I think the $75 pricetag I just saw on amazon.com is a bit much!
Why on earth did they stop publishing this game?

First of all you really shouldnt rely on amazon. It should be $50 at EB, GS, or Fry's if they have them.

"If they have them" is the key phrase there. Anyway, every Atlus title has a short print run. If you have any interest in any of their games, you should get them as close to release as possible. It's very rare that their games drop in price, and more often they end up going up in price.

Totally agree. Atlus games hold their value extremely well, plus their games tend to be similar so not much guess work involved.
some Atlus title that did not get rare: Hard Hitter Tennis, Chrono Q, Galleon, and some of their GBA games.
Dual Hearts is also fairly common even though it is a highly under rated game.

Which is why I didn't say it never happens, just that it's rare. Their action games tend to be more common than their RPGs tho. SMT:Nocturne is already becoming hard-to-find, and I expect Digital Devil Saga & Stella Deus to follow.

Choro Q is rare, just not in high demand. I had a hell of a time trying to find a copy and AFAIK, EB was the only place that carried them (usually 1 or 2 copies per store and that's it). Still a fun little game though.

Disgaea isn't really rare, it just cannot be found new under $50.

Wasn't Phantom Brave an Atlus game, as well? That game's value tanked.

Most Game Quests carry Disgaea for $50 too.

OP: Try EB's, some of them seem to have gotten new Disgaea's in for 49.99.

No, it was published by NIS

Disgaea, La Pucelle, Phantom Brave are all made by NIS. However, Disgaea was published by Atlus and La Pucelle was published by Mastiff because at that time, there wasn't a NIS division in America. After Disgaea's sleepy hit and sort-of-well-received La Pucelle, NIS Japan decided to open their own division in America. They produced a whole buch of copies for Phantom Brave, thus explained why the value tanked. I'm not a collector so value doesn't mean a thing to me. As long as I can get to play the game I want, that's all it matter.
