What is the name of the bit used to take apart NES games. I'm going to head to the hardware store and I need some info so I don't look like a dofus.

It's called the gamebit by most people.

it's a special security bit and I highly doubt you'll find it at a hardware store. I bought mine off of ebay. You'll also need the 4.5mm to open the console, the 3.8 is for carts.

Its not a torx bit because it goes out, not in. You could call it a reverse torx bit I guess, but that doesn't really exist.

Hardware stores put up with doofuses all the time, just like any other place. I suggest (if you still intend that route) to make it easier for everyone and bring a game cart with you. Then tell the guy you need something to get this (point to casing) screw out.

The employee will be more helpful that way than when he's trying to figure out what you mean by 'torx gamebit'.
