Please respond to the question below from kolly4005. eBay will send an email to the buyer for you.

http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/spacer.gifQ: Hello , I saw this Game much evitable to what i 'd need as a special gift for my cousin who 's on exchange program abroad. So i 'll like to know if its in a perfect working condition...then i will be glad to make an additional payment of $100 to its actual price as i need an immediate purchase of it. And i can 't wait till the bids end for it ...and i will be very glad if you'll release the system for shipment as soon as the funds has cleared the Bank .. so kindly provide me your valid contact name and address ,along with the final price for the system ,so i can proceed on sending out the payment . Basically i 'll be handling the shipping myself via my fedEx shipping account, due to the high cost of shipping it via normal procedure ... i await your quick response .. payment is via Certified Check

I have an Xbox lot up for auction and I got this question. It sounds far to fishy to me. Opinions?

Dont send first, wait till you get the money and you get everything cleared.

Well, since you can't withdraw it since it sounds like you already have bids on, then I'd say don't do anything cause you can't. Well at least its hard to remove an item from auction once there is bids on it

classic scam. Don't do it unless you like getting screwed.

I do believe its a scam involving a counterfit Certified Check - hes trying to get you to send before the check clears with its "home branch" (which usually takes some time - and then when it gets there and is discovered to be fake, your bank will yank the money back out of your account)

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. It'll clear your bank fine when you deposit or cash it, then in a couple weeks or so, when it tries to go through the bank it's supposedly drawn from, it'll be bounced and by that time, he has your items and you have no money. Honestly, if the person needed an Xbox that badly, there's a ton of them at BINs already that they could get and wouldn't have to spend an extra $100 on and put a whole production together to get you to sell it outside of ebay so there's no legitimate record of the transaction.

Ask him for a postal money order instead. Then youll be able to tell if he's scamming you if he doesn't agree to it.

Don't do it. He'll send a counterfeit money order. It's a classic ebay scam.

Haha  - had a thought - send him an empty box since he's paying shipping ;) and if it ends up being good, appologize and send the xbox.

This could be the Cheap Ass P-P-P-Powerbook.

Should I report it to eBay?

And just so you know, my comment was made in jest, that would probably be a bad idea.

I would - its an offer to break their policy (if you'd have to cancel bids or sell outside of the auction)

Oh, I know you were kidding. It just made me think of the reverse PowerBook scam. Hehe.

This is a classic scam; under no circumstances should you sell to this person. I dealt with two scams just like this. Evidently, the Nigerian ambassador wanted to buy his grandmother in Cote D'ivorie an N-Gage.

...I'm trying to find info about this kind of scam; Try this maybe: http://www.wtoctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=3007430&nav=0qq6WtVh

That reminds me of the rich, dead guy in Germany that keeps trying to send me all his money.

So, inquiring CAGs want to know: have you reached a decision yet?

Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I reported him a few hours ago. And then I sent an e-mail that said "You've been reported to eBay. If you want the lot please place a bid."

He had zero feedback anyway. I'm sure the account is in the process of being killed, or at least investigated.
