View Full Version : Good simple DS case?

Does anyone know of a good simple DS case? Right now I have this one:

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx_assets/product_images/246409.jpg

My gripe is that it has a big elastic band to keep the system locked down. I would prefer to have something that I can take it in and out of rather quickly and I don't need storage for games or accessories. The smaller the better. Any suggestions?
These 2 on playasia.com look good but I'm not sure.

That looks like a purse...

I am not into all of this accessory stuff anymore, but isn't the whole point of the clamshell design that you don't need a case?

I just carry my PSP around in my pocket with the neoprene sleeve that it came with, and that works fine.

And my SP, I put that in my pocket, in my backpack, or anywhere else that is convenient. I totally abuse it and the clamshell design prevents it from being scratched or damaged.

I used to be anal about that stuff, but I eventually realized that it is no big deal, nothing is going to get messed up if you don't put it in a case.

Just put it in your pocket, otherwise it's not really portable, is it? ;)

i picked up one of these... it's great, if you don't mind the nintendogs logo on the outside, and don't care about the slightly more expensive price due to importing.

it's a first party case, and fits the DS nice and snug. plus, because of how it opens, you don't even have to remove the system from the pouch to play. just unzip around the edge, lift the lid of the case, then lift the top of the DS... and you're good to go. (i'll post pics of it in action, if you'd like.)

it doesn't have a handle or strap or anything... if that matters. and it's only big enough for the DS itself. there's a small mesh zipper pocket under the lid that's big enough to hold 3 or 4 DS games.

there's also a larger manpurse version that has a shoulder strap and an extra large pouch for accessories. i didn't pick one of these up though.

i've been extremely happy with it thus far. again, the only major downsides that i could see are the price of importing and the nintendogs logo splashed across the front.

I cut the handle off...purse problem solved. Actually if the DS had a neoprene sleeve I would be down with something that was that size for the system. I just don't want to go totally case free as the top can get scratched over time. That is why I want something simple and small though...to keep it portable.

I would go for it based on your mini review but it is out of stock. I'm thinking this may be the way to go:

I have the same case as the OP. If you dont like the elastic strap, dont use it. I never have, problem solved.

It's not just the strap...it's also the size. I would like it to be a little smaller if possible.

Got this case for $12.45 shipped, seller is from Hong Kong. Should get it in within a week so I'm told.

I bought a case from Target for $10 (should be $5 now) that's pretty good. It's basically just a pouch for the DS, several slots for DS cards, and a mesh netting for GBA games or whatever. It's really not that much bigger than the DS itself. The only thing I hate about it is the velcro.

I have the same case too. I only use the case when I need to throw my DS in my backpack or dufflebag. Thats primarily why I bought it, I wanted it to be in a case rather than loose in a bigger pack. Otherwise the DS alone fits fine in my pocket. If you're really concerned about scratches when pocketing it and you can't find a case thats thin/simple enough to throw in your pocket all the time, you might consider getting a skin.

I got a case at Target a while back for 10 dollars. It looks like something that holds a big palm pilot. looks like fake leather or whatever on the outside, Yes there are elastic straps that hold it down, but I like that it zips open. opens up like a book, with a bunch of netting to hold games on the left. sorry I couldnt find a picture of it.

I also use the same case as you, jkam, though originally I had a first party "Game Folio" which was just friggin' huge. I'd love to find something a bit smaller too. For my SP I bought one of those Pelican leather pouches that you just slide the system into. It worked great. I'd love to find something like that for my DS.

I wish they had a leather or PDS style case. Just like a lether case for cell phones or whatever. I am interested in seeing some actual pics of scdoanintendo's when it arrives.

My brother bought me from walmart a first party nintendo case called Gamefolio. It is all leather and holds the ds in place and some games and the cords. It is awesome and he only spent like 10 bucks on it. I would check it out.

I wouldn't mind a smaller case myself. I have tried some of the Official ones from Nintendo and I really don't like those. The slots for DS games are just clear plastic thats too tight making it hard to place games in and get them out. Right now I am using the case I got when I bought my DS at Toys R Us (DS system, Mario 64 & case for $170). Its made by intec I think, its a silver hardshell case with a space for the DS and has room for other stuff. It doesn't have any strap to hold the DS in place so I have a small washcloth in there to keep things in place (hey it works). For game storage I have modded the multicolored Mad Catz GBA cases to hold 2 DS games and the case holds y of those cases. All in all not a bad case for the price.

Pretty cool. I went ahead and ordered this one:

I let everyone know what I think when I get it. www.success-hk.com looks to have some cool stuff as well:

Case:

Not sure if this is hard plastic or what not but it says compact design:

Another Case (Not my thing but good for some)

Keychain Game Case:

I wish the US had a lot of choices in cases...so I could go in store and check them all out. Hopefully the one coming will have been the right choice.

Anyone know one that doesn't scratch the top of the ds? The nintendo one I got for my SP did. I know for sure it wasn't me cause it always sat in the same spot in the case.

I actually got this case because I planned on getting an electric blue DS. I just imported a white DS and ordered a white case. It comes in grey, black, blue, and white. I am definitely satisfied with the case, it's very sturdy/hard, secures the ds, has two pockets for GBA games, three pockets for DS games, and a back pocket for anything extra.

Does anyone know where I can find a case similar or like this

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=276&products_id=6030&

It's been OOS for a while and I can't find it on ebay. I know Intec has their boxy version but I don't really like the size/look of it.

I want a hard case though and the only option is the intec version. I currently have this case, but it is very soft.
