References in games you missed as a kid

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed references to things that one would never have caught as a kid after playing old games. Point out some music references, movie references, literature references etc. and anything else you can think of. Allow me to begin:

Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (SNES)- Ogre BAttle and March of the Black Queen are two fantastic tracks on the Album "Queen II" by Queen (buh!).

Earthbound(SNES)- Yellow Submarine. Beatles. 'Nuff said (The game even points out that 'the yellow color is purely coincidental')

Eh, games I can't really remember right now.

But TV shows...

When I was a kid I didn't get all of the movie clips in Muppet Babies. I remember they even had a clip from The Thing, when the dog is all bloody and turning into the monster. And they showed that on Muppet Babies!

Not to get off track, but in regard to television shows "Freakazoid" is FULL of references I never got when I watched it for the first time. Just go back and view some old episodes to see jokes about everything from the Pope to David Lee Roth.

yeah i tend to skip alot of those when i was little too. now i go back and i'm like wow.
