Okay, I don't really have a good feeling about shipping to this guy, but maybe you guys can tell me if I'm overreacting.

I put my N-Gage up for auction on ebay, and it sold yesterday. I plainly stated in my description that I will only ship to buyers in the continental U.S.

Okay, so the auction ends, and this is the e-mail I get from ebay giving me the specifics on the buyer.

"Dear the_wivil,
fenloi (O Fennell - Mandeville, Manchester Jamaica) has agreed to purchase the following eBay item on May-30-05 18:25:25 PDT:"

Right off the bat, I notice he's from Jamaica and plan on e-mailing him to tell him that I won't ship to him. But before I can, he sends me the payment. I look through the payment receipt and it says he lives in Miami, and his address is unconfirmed.

I e-mailed him and asked him what the deal was, but what do you guys think? Am I being a paranoid, or do you guys smell something fishy, too?

EDIT: Here's the link to the auction - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5777624564

I wouldn't ship a $90 item to an unconfirmed address. It seems to risky, since it would be very easy for them to get their money back and keep the item.

I'd ask him to confirm his address before you ship, but his feedback is high enough that I wouldn't worry to much so long as you mail it to his US address.

You Humans never worry when you should.

I'd tell him that it said only to people in the U.S. and too bad for him.

Unless you dont think you would get as much if you listed it again, in which case he would pay you first and give you a little extra for shipping.

You can get money back even though you have Delivery Confirmation on it?

Ah but one of this addresses is in the US, given that the guy has over 80 feedback without a negative I wouldn't worry to much so long as he ships to the miami address.

I would be a little nervous about it.

Maybe his miami address is really where he has a ship waiting to recieve the Ngage and travel back...TO CUBA.

Its probably Castro

If their address is unconfirmed, then the buyer can get their money back for any reason/complaint to Paypal.

I'd be a little worried about it. I wouldn't take the chance on a $90 item. But, the final decision is yours. On an semi-related note, you can have one of your negatives removed. The one where the 0 feedback buyer cussed at you. Contact ebay about it, and have it removed. Thank me later.

Since the listing doesn't state confirmed PayPal addresses only you really can't insist on that now IMO.

It is a little fishy, but given the buyer's great FB I'd probably go ahead and ship it. No gaurantees, but then there never are when you sell on eBay.

OTOH, you already have a few negs, so you could just cancel the sale and take the neg. eBay is doing some sort of non-performing seller thing now, too. I don't know what happens with that.

Also you can immediately cancel an auction if the winner is outside of your shipping zone. Since his ID is registered to Jamaica, eBay might let you do that to him even though the shipping address on his payment is to the US. I'm not sure if eBay would look that far into things or not. That would be a fairly crappy thing to do to him though. (He'd get a NPB strike.)

Go with your gut. Often I wish I would have listened to my instincts about certain things (not just ebay related). If you feel comfortable about it, go for it.

I would give him the chance to confirm his address. If he couldn't or wouldn't then I would not ship to him.

This is why ebay has feedback system. if he has no negatives ask him what up. does he live in miami and Jamaica it is possible or he moved. but if he wants to ship to miami is that not in the USA where you ship to. quit being worried buy some delivery conformation and ship it.

Okay, I just got this e-mail from him.

Hi. Yeah. I am in Jamaica but all my transactions get shipped to my address in Miami. Check the feedback and you will understand. In Jamaica we cannot ship directly to here easily, so I have a USA address that forwards eveything here.
Take care.

If the guy has good fb and he responds to emails, and it's not a money order or anything, I'd send it.

I once had a similar situation because I don't ship to unconfirmed addresses and got one that was. This guy said he lived in Minn, but wintered in AZ, and Paypal wouldn't confirm more than one address. All worked out well.
