Well, i was thinking since the Revolution is supposed to be able to play all the nintendo games just about through emulation. Would i be wrong to think that the prices on more desired carts like FFIII, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana etc, will drop in price?
I know rereleases of a game will always drop the prices of that game. How much it drops depends. I was thinking about maybe selling some of my snes carts before they arent worth anything anymore and can be emulated with the Revolution anyways.
what are you thoughts?

Very interesting. I'd say no though. Collectors are just that, collectors. The gamers who actually want to play the game wouldn't pay $100 or whatever for a sealed copy of Secret of Mana anyway. In all honestly, emulation has been around long enough that the majority of people who want to just play SNES games and not shell out a ton of money have done so.

I see them dropping but not enough to snag them for like $5 on ebay. Many people who are still buying those games are collectors. I do hope Mega Man X III drops in price by like, $100.

I can imagine that Nintendo will only be able to sell ROMs of its first party games (Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc.), so because of a variety legal complications and red tape, I don't see them selling ROMs from third party developers (Square, Capcom, etc.). Don't get your hopes up for those unless it's explicity stated that they'll be available.

Yeah, i mean in theory these can all be emulated on gba, dreamcast, xbox, pc... any recent system actually, so no i dont see a drop in price anytime soon. now if square decided to release some more compilations, then id say its possible

Mr. Unoriginal is right, if ya wanna play old snes games and nes games people are already emulating them on computers and dreamcasts. How are they expecting to sell roms, putting up a nice flashy cover for the original mario and slapping a $20 tag on it? It's glad to see next gen consoles catching up with the dreamcast thou.

Square already released compliations of it's games on PS One, and then again on GBA (FF 1 and 2).
It hasn't lowered cart prices at all... a complete copy of FF 3 (non sealed) for Snes still gets 90-100 dollars on Ebay. As Mr. Unoriginal said, collectors will want the original regardless, and hell, re-releases sometimes drive the price up since collector's want the "original".
Plus, no way Square would agree to re-releasing their games on the Revolution... not when then can do it themselves, charge 5 times as much and STILL have everyone buying them, and then add in "graphical upgrades and a new feature".
I got a feeling we'll largely see Nintendo's own stuff, plus various other companies who agree. Kind of like how Konami let Castlevania be part of the NES Classic series.

This won't do anything but possibly make the SNES carts go up in value. It will introduce some of these games to a new generation. The demand for the original carts will rise. But like previous posters have said, I'd be surprised to see Non-Nintendo originals available through this program.
I know I won't be buying any of these downloads from Nintendo simply because I've already bought and own most of these games. I can already play all the ROMS of them on my PC, or my DreamCast, or my Pocket PC, or my Xbox, etc... Or, if I really feel like it, I can hook up my old systems and pop in the actually carts and play.

If they don't say no, it will be on my system, with Secret of Mana.
