One of my friends recently got an xbox through that freegamingsystems site and constantly brags about how he can play any nes, snes, neo-geo, gba, n64 or psx game he wants on it and a bunch of other shit. He's republican and supports the ideology of "I WANT THE MONEY I EARNED, FUCK SS AND FUCK WELFARE" types.
So, it really annoys me when I have a friend who goes around pirating all this shit when I actually pay for my games and firmly believe in either getting a legitimate copy through someone else (even though it it doesn't directly go to developers) or from a retail site. While nintendo or sony may not be getting money directly from him purchasing used snes and psx games, it's still the principle. But the BIG problem for me is the fact that he does it for this generation too. In fact, it infuriates me. I've paid well over 3,000 dollars on my collection - and when I'm all excited about a new release that I paid my hard earned money for, he's all like, "Oh, i've had that, yeah beat it," and all this crap.
Don't the developers deserve the money they earned and worked hard for? They get paid fucking shit and work long hours - and none of this convinces him that he should stop. It's getting to the point where I'll refuse to play anything he illegally attained (i have my own xbox - i'll play my own shit). Am I overreacting or something?

If you are so worried about your friends piracy, why don't you either:
A. report his ass.
B. stop associating with this "friend" and find a new one to play games with.
C. get over it and accept the fact that no matter what you do, you won't change his mind or ways.

The thing that sucks is there is a tight circle of six of us. We do everything together. THe shitty thing is, he's REALLY close to one of the friends I play tennis with. And if I didn't invite him over to play mario party and kart, they would all ask why and crap. I really wish I could stop associating with him. In regards to reporting - i doubt they'd do anything. I hope he tries to get on live and gets banned.

No you have every right to be annoyed at him. I'd also suggest never lending him anything since he obviously dosent need it from you. if it makes you feel any better, unless he's just renting from blockbuster and copying he's still running risks downloading and pirating these games. Viruses at home, getting sacked at work, banned from stores. It's illegal and he can be caught at some point so that's another risk, atleast you personally never have to worry about being booked for your gaming... unless you're using illegal MP3s on your Xbox. :P

Anyway, do you know how to shortcircuit an Xbox? What you want to do is connect 2 (or more) lines on the motherboard, you can even do it with water so you don't need to open the system.
Pour a little water in the CD slot, and his "free" Xbox is toast the second he boots it up.
(MAKE SURE IT IS UNPLUGGED OR PHYSICALLY SWITCHED OFF WHEN YOU DO IT, IF IT IS IN STANDBY OR ON IT CAN HURT YOU!)
The funny part is, unless he opens it he will just assume that it died.
And before you judge, I only did it once and the guy deserved it. And the solder bridges in the principles computer don't count, what happens in catholic school stays in catholic school.

No, what angers me is it's hypocritical that he says this because he's preventing the people who work hard for their money to receive it.
SS and welfare are there for a reason - but that's a long political discussion. Yes, they are flawed - but so is everything in politics.

Pirating the current gen is really being a jack off considering how affordable gaming in general has become. I myself have a lot of roms of older systems though like SMS and NES, but I still bought every PS1 game in my collection.

No wonder you only have 2 friends left. Perhaps your username is where the term "Quack" Judge originated. I'm sure the guy did deserve it, but destroying someone else's property is not a good way to stay out of jail or keep from getting your ass kicked.
Bragging about vandalism doesn't make it any less of a crime than pirating.
