their media choices. That HAS hurt them a bit. But in no way were the Playstations more powerful rigs, and Nintendo was inferior to them.

No I'd rather Sony or Microsoft go third party, I support the company that I think makes the best games, and therefore I support Nintendo both hardware and software.

Well, I don't like your options. Nintendo needs to realize that the world doesn't revolve around it. I don't like their "This is what we think and therefore it is the only way" mentality, but I want to continue to see them in the hardware market. I'd like to see them merge with Sega, if only to stop Sega from killing their own franchises.
