If the beta is any indication not at all. It plays like a dice rolling simulator. You and an opponent both attempt an attack, a number is generated for each of you, the person with the higher number wins and their attack happens.

Nerds were already doing this for years in their parents' basements.
there are probably better MMORPG to chose from.

I was really considering giving this a try since it dropped in price to $29.99, but I found out that it's a big resource hog, and I don't have the memory on my PC to run it. I heard you need at least a gig of ram.

No, terrible in the beta. Theres really no excuse for a company producing crap like this, especially when there are many quality MMO's out there. See: Guild Wars, Everquest 2, Anarchy Online.

if you want a good game with a fun community, get World Of Warcraft
if you want a good game with a fun community and are too cheap (in a good way) to get world of warcraft, get Guild Wars
if you want a game that will eat your cat, get Matrix Online
Honesty, they can find people to spend $15 a month on anything these days

I played it in a late stage of the beta, and it was terrible. The servers couldn't even handle the small load that was there, so I was constantly fighting janky lag just to walk down the street. The battle system is mediocre at best (terrible at worst). The graphics aren't anything to write home about. The sound can only be described as adequate. Just don't buy it.

honestly, i had alot of hope for this game (im not a matrix fan) but the quick price drop and lack of advertisments online after release kinda told me something :\, but seriously, listen 2 albino ninja, WoW is alot of fun, but kinda pricey, guild wars is also fun, but i wish it had more gameplay elements from WoW..still really good nonetheless

whoopee! I've been waiting 787 posts to hear someone say that!
From the looks of it, we have another shoddy title with "The Matrix" slapped on it. The Matrix title is almost a curse.

It wasn't awful while I was playing in the beta, but I didn't bother picking up retail. EQ2 belongs nowhere in the discussion of good MMOs. There's WOW, Guild Wars(it is like PSO with a bigger universe), City of Heroes(I had been playing, but cancelled until City of Villains comes out), and SW Galaxies(if you like what the updates have done).
Played it late in beta and thought it was terrible. The game is a damn resource hog like I haven't seen. Also, it just wasn't that much fun. If you want real good MMOs than go for something like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and/or City of Heroes. they are all loads more fun and simple and easy to pick up with great communities.

I agree, EQ2 is terrible for an MMO as EQ1 was. EQ1 recieved the reputation it had back then as being the premeir MMO because it was one of the first and concentrated more on a community atmosphere/hang out. Was one of the most boring MMOs I have ever played, not to mention the graphics stunk even when it came out IMO.

EQ2 is great for those who enjoy level grinding and mindless time killing. You can't really get that from WoW or Guild Wars since they have all those silly quest things. The mobs are there, but there isn't any emphasis put on killing them.

I'd rather scratch my ass with a metal fork then play another piece of crap with a Matrix logo on it.

I was with you until you mentioned SWG as a good MMORPG, one of the worst games I ever played back when it was released.

Huh, you can grind in WOW if you want or you can quest to level, but you don't have to quest. You say eq2 is great for level grinding and mindless time killing then say there is an emphasis put on killing? Doesn't make sense. The quests in WOW are what puts an emphasis on killing.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to this one... "DAMN, have you seen the graphics in WoW? Looks like a kiddy cartoon game." EQ2 wins in graphics :booty:

I dunno. That can be quite satisfying sometimes.

That's a joke right....I don't want to have to resort to the "gameplay is more important than graphics" or " the graphics are subjective" arguements

The only thing that seems interesting about Matrix Online is the story, but I'm not willing to shell out a monthly fee for that.

DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
But I dunno, I think graphics are just as important as gameplay. I don't buy the "one is better than the other" thing. With crap graphics, its a crap game. With crap gameplay, its a crap game.
