EDIT: Okami is SWEET. I played the demo last night and I'm definitely picking this up when it gets released. This also seems like a perfect game for the DS with all the drawing and stuff. It's a good twist on the classic platformer... where's the Xbox 360 version!!!

I hope the gameplay can live up to the fantastic visuals. I'm really excited to give this game a try...

From what I saw on G4, and the coverage on gamespot, it is a solid looking game that I will be buying at launch

This game is making it very hard for me not to shell out $50 for it. Not to mention Wanda and the Colossus (or whatever it's called now).

it's been changed to Shadow of the Colossus.

Yeah, both of them are shaping up to be the token stylized Japanese sleeper hits of the year.

Okami does definetly have some great graphical art direction mmmmm. Can't say much about the gameplay tho.

How do you know?

I think he means he cannot comment on the gameplay because no one has been able to play it. Both Okami and Shadow of the Colossus look amazing though.

aahhh, it sounded like for a second that he may have played it or something - it is possible - I think it was demoed at e3...

I've heard plenty of good things from fellow E3 patrons who said the gameplay was definitely cool as you had to draw some attacks and paths and such when you're needed to. It definitely has the look of a very cool game, and I'm thinking it'll end up as a good to great game.

Does Okami have a release date yet?

RelentlessRolento

well, good chance on betting it will be this year... I am guessing november or october

Most sites report 2006, which is odd, considering the game was playable at e3, and has been known about for a pretty long time now.

Placeholder relase date. Every article and magazine I've read says 2006.

This is actually the game I'm anticipating most for this generation. I never thought a game would top the upcoming Zelda in that regard, but all the E3 previews I've read were amazed by it. I've read it plays as well as it looks and the gameplay footage I've seen of it is amazing with a DS-like paintbrush that you use to interact with the environments. Too bad it won't be out until Feb or March next year.

If you click on Capcom's name to see their page, it also says they'd be releasing three games that day. I highly doubt that they'd have three games ready to be released by then.

It's games like Okami and Shadow of the Colossus that give me hope that gaming isn't dead as an art form. As much as I love Halo 2, Burnout 3 and other mass market titles I'm a complete sucker for an offbeat, never been tried concept game like Okami.

I don't know when it comes out but I can't wait to get it.

Too bad it's going to bomb here. We need more developers to take chances on games like this.

Yeah, the demo of Okami was great, I just wish it didn't have a time restriction because I want to explore everything. Though I wish some of the huge creatures you meet were bosses instead of just characters you talk to.

yeah, the time restraint was annoying. It really serves no purpose and I don't understand why it's there. Also, why do these demos exit to the main menu every time the game ends? I was trying to play Black and I kept getting killed before I got the hang of everything and I had to reboot every single time - annoying.

Okami is really looking good though...

I'm baffled as to why this isn't on the DS, but I am intrigued indeed.

My thoughts precisly, I think it's games like these that really keep us sane with from all those clones and sequels. I do not think it will do badly though. I think it will catch on. It has gotten a fair amount of coverage, more then SOTC. I have heard many people are planning to buy it.

All games need to be as innovative as this. I think that the DS spurred an inventive phase with portable gaming. Hopefully the Revo will do the same with console gaming.

To add fuel to the Okami fire: that OPM demo is old. pretty sure it's the same one from E3 '05 (someone fact check that...)

The one that came out in Japan last fall looks like it had a major facelift as it's not nearly is washed out or jaggy as the OPM demo.

Okami will rule faces everywhere :D

Wow - if that's the case then it is going to look fantastic because the demo looks great already.

just as a side note: Okami was in development also for th DS, but somehow went off the radar...

I'm still surprised people need to actually play this game to realize how good it is... just watch a damn video and it's good enough (though playing it certainly is more enjoyable).

I fell in love with this game when I saw the first trailer. I'm pre-ordering it as soon as my EB gets it in their computer

my local EB already has the Pre-Order display boxes on the shelves, so I think it's ok to do so now.

Is there some pre-determined time at which all our PS2s will stop working, that I don't know about?
