Well, being home from college has been great. I finally got to finish the first Legend of Zelda, I'm almost done with Zelda II, and I decided to play through (and actually finish this time!) Majora's Mask, since that's the one I've never beaten before. Well, tonight I play for about an hour, and I get the Song of Soaring from the owl. Then, as I head into the door by the waterfall, my television goes black. (I thought it was just going to load the next area.) The TV stays black for a minute, and I check to see if I accidentally shut the TV off (nope.). The Gamecube is on, but I have no picture or sound. I check the cables, and they are hooked up fine. What the hell happened?! Would it have been my system, or my game. Both the game and the system are in the most obsessive anal perfect quality you could possibly have. What really pisses me off is that that entire hour is just gone. (Becuase, Majora's Mask doesn't let you save wherever you want....yuck...) Anybody else ever have this happen?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this... I then pushed the reset button on the Cube, and it didn't do anything. So, I shut the power off on the Cube, waited a few minutes, and turned it back on. It booted up fine that time....

someone said the Majoras mask on the LoZ:CE has a lot of bugs and is unplayable
i'm not sure how much of that is true but it could be

also did u beat LoZ twice to get the real ending? i only beat it once and i didnt wanna play through it again after the last dungeon.

ok read a lil bout it and ppl say MM sometimes crashes randomly, some ppl only have ait crash once, some more than others, also says to have slowdown in some parts and the some choppy music, go to gamecrazy and get the original if u can, thats all i can say, i have the original gold catridge, but i might play through it on the cube just to see if there are that many problems.

as long as OoT works fine then thats what matters, never liked zelda 2

FOOL. THE GAMCECUBE IS PERFECTION, THIS IS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT!

...Actually, MM crashed once for me. My best guess is that this has to do with the conversion of the expansion pack to the gamecube hardware. I wouldn't expect it to happen again as, I'm sure you know, the gamecube is uncannily durable.

there were some sound issues, iirc, that caused a few crashes.....on the whole, don't worry about it

I am super anal about the way my GC (all my systems for that matter) are treated. Hell, there is only one other person besides myself that has ever even touched the system! I tried playing again today, and again, the damn game locked up. This time, I got just a bit further in the game, when the screen froze, and the sound made one horrendous noise. I am pissed off to no end! FUCK YOU MAJORA'S MASK!!! I GUESS YOU NEVER WANT TO BE BEATEN!!! (Oh, and I have owned the N64 version of Majora's Mask gold cart for three years or so...I just never got around to playing all the way through...and I am too lazy to find the box my N64 games are in....bah...)

EDIT: Oh, and everyone who has played the game on the GC should know about the sound issues because they tell you that when the game loads at the beginning!

Also, to the person above: No, I am not going to play through LoZ for a second time. I was proud of myself to actually play through the game once, as usually I begin games...and never finish them. I'm actually pretty far on Zelda II at the moment...I'm thinking I may actually finish it as well! (And I wonder why I even play the Collector's Edition, since I own all the games on their original systems!)

EDIT 2: Fixed some spelling...damn am I tired....

Same shit happened to me too 1 time, Rig. But I think I had been playing for a couple of hours. I've only played a few times after that and it hasn't crashed on me since.

I played through and beat MM on the Collector's disk, and had a few freeze-ups, but luckily, it seemed to be pretty early into the game(around the Deku swamp and such.)

After I got to the ice level and beyond, I think I only locked up once in the water temple, so you might want to try to tough it out(I guess it depends on how much you'd like to finish it, me I don't have an n64 copy, so I stuck it out.)

I know you said you're anal about the system, but is there any dust in the fan? I know I started getting loickups (on other games) when my fan was dirty. A little canned air later and no problems. Just another suggestion.

....I have a drawer filled with cans of compressed air. I'm just guessing Nintendo messed up. (And I really hate to say that.) I'm going to send 'em an email and ask if anybody else has had the problem.

The only games I've ever had freeze up or crash on me was NBA 2k3 and BG&E. While BG&E froze up once, NBA2k3 was a constant problem.

There is no real ending. The ending is the same for both quests. The point of the 2nd quest is that the dungeons are completely different, so it's the game that changes, not the ending. Also, it's funny to see people talking about Zelda like it's a new game they are playing for the first time! I'm sure I've played that game more times than any other.

It's not your Gamecube, the emulation on MM is absolute shit. It froze for me multiple times and I threw it back up on the rack with the rest of the games I dont play. (I'm gonna bite my tonge when I say this) If you want a huge explaination on it go to gamefaqs, they tend to point out bugs better then the rest of the us.

See, I didn't have any problem with MM except for that one time, and I've had my GC since launch. I don't know what it could be, but methinks somehtign is amiss

It's definately the disc. My friend let me hold his copy of the Collector's Edition and it often froze up when exiting from the Bomber Hideout. I have also heard of occurances like this when discussing the game among several other friends. So you have no worries, your Gamecube is still your most bitchin' system.

That happened to me twice (both times before I got to save), then MM never froze on me again.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one having problems.... I was really worried about the Cube!

The GCN has a problem running the emulator for Majora's Mask IIRC. Happened to me only twice, but at critical times. I hadn't saved in hours.

*cries at the thought of something being mechanically wrong with the gamecube*
