Rocket Jockey. Good lord, this game was awesome. Truly a buried treasure among PC gaming. A unique game that NO ONE has ever bothered to rip off!!!

You ride these speeder-bike looking things (rockets). You are always moving forward and you can only turn slightly, so your main method of control is a grappling cable system attached to your rocket. You have left and right cable launchers, which you use to grapple onto various objects. Grapple a stationary pole and you'll make a tight turn. Grapple someone else's rocket and you'll drag them around a bit. Grapple a fellow racer and you can snatch them right off their rocket.

Here's where things get really interesting... shoot both cable launchers at once, and you can attach the two cables and release them from your rocket, which allows for all sorts of dirty tricks. The coolest thing you can do is to yank a racer off his rocket, drag him around a bit, shoot your second cable onto a pole, then ATTACH. You ride on, while your helpless opponent is strung up on a pole. You can also tie two rockets together to really screw them both up, or you can make a "clothesline" by attaching a cable to two poles, which makes a nice booby trap for other careless racers.

If you get knocked off your own rocket, it's up to you to try and comandeer another vehicle before someone grapples your helpless ass and strings you up to a pole. That's where things get really frantic, and winning a match can become a real epic affair.

Anyway, my main point is that this game was awesome. Anyone play it? I keep hoping for a sequel, or at least a rip-off. There really is no other game that plays like it - or if there is, I have yet to hear about it! Remaking this game on current-gen consoles, with online multiplayer, advanced physics, modern production values, and a whole bunch of options would be tremendous. I can't even get the original game to run on my windows XP... which makes the need for a sequel/ripoff even more urgent!!

I have nothing to add, except to agree that the game was awesome, and I'm pissed that I can't get it running on my computer too.

I used to love this game and was really surprised a version wasnt made on the Xbox with the Trigger buttons and being online and all. The game was truely a gem.

So true man. I'm not even asking for a re-make... I would be more than happy for someone to just rip it off. There is some untapped greatness in this!!!!

Current-gen systems would just tear this game up... everything was flat in the PC version, you could get crazy 3-D hills and stuff now

The controllers are perfect, triggers for the right and left cable shooters, like you said.

Custom soundtracks would be great. The original had a great soundtrack using CD audio, it was all these surf guitar tracks by Dick Dale and some other people and it kicked ass.

They could add tons of options, so you could finally turn off that time limit that crippled the original.

Current systems are powerful enough to handle a four-way split screen, and of course putting in online with LIVE or something would just be off the charts.

This game needs to be brough to the masses :-(
